14. Sulin - Have yet to see anything posted about this anywhere, but I'm fairly certain Sulin is Rand's blood sister. In LOC after Rand is taken by Galina et al, Sulin refers to Rand as her First-Brother, and yet we know from Elayne/Aviendha that unless the ritual is performed then two people are not first-brothers/sisters unless they share the same parents. Even though we know the maidens think of Rand as the only child of a maiden to have returned it seems unlikely that any of them would actually refer to Rand as a direct relative, unless it was true, without gaining toh. Just wondering if I've got the wrong end of the stick completely here or if there could be more to come on this...

Sulin can't be Rand's blood sister, or in the very least, she can't know about it if she were. First Rands mother died in birth. Rand would have had to have been her first child as a Maiden because she wasn't there long enough to have another before that or baring that, the child would have been taken from her and given anonomously to a third party or she would have been kicked out of the maidens. It is possible that Rand's father had other childern before Rand was born, but not after. When Rand's mother died, his father became inconsolable and shortly there-after died facing Luc in the blight. If Rand's father did have children before Rand, they wouldn't be considered blood siblings, since in Aiel society that distinction comes from having the same mother.

On another topic, matchups that I'd like to see is Slayer vs Lan. RJ has already set this up. We know that Slayer has already tried to kill him once, but got the wrong room. The other matchup is Perrin vs Maesma. Perrin now knows how dangerous it is to let him run around corrupting people with his version of fanaticism. Mat vs Gholam. Just cause Mat is cool

Slayer was trying to Kill Rand, not Lan.

In his POV he's Luc and talks about his nephew, that's Rand. Lan and Isam are cousins.

We know from Winter's Heart that Moridin has sent Isam to kill Padan Fain. And it seems he was trying to kill Rand as well, but I believe that in KoD Isam will fight Fain. As to who wins, I have no clue, but this match is already set up in my mind, if Isam ever finds him.

I also think that Fain and Slayer are going to duke it out.

As for the Sulin thing, Sulin is not Rands brother.Aside from it merely being a device to show that the maidens refuard him like a son or a brother and therefore love him A) She's about 50 (her hair is completley white and is frequently described as being old and leathery but tough)

B) Rands father was young when Rand was born, he had just assumed control of a clan and he was the youngest clan chief ever, according to amys, i think around 25. Sulin would have been 30 at that time)

1. The young sitters - I got the idea that the young sitters in both halls had been raised to be under the thumb, not of the older sitters, but of the Black sitters, this works to the same purpose (allowing the two halls to integrate without two much fuss) but will provide a lot more interest.

I have always said that the sitter who are too young or out of place in the tower are pawns of the BA, Alvarian has a POV where she thinks about stacking the tower to prevent a consensuss

2. Aran'gar - We know Mrs Balthemal has a plan for Rand's death from KOD, but when it's going to play out is another question. There's also the reference in the prophecy at the start of COT saying "And it shall come to pass in the time when the Dark Hunt rides, when the left hand falters and the right hand strays..." The left hand faltering is Aginor/Osan'gar's death at Elza's hands, but as yet there is no real explanation for the right hand (Aran'gar) straying. Could we have another turncoat forsaken or is that just a reference to Aran'gar's plans for Rand? Either way it will likely be a major moment which could possibly, and finally, let the light know which foresaken are still active.

You may be right, but I believe that Mat and Perrin have already fulfilled this and the next step in the prophecy.

Perrin faltered: going off after Falie.

Mat strayed: chacing Tuon not escorting Elayne.

But it was for the best: "When the Wolf King carries the hammer, thas are the final days known. When the fox marries theraven, and the trumpets of battle are blown."

3. Sammael - he's still alive for a reason. But why? (I know there's proably no way to answer this, but I thought I'd mention it anyway)

Sammael is dead, the real question is who and why.

4. The Finn - You covered the rescue of Moiraine, but I think there's more to be considered with the event. We know the Finn deny any access to people bringing iron and fire, seems sensible you may think, but the Musical Instrument ban seems a direct reference to Thom and would mean that, not only do the Finn know Mat, Thom and (probably) Noal are on their way, but that they have always known. (The device for making fire is probably a match/firework)

They will cheat. And I don't believe that the tower entrance is gaurded in quite the same way as the ter'angreals. Furthermore we have not seen what happens when guests become violent.

5. Rand's blindness - I've never been convinced that this is actually going to happen. Despite the foggyness in his eyes after the attack by Semirhage in KOD, but I always took the blindfold in the visions to be a metaphor for Rand being unable to see what was going on around him (Taim/Demandred etc...)

I think that Rand will regain the full use of his vision.

6. How are the Seanchan going to get to Tar Valon? - Not a clue on this one, but I thought it might be worth posting to insight discussion.

KoD prologue, we see some general concerned with Suroth not sending to'raken when she orders raken to Tarbon. Or they may get lucky and collar someone who can Travel. My guess is that they plan to Travel home after flying to the Tower.

7. Nyneave/Moghedion Showdown - looking forward to this one. But when/where/how/who?

This may happen, but I'm not sure it will

8. Aviendha/Cyndane(Lanfear) showdown - the most likely to end up facing Lews Therin's former lover, could be Elayne or even Min (cant see how she's going to come out of that one though), perhaps it'll even be all three...

I think that Alivia is the more likely cantidate, but like Moghedion she is on a short leash so it may not happen. Rand may even do it himself.

9. Forced to the dark - RJ let us know very early on in the story that people can be forced to go over to the dark, through the use of 13 dark channelers and the same number of Fades, and I'd like to see it happen at some point. The most likely candidates are Elayne or Aviendha. Either of which would tip Rand over the edge, but might also help Cadsuane finally teach Rand to treasure the humanity within him rather than forcing it down. If it were Elayne this would also send Andor and Carhien to Hell along with her (until Dyelin and Dobraine take the reigns, part of me almost thinks they're in the story for this very purpose).

I think RJ may have put this in just to add excitement to TDR, if it does happen I do not believe that it will be done to anyone close to Rand.

10. Who killed Asmondean? - Not even sure if RJ hasn't decided he's given us enough to work this out already, but it might be nice if someone told Rand and co. that the guy's dead, just so they know. It could be any of the forsaken (since Asm was shocked to see them and instantly knew he was shafted), but if it was then it cant have used the power, otherwise Rand/Aviendha would have sensed it. Could have been Fain (but why? - Asm making Rand more powerful and so harder to kill?)

I don't think Fain would have known to kill him. The other forsaken could have inverted/reversed their weaves to prevent detection. And I would like to see the killer announced to Rand, Semeriage seems the most likely cantidate to provide him with the answer.

11. Shadar Haran - I've got to say I don't think Perrin's going to be the one to kill him. It could happen, but I'd say it would be more likely for Rand to do the deed. From Alviarin's encounter with the Superfade in COT it seems like RJ is building Haran up to be the Dark One himself, at present just a vessel for him to act through, but once the seals are out the way Haran might just become the Great Lord of the Dark himself. If not, I wouldn't mind seeing Perrin take him on, it certainly fits with the whole Wolves-hate-Fades subplot.

I think the Mat is the most likely person for this showdown. Shadar Horan can prevent people from channelling while channelling himself. And now that Rand needs to relearn the sword I don't think he has a prayer

12. Ogier - Seems fairly obvious, Loial will convince the gardeners to gather arms and lead them to battle, but not before more Trollocs attack Shang'tai during or shortly after the stump and insight the Ogier to close all the waygates before the last battle.

I would prefer to see trollocs swarming out of waygates, but I do think that Loial will lead them to TG

13. Galad - The new Lord Captain Commander has got to put in an appearance at some point and learn that morgase is still alive (along with everyone else). He also might like to know that Rand is his half-brother as well.

I think Perrin will provide the link

I believe that she just loves him like a brother, she seems a tad old to be the daughter of his father who was remarked upon for his youth, and definately too old to share Rand's mother, and if she did she would not know about it. I believe that the Maidens feel that Rand being the only son of a maiden known to them give them special rights of familiarity.

15. Luc/Isam/Slayer - Rand's uncle hasn't featured much so far, but we know he's going to do more. The question is when and what? It seems unlikely Gitara would have sent Luc to the Blight unless she thought it would help the future, but how?

It may be that he was sent to the Blight to prevent him from being a bother in Andor. I think Perrin will kill him.

16. Padan Fain - A very good character and someone who hasn't been seen for a while. But when is he going to make his last attack on Rand? Part of me thinks Fain might turn out to be the Gollum character of the series (him or Luc), not switching sides, but attacking the shadow of his own volition at a crutial moment and inadvertantly helping Rand. He'll probably end up dead, but after that will one of the wounds in Rand's side be able to be healed? Will the dagger get destroyed?

Someone suggested a Fain/Slayer showdown, I would like to see that. I do not know who will kill Fain.

17. Ta'veren - Perrin and Mat are ta'veren for a reason, moreso than just to fight at the last battle. I think they have to be with Rand at Shayol Ghul, but the 'why' eludes me.

I'm not sure that they will be at Shayol Ghul. I believe that Rand's roll in TG will be something like the showdown at the Eye. Mat's roll will be leading the armies, he will bind the Seanchan to Rand as Tuon will allow him to lead her armies in TG, and as he is Rand's most trusted and best general Rand will put his armies under Rand. Perrin will lead the wolves and probably most of what he has so far.

18. The rest of the foresaken - Demandred/Logain seems probable and semhirage may well die in captivity. Mesaana has to surface at some point, probably during the routing of the black ajah. Morodin is almost definitely going to have to fight Rand at the end... but what about Graendal? Is she going to 'falter' along with Aran'gar?

I believe that RG has stated that we have not seen Demandred's alter ego. Logain will get Taim, who I believe is a new forsaken, we will probably see one or two more.

Grendeal may very well survive to die in obsucrity sometime in the fourth age.

Aran'gar may very well be leashed for blowing it with the Salidar AS, the shadow is not too forgiving of failure, Delila may get fed up with him and stab hrt in the night, also keep in mind that Grendeal is a skilled manipulater and is probably playing Aran'gar too.

Rand will almost certainly get Moridin.

19. The song - at some point Rand will probably decide to tell the tinkers that he knows the song (he heard it in Rhuidean). What the outcome of this will be si unknown, but we do know the tinkers are already gathering in Altara.

I could see this happening. If it does I believe that the song will be used to fight the Blight as the armies of the world fight the creatures who live there. It would be cool if Rand sent the Maidens and Siswia'aman to gaurd the Tinkers as they sang, I don't see the other Aiel going for this plan.

20. Masema - Got to get killed along with the remnants of his scavengers. Probably by Rand after him and Perrin meet up, but possibly by Perrin after what happened with Aram.

Needs to die, not sure who or how. Falie may finaly provide some use to Perrin and do the deed herself.

21. Moiraine - She's back, but why? There must be more than to give Lan and Nyneave her blessing, what's her real roll in all this?

I would guess to provide some information to Rand, and also to shatter his list of names.

22. Verin - is she black, is she just planning things very intricately, no, she's black. Verin seems to fit neatly into the 'we must help Rand... so he can die when he should' crowd along with Elza and any other Randsworn blacks. But when is this going to come to the fore? What did she do in Far Madding years ago so she couldn't use her real name? And what has she been planning all this time?

Verin is shadowy but a servant of the Light. Verin used something like Compulsion on Elza, but rather than taking Elza's will away it made Elza want to agree with Verin. And she took the only option she saw. Verin agrees with Rand that he must die to win TG, and she intends to see him do so. Several people have said that she is heading to Tar Valon to fetch the Horn for Mat, but I think it is more likely that she is going to Mat to talk him into going to the tower to fetch it himself.

23. Liandrin / Sulroth - will most likely be taken out of seanchan occupied lands so serve the dark a mite longer. Could also be accompanied by Galina, if so this will probably happen in the prologue.

I don't see the Shadow rescuing Suroth, she is useless until proven otherwise. If she proves her resourcefullness and frees herself I could see her climbing the ranks of darkfriends once more.

Liandrin may be saved as she can channel, and I think we may see the Black Ajah trying to borrow up some dominea to augment the Shadows forces in TG.

24. Morodin / Lews Therin - Could this be how Morodin and Lews end up? Both caught in Rand's body and fighting over who survives until Alivia kills them both...?

I am currently in favor of the theory that the link will allow Rand to move into Moridin's body while Lewis Therin stays behind to die with Moridin, but who knows. No matter what happens Alivia will be there to help out.

25. Lan - I don't think Lan and his Malkieri army are going to reach Tarwin's gap anytime soon. but they will be a force to be reckoned with when they do.

The Golden Crane flies for Tarmon Gaidon. Lan wouldn't miss this if he were dead. And he will play a pivital roll in TG.

As for the Sulin thing' date=' Sulin is not Rands [b']brother[/b].quote]

We all know she is not his brother. lol

Shhh, you. Heh.

>>I have always said that the sitter who are too young or out of place in the tower are pawns of the BA, Alvarian has a POV where she thinks about stacking the tower to prevent a consensuss

Yet that doesn't explain what the Heads of the Ajah's are up to or planning together as witnessed by the BA Hunters. Then there is the fact that the BA doesn't have the power to manipulate the choosing of sitters in that manner. They don't have the numbers amongst the sisters to have rigged the vote, and the only people with that influence (which we know from Romandas thoughts about whats her name, the other old yellow sitter in salidar) are the Heads, whom we know arn't black (only Galina was) I think it far more likely that this was achieved by the Heads then the Black or the Sitters.

Especially since their age facilitates intergration of the two towers, which neither of the last two wants.

>>They will cheat. And I don't believe that the tower entrance is gaurded in quite the same way as the ter'angreals. Furthermore we have not seen what happens when guests become violent.

Indeed, i agree completely. And if RJ has proven anything, none of the characters are too powerful to fight. The Forsaken weren't, the Aes Sedai weren't, and the Finn won't be, despite how mysterious they are.

>>I think that Rand will regain the full use of his vision.

This i disagree on. RJ seems to like inflicting ongoing injuries on Rand--the two wounds that don't heal, the power aquisition sickness, LTT and encroaching madness which sticks around despite the cleansing, his personality flaws and now his hand and eyes... i think he is being prepped to be a rather shitty body to live in, therefore his escape into Moridins body will be poetic.

>>KoD prologue, we see some general concerned with Suroth not sending to'raken when she orders raken to Tarbon. Or they may get lucky and collar someone who can Travel. My guess is that they plan to Travel home after flying to the Tower.

My guess is that they plan to occupy the Tower, not go home. But nevertheless you are right, to'raken can carry around a dozen people, and depending on how many there are (judging from what we've seen there may be up to a thousand of them, or more...) that could land a force of 12,000 in tar valon... probably departing from tarabon.

>>I think the Mat is the most likely person for this showdown. Shadar Horan can prevent people from channelling while channelling himself. And now that Rand needs to relearn the sword I don't think he has a prayer

What SH does does not actually seem to be channeling, but nevertheless... what if it is Loial's role to kill SH? After all, they are of a size. I still think it will be Perrin.

>>Rand will almost certainly get Moridin.

I still think its Alivia's task to kill Moridin.

>>Verin agrees with Rand that he must die to win TG, and she intends to see him do so. Several people have said that she is heading to Tar Valon to fetch the Horn for Mat, but I think it is more likely that she is going to Mat to talk him into going to the tower to fetch it himself.

That doesn't really seem Verin's style. She's not much of a lower level prodder.

I disagree with this. She is not a lower level prodder, but prodding Mat will give her an oppertunity to study him which does fit with her. Though she may bring the Horn to Mat. Either way I see her spending a considerable amount of time with him.

Perrin certainly strays.

Mat... I dunno. Marrying Tuon seems to be one of his major requirements.

Cases could be made for the 'gars as well. Mat, Perrin and the 'gars all seem to be following their own agendas, and paying the prices thereof, more than fulfilling the requirements of their positions.

6. How are the Seanchan going to get to Tar Valon? - Not a clue on this one, but I thought it might be worth posting to insight discussion.

I do not believe that the Seanchan will launch a "real" attack on the tower.

Here's what I forsee happening:

Rand will meet Tuon. But the possibilites before that meeting:

1. Mistress Annan will be healed from stilling and be Tuon's first example of a marath'damane whom she can trust.

2. Lieutenant General Tylee will bring positive news on Perrin--and tie Perrin as the "wolf king" into the Seanchan prophecies

3. News of suldame's ability to channel will begin to spread, disrupting Tuon's hold on the throne

4. Matt will return and she will finally let herself fall in love with him

5. Tuon might just start to channel herself

So then Tuon will meet Rand, who is going to laugh with disbelief when he finds out that Tuon is married to Matt.

Second, he will help her consolidate power in Seanchan (maybe fulfilling the prophecy of bowing to the crystal throne?), in exchange for help in Tarmon Gaidon, ending the collaring of women who can channel, and launching a fake attack on the tower to help consolidate Egwene's rule so that the Aes Sedai can begin their desperately needed preparation for Tarmon Gaidon. The Seanchan ruse would be very clever. Rand needs to get rid of Elaida--he can't trust her--but he can trust Egwene. Moreover, there is little that the Aes Sedai in the tower fear more than collaring--and Egwene, having been collared herself, can act as a testimonial from inside the tower. If a ruse worked for Elayne with the borderlanders--why shouldn't it work for Egwene?

Furthermore the relationship between Egwene and Tuon is supported by Egwene's dreams:

[Taken in part from the Wheel of Time FAQ]

She was struggling up a narrow, rocky path along the face of a towering cliff. Clouds surrounded her, hiding the ground below and the crest above, yet she knew that both were very far away. [...] Abruptly, the ledge dropped away from under her with the crack of crumbling stone, and she caught frantically at the cliff, fingers scrabbling to find a hold. [...] Suddenly a woman appeared, clambering down the sheer side of the cliff out of the clouds, making her way as deftly as if she were walking down stairs. There was a sword strapped to her back. Her face wavered, never settling clearly, but the sword seemed as solid as the stone. The woman reached Egwene's level and held out one hand. "We can reach the top together," she said in a familiar drawling accent.

Egwene, herself believes this is a Seanchan character--and the WoT FAQ initially proposes that this would be Egeanin, but I think we can say that Egeanin's character has decreased in prominence while Tuon has become one of the central characters. The next quote further supports this:

[Egwene climbs up on top of a spire.] A small white plinth stood centered in that circle, supporting an oil-lamp made of clear glass. The flame on that lamp burned bright and steady, without flickering. It was white too. Suddenly a pair of birds flashed out of the mist, two ravens black as night. Streaking across the spire-top, they struck the lamp and flew on without so much as a pause. The lamp spun and wobbled, dancing around atop the plinth, flinging off droplets of oil. Some of those drops caught fire in midair and vanished. Others fell around the short column, each supporting a tiny, flickering white flame. And the lamp continued to wobble on the edge of falling.

The ravens are obviously the Seanchan and I think that the dream proves that unless Egwene cooperates with Tuon--bad stuff lays in store for the future of the Aes Sedai.

I agree about marrying Tuon, but reluctance to take up his responsability has always been a running theme with Mat. It really hasn't been until KoD that he's buckled down and accepted his role.

Perhaps, but i dont really believe that Verin is in it for the studying either. Certainly her intentions with Rand were about more then study, yet thats what she told Suine and Moiraine.

Dragonflower - There is just no time for what you said to take place. It would require a massive ideological change at the heart of the Seanchan, and that does mean massive, since we've seen the strength of Tuon's convictions. Additionally we know that the books will never go to Seanchan, so there will be no bowing to the crytal throne or Rand helping her regain the Empire (note: that was a false prophecy in any case).

Additionally, since we know that the Seanchan are marshelling their forces already, this is no false attack they plan on the Tower. The attack will be coming soon--indeed, before Rand and Tuon meet, because Rand wouldn't allow an attack on Tar Valon to take place, and since we know that rand and Tuon will likely meet within a week of the end of KoD its likely the attack is already underway, it just hasn't reached the city yet.

For your scenario to have worked, then Egwene and Galgen would have had to have an alliance in place for at least two books (as that is when we first began encountering suspicions of a Seanchan plan to assault TV) Which wouldn't fit the dreams in any case since Egwene saw a women. Additionally Tuon would have to, in the space of a week, completely re-ajust her position, a position she has shown that she is sticking to tenaciously despite all the evidence that she is wrong. (and it wont be Anan that changes her mind since A) she has no access to a viable method of healing, and given mats direction isn't likely to for about a month and B) We do not know yet if being burned out can even be healed) It would require a Seanchan to be in contact with Egwene already. It just cannot work... not in any dirrivative either i expect.

I do think that the Seanchan will attack the Tower, but I think that Rand will have a direct part in stopping the attack (perhaps by forcing Tuon to withdraw???), thus fulfilling the prophecy about him knowing the Amyrlin's anger (when Egwene finds out about him saving Tar Valon, she will berate him, saying she could have handled it herself, etc.).

On the Amrylin's anger, I agree with Jellybelly--it could very well already have occurred. A lot of Egwene's dreams have already been fulfilled in trivial ways--while others have been fulfilled in obvious ways. Also, Elaida could very well be the amrylin that Rand upsets. I think Jordan really enjoys using these dreams/foretellings to play with us...

On the Seanchan attack,

It would require a massive ideological change at the heart of the Seanchan, and that does mean massive, since we've seen the strength of Tuon's convictions. Additionally we know that the books will never go to Seanchan, so there will be no bowing to the crytal throne or Rand helping her regain the Empire (note: that was a false prophecy in any case).

I think a massive ideological change is possible--the Seanchan homeland is on the brink of chaos--meanwhile Tarmon Gaidon is approaching and a Seanchan soldier has yet to see a single Trolloc.

On the prophecy--I reread that part--and you're right--the correct prophecy is that Rand will "bind the nine moons to him," which of course, is distorted in the Seanchan prophecy. But I still think that supports a possible "fake attack" on the tower. I agree that there's a possibility that the Seanchan will start an attack on the tower but Rand will recall them, but currently, I think the plot is moving towards an immediate confrontation between Tuon and Rand, which can only result in Rand's favor--and hopefully Egwene's.

I think the tower action play out like this:

Egwene ticks off Elaida at the dinner to the point that the insufferable woman decideds Egwene will be beheaded. Gaywn saves her. At that time, the Seanchan launch their "attack" alongside the rebels. They overtake the tower. Elaida is killed by Alviaran who can't help but take advantage of the opportunity. I think it would be proper justice if Alviaran is caught and collared and/or executed. Messana is the wildcard in this. She may stay out of it--or she might leap right in.

The threat of an impending Seanchan attack might very well merge the two Aes Sedai groups. The ones in the tower are already tired of Elaida, and Egwene's show of resistance may convince many that she is a better Amyrlin that Elaida. I just think it would be somewhat fitting for Elaida to get deposed almost exactly like she deposed Siuan.

Slayer - thats pretty much what i think.

As for the anger, it may be about something thats happened already, but the anger itself hasn't because rand hasn't been face to face with an Amyrlin since the second book... or is that what you meant?

Personally I think Gwayn's decision which leads to happiness or ruin is whether to help in another coupe like he assisted Elaida with. That and maybe Egwene using the one power against sisters since I vaguely remember her having a dream where she says they forgot she hasn't sworn the three oaths.
