Welcome Reyoru!

Unfortunately, we're going to start having to work you out of some of those bad habits you've picked up over an entire lifetime.

Say it with me now.

(slowly and dramatically)

Honor, not honour.

Color, not colour

Hamburger and french fries, not fish n chips.

We'll continue the rest of your reprogramming tomorrow

Fie on thee Satan! :baalzamon:

I shall endeavour to re-educate you Yanks into using the Queen's English. You shall succumb eventually; this shall be a war of attrition.

Peace.

when we hear the word queen most of us start singing bohemian rhapsody.

superfulous vowels will not catch on again over here i'm afraid. look at what the texting's done to our spelling already.

we are lazy, and ignorant, and proud of it.

(as far as I know, it is "Queen is a British band", and not "Queen are a British band". I could be wrong of course. I'm not English myself)

Both are correct. The band is formed of multiple members, so you can refer to it in the plural (are) or in the singluar (is) when referring to the band itself as a unit.
