The giving away of cookies does seem particularly shady.

Of couse, so does Pallets stealing of above cookies.

I shall have to ponder.

Who is this Hansel and Gretal? You are making me suspicous with your referances of imaginary things.

I am watching you.........

Hey now, I just got back online.  :P  As much as I wish I could post while showering, my laptop generally doesn't like that sort of treatment. ;)

You're taking the cookies, but you'll be leaving more crumbs than the rest of us, which gives us a trail to follow....  My Meesh Logic has led me to conclude that Pallet is volunteering himself for a first-day lynch! :D

Posted

Your logic makes sense, but it is something that a mafioso would say to draw attention off himself.

This is maddening!!!!

Posted

That does make sense, but how do we know which of the experienced players is mafia?  Chances are, not all of them are, so we have the risk of lynching an innocent.

Of course, there's always that risk, anyway.

Still, how convenient for us newbs that don't want to get lynched. :D

So, if we want to go for experienced players, how are we going to go about deciding which one to lynch first?

- We have to decide which ones count as experienced, first.

- Then we have to try and figure out who's most suspicious

It's more work than just "Oh, you're experienced, LET'S LYNCH YOU! MUAHAHAHA!" :P

Which one would you say to be the biggest danger?

Personally i would say Talya, she was handing out cookies and thats a bad sign, plus from the games i've read everyone acknowledges her as an awesome player, but if shes not mafia then we lose a big asset.......i don't know :P

Posted

Who's our "Luck?" :P

And when I see someone named "random," I'll vote for him/her.

No okay, seriously, that's not TOO bad of an idea, but if we're going to try lynching an experienced player, we should at least go all out and hunt for the one who's Mafia.

Personally, I agree that Talya's bribing us with cookies is a very suspicious thing to do.... If she dies, no more cookies!  Mafia tactic to get on our good side? Maybe.

On the other hand, if she is Mafia, why would she draw suspicion to herself that way?  She, being an experienced player, must know that her cookies would be seen as bribery by some, and would know that people would suspect her for that.  If she was Mafia, wouldn't she want to avoid that? O.o

However, if she's innocent, why would she want to draw suspicion to herself?  The cookies do the same thing whether or not she's Mafia: they gain some favoritism, and create some suspicion.  If she's innocent, she could just not care if people suspect her, since she's innocent and won't be acting suspicious outside of the cookies.  If she's mafia, she could be gambling, hoping that people won't take her seriously.  ;)

*takes a bow*

And now, if any of you understood ANY of that, please nod your head and punch me in the arm. ;D

I just had too take out my funny comments because you wrote them in your first two lines! Because i type slow!

I agree with what you say Meesh but since this is a newbie game then other players would unwittingly see Talya gesture as being sweet and nice and not something a mafia would do. Which would be exactly the reason for doing it.

All the cookies have gone *wipes crumbs off clothes* :'(

*flicks Meesh on the shoulder*

You can stop bowing now  :D

I hadn't thought about the effect of this being a newbie game.  It does make sense that a gesture like that, which would cause suspicions and raise eyebrows in other games, wouldn't necessarily cause the same reaction here.

Those "suspicion instincts" take some time to develop, I guess.

Drat you, for ruining my brilliant analysis! :P

*stops bowing and slouches*

*mutters*

And here I was, thinking I was being all smart and witty....

mmeesh, since I agree with the theory that Mafia has to have an experienced player I was thinking that there's no point in figuring out who he or she is cause we're all newbies here and are no match for the experienced players.

That said, I thought that picking a random experienced player and lynching him is just as good a choice as any other.

Checkin' in and checkin' out the newbies...

>.> Females only

And don't tell Nae >.>

And to confirm Pale Merlot's suggestion, it is standard in newbie games to have an experienced player on the mafia. However, that means there should be two innocent experienced players too.

My advice, semisuicidal as it may sound, is to focus on one of us older (i prefer distinguished :P) players for today, so at the very least you newbies get as much experience as possible. Day 1 lynchs are almost entirely random but you gain a lot of information (voting patterns etc.) for day 2 from them. Of course, another school of thought is not to lynch anyone on day 1 but that's increasingly seen as giving the mafia a free kill.

But your game, and up to you! Just my suggestions, take what you will

I agree and random.org just got overpowered by [glow=red,2,300]Dae[/glow].

AT MIDORI:

It's good thinking, but I think you're not quite understanding things fully.

In order for the Town to win, they have to work together.  In order for the Mafia to win, they have to work together.  It's a team effort, no matter which side you're on.

If we lynch an experienced player who's innocent, we hurt ourselves and help the Mafia.  Why?

Imagine that you're on an expedition into an unfamiliar cavern.  It's deep, and you know there are mazes ahead, but that's ALL you know.  You don't know any of the twists and turns, you don't know how to find your way back out again.

But, one of your team, or maybe more, is someone who's tread this path before.  They've entered the cavern, and traversed the mazes, and emerged again.  They know how to navigate through the darkness, they know how best to lead you all out.  Are you going to kill that person just because they know things you don't? Or are you going to allow them to guide you, to teach you, to help you grow and learn the path yourself?

We're not playing "every man for himself" mafia.  We are "no match" for the experienced players, but that's only a worry if they're Mafia.

Lynching an experienced innocent and lynching an experienced mafia are two options that compare to lynching your tour guide and lynching an ancient vampire.  BIG DIFFERENCE.

Hey Tal, ditto. Oh and check out the Euromeet im setting up. (Shameless plug i know but *shrug*)

Back to the game, and i love enthusiastic newbies

In answer to Midori/Mmeesh, yes the first day lynch is random. However you do get information... who votes for who, who argues not to lynch someone etc.

And when the mafia then make their Night Kill, we can theorise who the mafia are by looking back at the posts of their victims and see who they annoyed.

Now by not lynching, you're right, we have + 1 innocent. However, we know nothing really going into the next day, as no one has really attacked anyone in a post, there has been minimal discussion and it generally band wagons to a No Lynch.

Im not going to lie. The chance of you getting a mafia day 1 are minimal. But its the information you recieve that should appropriately aid you in the future days.

As to who the experienced people are, Talya's the only one who's made my experienced list besides me, but i've taken a break for a while so i may not know those who've played a lot in the past two months. Wondering about DS but can't really confirm as to experience or not.

Just following his advice...why would that ping your radar in an RVS situation?

But if you were mafia, you would know who the other mafia is, and if he isn't then your directing away from the real mafia which could be clouded as a random lynch. Just surprised at how quick you were too vote, although i admire the aggressive approach.
