I have a friend reading this series for the first time and after the fight outside the Hell on the other side of the street was Tom trying to forget that "someone" channeled or not. Sorry about this but I felt pretty certain that was the case, but now I want to know for certain.

Thanks in advance

Pretty sure that this was about Selucia being a bodyguard not just so'jinn. No-one knows she is Tuon's personal guard, and she wants to keep it secret. When she did some badass fighting, Thom saw and would keep the secret.

Indeed. No one channeled. Thom witnessed Selucia's fighting ability and subtly promised to keep it secret.

Thanks guys, I was pretty certain that I was wrong as of late but now I feel alot more comfortable about it...I completely forgot that Selucia's status was still an unknown at the time. Thanks again.

Besides, Tuon and Sulica are experts in martial arts (thought I think Sulin or Naedra could kick Sulica's @$$), and Thom is no novice in a brawl a they fought the smaller force.

I'm less certain of this. I think Selucia gonna be just about the deadliest fighter around. I cannot wait to see her play.

I think that Selucia could be one of the most remarkable people in the entire series. Fighting skill, beauty, and brains in abundance, yet she poses as a servant and has nearly everyone fooled that she is not more than that.

One of these days Mat's going to be there when Fortuona doesn't call her off. She's going to take someone out in front of him and he'll be left open-mouthed in disbelief.

I think the real danger of Selucia is that no one knows that she's highly trained. Once a skilled opponent knows that she's a threat she loses her biggest advantage. In order for the secret that she is Tuon's last line of defense to be kept for all those years she must not have seen regular action; people would suspect otherwise. I would expect any of the Maidens (who are used to seeing battle on a regular basis) to be superior fighters- provided they didn't underestimate her.

You know, this isn't completely on topic, but I wanted to share. I just understood today what happened in KoD-'A Short Path', when Mat believed that Selucia's lost her fear of him / his releasing the AS on Tuon's order. She wasn't really afraid in the first place, was she? She meant to harm him, and Tuon called it off?

Tuon was surprised how easily Rand figured out Sulica was here body guard. And an Aiel can spot a warrior as easily as a warder can find a trolloc, so I doubt they would be taken by surprise.

Maybe they'd she through her and maybe not. Mat on the other hand would be in a world of trouble before he got his conscience under control enough to defend himself.

That was my understanding. I think Selucia was about kill him. or at least rough him up something fierce.

Rand, having been to the Waste and having seen Aiel women fighting, just knew that he was dealing with a culture completely alien to him. He knows (courtesy of Nynaeve and Min first, then he gets some firsthand intel) that the Seanchan military employs women. What he didn't know was that female soldiers are armored like the men. He made an educated guess based on the information he had. I don't even think he even suspected (or cared) that Tuon's cover-up was a lie.

He snorts after her cover-up. He knew.

I didn't really like that Rand picked Selucia--it was one of those 'too cool moments', you know like when the hero leaps tall buildings in a single bound, kills all ten billion of his enemies with a single glare whilst composing poetry so beautiful is causes instant global peace.

Nothing should have indicated her too him, nothing in his experience would make him more perceptive to those things than Mat or Thom (prior to witnessing it). It was just a little too cool for school.
