Inactivity

I think getting info from lynches is hard here even post day one. It's hard to set up competing trains with rampant inactivity.

Ah - b/c I post that same thing Day 1 in just about every game I play (including in your game running on JN right now, so I thought you'd seen that particular rant of mine before. Guess not - in that case, glad I mentioned it

 

BTW, I just came up with an absolutely INSANE game idea. Will run it here after Lily's game on JN ends (or I'm killed there :))

Yep - and the deadlines mods impose are too tight given the inactivity. 3 days on JN is an eternity. 3 Days on DM means you may only have 4 votes by deadline.

see i don't know if i agree with this. deadlines do nothing for activity imo if you have players that are being inactive. in the case of DM, whether we had a Deadline that was 7rl days, or a deadline that was 1 rl, you'd still have a rush of voting right before the end of the deadline because people just dont seem to care. also, if youhave too long of a deadline, especially with inactivity, it could stall out the game because there woudln't be much more discussion.

 

 

imo, with inactivity, i relaly think 3 days might be too long. if they were shorter, then people would tend to be more active and stay active.

I have found that keeping the deadlines tight keeps the activity up. At least, that's my experience.

I too like the shorter deadlines, though day ones are definitely too short, especially with the newer players. I like 48-72 hr deadlines.

Actually, I'm on the verge of instituting a different "no majority" penalty: If it happens twice in any game I run, I'm out. Game's canceled, I'm not modding it - if anyone else wants to step in, I'll give them the game info and they can see it through to the end.

Drastic, but I like it. Will force players to read and vote. If they don't do the former, the rest of the game will do that latter.....for them. Simple and effective.

Exactly. Much better to make the players who want to play the enforcement team. Screw up, and you answer to them.

i actually like that rule Kiv, i can't wait to see how well it works. it seems like ig encourages the non-players to stay out of the games without a blacklist. this might work. if we get a month or two of games following this, we shoudln't need it anymore because it will become 2nd nature to people (kinda like the same effect the non-voters will be randomly MKd if no majority is reached rule had)

with the mod Que list./ will you be posting Mods in waiting as well; soe people know how long they might have to wait before they're able to mod? or will you just be relying on people to constantly chekc the Que list? or will you PM a mod when there turn is up??

I would like for the mods to check the thread at least semi-regularly to get an idea as to when they can post signups. If they don't, I'll probably send a *poke* PM as a reminder. But I'm not waiting as long as I did on our old board - if I poke and get no response, then they get bumped if the person after them is ready.
