I would be open to the possibility of having more than 1 standard game (or fast) going, but I'm not sure about the Themed ones.  A Themed game can quickly have a life of its own, and to have 2 of them potentially running loose would be bad.  We had just too many games running at the same time, and it burned people out.....I'd like to avoid that happening again, and if the result is people anxious to play the next game, isn't that good?  ;D

Buuut, I'm cool with discussing it and seeing what other people (especially Wes) think about it.

That makes a lot of sense. I was just looking at how long it will be before I come up and thinking the game I just wrote will be stale in my mind by then. I don't know if that makes sense. But it's not a big deal. There are 4 other games in my head that are bugging me to write them. I can run this one in an org, for sure.

I personally would much rather play here than in orgs, but would agree that one themed game seems to be okay if there are a bunch going on in other orgs.  The trouble comes up when everything starts at the same time.  When games are staggered, you at least have a chance to sign up for a new one when you've died early in a game.

Maybe the issue isn't so much the size of the game but the rules associated with the set-ups?  I personally wonder how many of the people signed up to run themed games would be happy with running their game on a smaller scale, meaning 12 players rather than 18+, but don't want to sign up for a "standard" game because it follows a formula or "sounds boring".  There seems to be more enthusiasm about crazy roles (normally associated with theme games) than about strategic play (normally associated with standard games).  Maybe adding a "mini-themed" category, where it has the size of a standard game and the flexibility of a themed game?

Pookie, if you made a 12 player game with wacky roles, I'd still consider that a "themed" game.  The standard game follows the forumla outlined in the info thread, but themed games don't necessarily have a large # of players.  They usually do, but that isn't a prerequisite.

Fyi, Verby, my laptop died again. *sigh*

I can always get on the desktop for enough time, but would rather wait a little.

No worries, Ed.  I might run mine early next week, depending on my time.  As the queue is just us, it doesn't really matter - whoever gets to it first, hehe.

This. As a past mod, definately agree. Too much at once is bad, bad, naughty! Leads directly to burn out. If you burn out too bad, you never come back.

Just to clarify because I couldn't tell if this was a concern from your post, the standard I have in sign-ups right now follows one of the role formulas.  :)

I got to it first! :D

:P

I will put sign ups now....It's all ready to go. Did you want to look over it first?

I will put it into sign ups and wait to start it, so if you think I should change anything, I can.

Go ahead and sign me up for a fast one, please, Verb. It took me about an hour to write today....

I think I'm getting the hang of this (or it will fail miserably, but still be fun....lol)

No problem - hope ya feel better!

Could you put me down for a themed game, please? I'll send you the details when I'm a couple of peple away from running it, if you like. Or would you prefer the setup right away?

Done.  I'd say send the details to DPR or I once you're about to post signups.  That way we have enough time, and if you want to make tweaks, you can prior to starting it up.

I know you guys are really busy, but is there any chance we can get the OP updated soon?

Done, and updated to here.

I would assume so, why?  There is a Standard game running, and another in signups.  Am I missing something?
