I think the game between the Saints and Viks will be close, but I also believe the Saints want it more.

Jets... while I'm all for an underdog... I just don't see it.

I dunno man, Saints have won a superbowl before, Vikings have never won one. Mind you, The vikings were the first team to play in 4 superbowls.

I don't believe the saints are 'wanting it more' than the vikings, you have no idea how badly the Vikings want the superbowl, let alone to win.

Look at it this way, if we go to the superbowl, and we win, There will be riots of joy in the streets of Minneapolis. ^_^

They were also the first team to LOSE four superbowls.

Farve is overrated and probably done after the upcoming most recent failure.

Also the Saints have never been in a Super bowl, nor won one.

We may have lost 4 Superbowls, but at least we have BEEN to one.

ANd you really think, that a team thats lost 4 superbowl, wants to win one less, than a team thats never been? ;)

(I was wiki'in saints, and mis-read what it said about them and the superbowl.)

And hey, Farve maybe overrated, but he has something your team doesn't.

Superbowl Experience. ;)

To put that into perspective, Farve while being under a lot of pressure, he has the advantage to your QB who has never been to a superbowl, and is going to be under even more pressure!

Now if we can only get Adrian Peterson to not drop the ball, and make use of Rice a bit more when Peterson is being dumb...

Course, how many of your 'saints' QB's actually throw passes to your defensive line for a first down? :P

Saints aren't my team, but I dislike the Vikings, my particular team has been, and won 5 superbowls and lost none.

Saints are going to want it more than the Vikings, they have never been there.  Vikings have been there and failed, (chapionship games, play offs and etc) for 25 years. I don't see them a that great of a team.

However, with Farve they may have an extra 5% chance of making it, adding it to the 0% they had before, its still only 5%.

IF the vikings to make it to the superbowl, Indy is going to crush them.. the two teams are not comparable at all.

It'll be like that one year with San Fran and Chargers(1994)... like 49 to 26 or something.

I am in a unique position here in my fandome because the Saints are one of those few teams that represent more than one state, in fact they represent Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama.  I am of the South Mississippi following, and have been all my life.  But I am also a Southern Miss Alum and have been rooting for Brett Favre for his whole career since he is a fellow Mississippian.  Favre is a self admitted Saints fan too so its almost a kinship we share.  (BTW met Favre twice, great guy) since he really wants to win but wouldn't wanna lose to anyone else but the Saints.  Basically I said all that to get to this point.  I am calling Saints over Vikes, but if by some misfortune we don't pull it off, I have Favre and the Vikes to go for in the Super Bowl.

Another thing is that all you haters on Favre are ridiculous, he is the greatest QB of all time regardless of the INT's record.  He still got it and hope he and Warner both come back and keep coming back until they can't play this game at an elite level anymore.  At least one more year for Favre so he can get to 500 consecutive starts.

And lastly, a page or two back I called this weekends games 3/4.  The only one I got wrong was the Colts over Baltimore.  I called for the Ravens obviously but still a great ratio for me.

I've picked against the Jets twice and they have won... but I still can't pick them to beat Indy...

Indy 13

Jets 3

The Saints... I can't cheer for them.. I don't know why.  I even like their coach and QB... but... I can't make myself cheer for them... I don't think they'll beat the Vikings. Screw looking at the stats they haven't helped...

Like the Colts over Jets... the Sanchez Fantasy gotta end sometime and he just doesn't have it in him yet to carry them into the Land of the Elite just yet. Maybe next year.

Colts 42

Jets 21

Vikings and Saints are a dead heat. It will be hard fought and close. As good as the Saints are, I don't see them as a team that can win in a streetfight. It will be Farve  combined with the Vikes stiffling D that will win it in a close one.

Vikings 17

Saints 14

In the Superbowl... gotta run with the Vikes. The Colts Defense just isn't up on the same level as the Vikings Offense. It will be a shootout thanks to the arm of Manning.

Vikings 35

Colts 28

Anyone who thinks the Colts are putting up 35 or 42 points against the Jets D is smoking something.  Remember, the halftime score in week 16 (with all starters playing) was 9-3 Colts - and the Jets were missing their 3rd corner (Strickland).  I think the Colts win this game, but I can tell you right now, if the Jets are within a TD by halftime (and get the ball first in the second half) they will beat the Colts.  If they're within 2 scores, they'll have a chance.  Colts need to be up 17 plus by the Jets' first possession of the second half if they want to put this game away.  Otherwise, look for the Jets to pile up big yardage on the ground in the third and fourth quarters.

Saints over Vikings.  Vikes are worse against the pass than the run, and the Saints D is back.

Don't blame the Refs Sin... Old man Winter Blew the game, and Butter Fingers Peterson didn't help any either.

Touchdown that shouldn't have been a touch down due to bad ref calls.

1st downs that should have been 4ths.

Refs killed the game for us, Not the butter fingers.

OT game was tied, Saints started. That already gave them an advantage. We had them at the 50, 4th down, they went for it, should have lost possession to us, but ref gave them a 1st.

Bad calls did not help with butter fingers.

Hell through out the game the Saints got passed by on alot of holding and pass interference calls that were far more blatant than the vikings. >_<

Though Sin and I think the saints got lucky for different reasons... they did get lucky... A LOT in that game.  By no means was it only their game play alone that got them the win.  However a win is a win so hats off to the Saints.  Shame Peyton Manning is gonna pick them apart.

Penalties

  Saints:9-88

  Vikings:5-32

The biggest play of the game was the twelve men in the huddle call that forced Favre to throw what turned out to be his second pick. Without that penalty they could have run once more and then kicked the FG. But it was a good call, there were in fact twelve men in the huddle. The pass interference call in OT was a good call as well. A DB cannot tackle the intended receiver and then claim the pass was uncatchable because the receiver was on the ground. The benefit of the doubt goes to the receiver.

The Saints did get lucky on some mental errors by the Vikings, but the Saints D has given up big yardage all year and made up for it with turnovers. The Vikings committed mental errors, the Saints didn't. The better team won.

Colts/Jets: To reference Coach Greene, "They are who we thought they were." The Jets gave them a scare but then the Colts showed up.

Vikings/Saints: Minn dropped a big egg didn't they? And Farve had flashbacks to his last game as a Packer. Great game Saints.

As for Superbowl predictions... The Defensive Coordinator for the Saints is Greg Williams, former Titans DC who took them to SB XXXIV. I saw a LOT of things that reminded me of the Titans defense of old. In addition, Greg Williams is very familar with the Colts from his Titans days and back then, Williams' Defense gave the Colts Offense fits.

So combine a Greg Williams defense with Brees and the high power offense, and I see the Saints taking home the Lombardi Trophy on their first try.

those were two of the greatest games this season.  i can't wait for the superbowl.

*is sporting her archie manning jersey today at work*

i may be a colts fan (well a manning fan) and i will be wearing my colts jersey; but i'll be hoping the saints win it

i'm glad that duece got him a championship ring, i hope they sign him again for the superbowl so he can get that ring as well.  he does diserve it, because of what he did for the saints while he played with them.  Duece is the best and Pierre Thomas is an up and comming Duece.

i was glad to see that Bush still isnt afraid to hit people, the head on tackle into the vikes defense man was great :)  besides that ... where was the determined focused bush from the cardnals game!!!  i was happy to see the 06 bush return, but i was hoping the return would be for more than one game  :-\  hopefully the 06 bush will be back in the superbowl.

also, what was up with colston!!  normally the man can hold onto the ball, but last night *shakes head*  he wasn't on his A game for sure.

also, WOOT #92 on defense is awesome.  great recovery Remy!!!!  and Heartly you have offically made up for the loss against the bucks, keep it up and keep that foot nice and warmed up for the super bowl :)

it sucks about the sac on brees at the last minute by the vikes, and that in all 15 hits on farve there were no sacks.  but maybe now he's been knocked hard enough to retire for good.

the superbowl is gonna be a great game, i think it will go into OT so here are my predictions

Saints: 31

Colts: 28
