Perrin has more appearance in this book than anybody. There's a lot less Mat...but really. Fear not. Mat is awesome in this book. He made me LMAO, and he made me cry, and he made me cheer.

nwash - there is at least one important detail about the Horn. RAFO on the rest.

Terez, does the timeline debate from Seven Stripped Lass get resolved??? Was Verin's death fairly soon after meeting Mat, or did Brandon mess up the timeline, or were the rumors simply that, rumors? I think, with rumors of Trolloc invasions, which weren't in TGS, that it must mean Verin's death occured right after meeting Mat, but that's just me.

Less Mat than Perrin is not ideal, but meh. Your ringing endorsement of Mat's awesomeness is a very good thing. It doesn't make me want to read the book any more than before, but it would have if it were possible.

I didn't analyze the timeline, but I got the impression that we were being deliberately misled as to the timing of certain events. That is just a feeling, though.

Do either Tam or Hurin appear in this book?

RAFO.

Obviously. ;)

Gonna make one WAG.

Terez cried for the last 50 pages because those are about Moiraine. ( and, possibly, Olver )

I didn't cry for the whole 50 pages. That's just when it started. Several moments before the end made me tear up again, but that first one really got me. I didn't expect that to happen, but wow, it did.

What, Thom is DF and Mat had to kill him?! Wait a minute....:goes away mumbling:

Hmmmm, gotta think of something less likely to be RAFO'ed... ;)

In Book 12, the consensus seemed to be that Mat was the main character who felt the most "off."

In ToM, which characters would you say felt the most and the least off?

Thanks!

None of them really stood out to me. Another reviewer felt like Morgase was 'ack' but I didn't get that impression. The main problem with Mat in TGS was the way Brandon introduced him. It seemed to me like he was trying too hard to make him funny. But Brandon recognized that - he's said so in interviews - and while I don't think the way he wrote Mat changed much, we already saw in ch. 8 how Mat was introduced in the book, and it was not nearly as jarring.

Terez,

Do we have a single Rand POV, not just where he is present, but where we get his thought process?

At least one. ;)

Do we have a Moridin POV? I don't think we've had one since he and Rand's connection was formed back at the end of aCoS (Moridin's PoV in the prologue of PoD actually took place before the fight with Sammael in Shadar Logoth).

Hmm, it would stand to reason that if he had a full length PoV then his "past life memories" wouldn't have stuck, because he would know way too much. However, if it is a short PoV of him getting turned or slain by Sir Gawain of Hammy Giles...

Yeah we did, where he was playing sharah in Path of Daggers, and again when he was shocked when Aviendha un-wove the gateway. But yeah, it's been a while.

I don't follow your reasoning. However, I do get the impression that he only has Lews Therin's memories permanently. The others were just a momentary epiphany. Birgitte demonstrates that it's not really possible to retain that many memories while incarnate.

Check the chronology, both of those took place before the final battle in Shadar Logoth. It was one of the first examples of RJ using non-linear storytelling with events in one book taking place before events from the previous book.
