Rand heading in to face the dark one

I read the start of LOC today and I figured out how Rand will seal away the DO. Follow me with this, it shouldn't be too hard

1) The DO is felt the easiest in Shayol Ghul, in the Pit of Doom

2) Shayol Ghul is past the Mountains of Dhoom

3) Mad male channelers in the AOL knocked mountains down, and built more up, effectively moving the mountains

4) Rand will pick up the Mountains of Dhoom and drop them upside down into the Pit of Doom, sealing away the DO under a pile of rock

5) All that is left over from the two canceling each other out is the 'h' in Dhoom, which is a silent h anyway, so there aren't any real problems with it hanging around

Pretty sound theory if you ask me

From looking through the Towers of Midnight pages, I take Rand would encounter the Dark One in person.
Dark clouds pushed away by the sunlight's warmth. Rand, a brilliant white sword held in his hand, wielded against one of black, held by a faceless darkness

bold mine

And from another prophecy, I take Rand would step on the Pit of Doom; perhaps after resurrection.

the blind man shall stand

upon his own grave

Again, bold mine

And multiple prophecies seem to indicate that Rand would bleed on the Pit of Doom.

The Dark Lord and his prison are not "of the world". They are outside of creation. That's why users of the True Power rip the threads of the pattern instead of bending or spreading them. Dropping a mountain into the Bore wouldn't be any more effective than pouring an ocean or emptying a volcano into it. Nice try, though.

The solution was actually suggested to Rand way back in ACoS, when Damer Flinn healed his two wounds by redirecting their evil at each other. Rand put the solution to practice when he canceled saidin's taint by filtering it through Shadar Logoth.

Now the Fain/Mordeth creature is skulking around the blight near Shayol Ghul waiting for Rand to show up, hoping to kill both Rand and the Dark Lord. I expect Rand will oblige it on at least one point by tossing it into the bore. That should keep the Dark Lord busy long enough for Rand & company to close the bore. Rand may have to jump into the bore himself and "die", however, before the battle is over.

I agree with Kestrel that Fain will have very big part in sealing/killing the DO.

The evil of DO vs. the evil of Shadar Logoth destroying each other has been foreshadowed too much in the series to just be ignored in the Last Battle.

There was a hint at what to expect in TDR, Egwene has a dream seeing Rand descend into what we know as Shayol Ghul describing it as a rent opening in the earth and something about evil, where we know all the Forsaken go/are taken to communicate with the dark one. Fain might pull a Gollam and follow him in and have something to do, as he's a collection of most known evils in Randland, everything from the twisting to serve the Dark One, Shadar Logoth taint from the dagger, absorbing Mordeth, Mashadar, the dagger's taint, Machin Shin, etc. Here and there I find bold hints at future events books later, mostly in visions and dreams.
