You clearly don't understand the Important Human Themes, death-chooser :laugh:

ETA: In case the two big smilies don't make it clear, I'm joking :O

Don't worry, WoT and SoT fandom are mutually exclusive.

Well that's not entirely true. I actually read and enjoyed the entire SoT series. Though I will readily admit that WoT is much better and on an entirely different level.

I'm currently suffering through Wizard's First Rule, on the grounds that something so awful can only increase my appreciation of ToM.

Ohhhh of course you had to go there....:]

I enjoyed the series as well up until the last book(horrible ending) and looking up the author. Seeing how much of a tool he was made me understand the books so much more.

@Mr Ares; In hindsight those books truly made me appreciate WOT. One of my friends when i was in Japan the first time told me about him and swore Goodkind was like Jordan's protege, only better. He didn't bash Jordan so I picked up the books. Didn't pick up another WoT book until CoT and KoD in 05(no Wot in the NEX on base) when I got back to the states. The difference was like night and day. By that time I was already too many books into SoT to stop. I wouldn't say I regret reading them but I did have to push myself through the books for a lackluster finale.

On topic:Just finished Sanderson's newest and tried to start Martins' Way of Kings. I keep having to stop, made it a couple chapters past seeing a kid thrown out a window then...yeah. So I'm mostly listening to Writing Excuses and watching this horrible season of T.V.

I was planning to plow through the WoT series before ToM comes out, but I only managed to reach ACoS when a friend recommended The Stand by Stephen King, so I got hooked there. Now that same friend is trying to get me to read Hunger Games, but with the impending ToM days from now I am not about to take the bait :).

Ive been reading (listening to) Jim Butcher's Dresden Files, Im on White Night now. Awesome books.

Also been listening to BS' The Way of Kings, which was great, better than I expected.

And of course The Name of the Wind, last page is probably the best Ive read since the Nynaeve "will he ride alone?"-part. still giving me goosebumps.

Stupidly, i got Game of Thrones the other day while on a very boring holaday to Skye. It's not as good as the hype it gets, just a bit too much incest and paedophilia(IMHO). The direwolf plot line-kinda-thing is realy cool though. but it takes up the time waiting for ToM. I've been reading the new WoT FAQ also, brilliant work there!

Eh, John Connolly's The Reaper was pretty good, just fini that, starting Colum McCann's This side of Brightness, and have a list the length of me arm of college reading to do... But they'll have to wait til Wednesay, lol. Just the McCann this side of ToM.

Currently, I am in the beginning of KoD. Started my reread back in may, had to take tiem off of reading for a month, so I'm behind. I wanted to be in TGS by now.

Playing Rockband 2 (gotta wait on Santa Clause for RB3, I think).

Drooling over Fallout Vegas.

Game of Thrones was a bit hard for me to get into as well, but once through and into the sequels I loved it.

The thing that pissed me off the most about SoT was that it didn't feel planned out at all. It seemed the author just threw in random speedbumps for his characters to immediately plow through. That and each sequel (from what I've read) were just variations on the same, crafted out of the necessity to add in another book. I made it halfway through book 2 before I just felt insulted.

It's been a couple years since then and I discovered some quotes from Goodkind. After reading them, I felt REALLY insulted. The guy is a complete dick.

Rock Band 3 very well may have killed what little chance I had of completing my reread before ToM comes out

Not that all is sunshine and lollypops, though. As fate rarely misses a chance to kick me in the jimmies, my drumkit managed to die right before this came out. With no money to buy another kit(all the bundles which go as low as 60 dollars normally seem to have been jacked up to 100+ for the RB3 release...grrrr...) I am forced to play guitar. Which is nice with all the little improvements that RB3 adds...but still not nearly as fun as drums.
