Bringing the Darkness Home?

It had been three weeks and four days since the messenger pigeon had left Fal Dara for Tar Valon, Kyn was getting impatient, while it was nice having some down time in a city that was openly friendly to the Tower it was also an annoyance at times. They had gotten a return pigeon within a week and knew a contingent had been dispatched to aid in the return of these children to the White Tower, since the Shadow had showed such an interest in them... even up to the point of a small scale assault upon the city walls by the force that had been following them. Loraine, Kabria, Perivar, himself and the two children had taken up residence at one of the finer inns in the city, and Kabria and Perivar had been learning some of the pains and joys of bonded life. The children seemed to be normal, or at least normal enough for the trauma they had been through. Normal other than the ability to bend the one power to their will with seeming skill if the Aes Sedai were to be believed.

Kyn was sitting in the common room of the inn when the page ran in, he looked winded as he took a quick glance around the room and his eyes settled on Kyn himself. With a rush he delivered a simple message, "They have arrived." Kyn smiled and nodded and rose, tossing the boy a silver mark for his work and turned before he could see the reaction. He took the stairs two at a time and opened the door to their room softly as he stepped through. "They have arrived..."

Melenis took a deep breath of the cold Borderland air before waiting for the rest of her party. She didn't know much about the nature of this mission save that they were to pick up two people, children really, though she couldn't help but wonder why such a large force would be dispatched. The last time she had come across someone who could channel, it was just Loraine, Kynwric, Thera and a handful of Trainees, herself included. The group of Tower Guards that had come along this time though was greater in both number and skill than they had been. With the average Novice being dragged in by a lone Aes Sedai and her Warder the times she had spotted one, she couldn't help but feel a bit wary of her surroundings.

Forming the Void, she scanned the area, using the heightened senses the Void granted her to miss even less than usual. Though her ashandarei was still slanted across her back -- no need to offend the people of Fal Dara by approaching their gates with weapons in hand -- she was prepared to have it drawn and ready in less than a second, and she doubted the same would not be true for any other Tower Guard that had come along.

Word of the arrival had been brought by one of the servants. Perivar watched as the servant bowed to Kabria giving her the message then bowing out. He eyed her with a look of pride as she pressed a coin into the bowing servant's hand who eyed her with respect and awe. Most Borderlanders held Aes Sedai in high regard, he knew it all to well but he was not sure if she had experienced anything like it before. It was funny to see her being treated like a Queen, he had told her many times that she was more powerful than a Queen though she always dismissed his comments. She knew it for the truth now with everyone bowing and scraping for her making sure she was happy. She even managed to keep a civil tongue with everyone but him.

"Don't look at me like that!" She would yell at him though he could feel through the bond that it was just the frustration of him being right. He had told her but she refused to believe him. He would just smile at her though the amusement would pass through the bond which would make her angry. That resulted in harsh words on her end and the occasional thrown object which only made him more amused which in turn made her more angry with him. By the end of the night it was time for making up which was...breathtaking to say the least. Kabria was always passionate in all facets of life but this was...this was beyond compare. The bond between them made it even more sensational. A few more weeks of this and his head would explode.

The bowing and scraping would have been even worse had they stayed in the palace as opposed to the tavern. She would have been afforded a handful of servants to see to her every need. Perivar followed as she glided from the room...like a Queen. He smiled at her back, his amusement flowed the the bond and she glared at him over her shoulder. Perivar's smile widened which snapped her head back to face forward again. By what he felt through the bond she must have been furious with him. One day he would learn to be careful with his thoughts but for now it was too much fun.

Perivar held the door for Kabria then gave the appropriate courtesies to Loraine Sedai and Master Kynwric as he entered their room. Kabria went to sit near Loraine Sedai as Master Kynwric gave Perivar instructions. Master Kynwric was going to handpick a few of the Tower Guards which he would command. Master Kynwric would be personally responsible for the safety of the children while the remainder of the Tower Guards would be Perivar's responsibility. Master Kynwric would be in command of the entire mission but this would free up Master Kynwric focus on the most important part of the escort mission. If it came to it Master Kynwric and the others could whisk the children away while Perivar, Kabria, and the detachment of Tower Guards bought them the precious time they needed to escape and complete the delivery to Tar Valon.

Perivar had very nearly grimaced at the news. Light, this was the last thing he wanted. Somehow once he became a Warder he never thought he would have to command anyone. His father had tried to prepare him for it but when he went to the Tower he thought that was all behind him. He was finally a Warder and never thought he would have to lead anyone. He was a fool for he had seen Master Kynwric lead often enough but it always seemed natural for the man. He never thought of himself as a leader.

Perivar could feel something through the bond. He glanced at Kabria and could see her studying him. He didn't need the bond, the question was plain on her face. She was wondering what had him so on edge. He turned his attention back to Master Kynwric as he instructed him further on his duties.

Kabria looked in the mirror and tucked a few more hairs behind her ear. Examining the effect it had on her face, she was still years away from gaining the ageless face and yet sometimes from the corner of her eye she thought she almost began to see it former. Just behind her left shoulder she could see Perivar sitting on the bed grinning at her back. She had not needed the smile on his face to know what he was feeling. Since they had bonded a few days ago, he had come alive it her head. It had not taken long for her to figure out what the warm pulsing through the bond meant….or the shining veins of gold.

Turning around she put her fists on her hips and tried to appear stern. Perhaps before they had bonded it would have worked, but now he only grinned harder and eyed her up and down. Rolling her eyes she walked over and opened the door to admit a young man, who was carrying a note. She waited patiently while he bowed and presented the note. Every bit as flowery as if they had been in a palace. Slipping a silver mark into the young boys hand she gave him a small smile as he bowed his way out of the door. Kabria wasn’t sure if it was the coin or her smile, but the young man left grinning from ear to ear.

Making a vexed and slightly irritated noise she turned her icy glare to Perivar. Ever since they’d gotten to Fal Dara it had been Aes Sedai this and Aes Sedai that and people bowing at every turn. It was irritating and beyond annoying, she had tried to order them to stop but it only lasted until her back was turned. The worst of all was Perivar smug grin and his I told you so feeling flowing through the bond. Had she not enjoyed their relations so much, with the added awareness of the bond, she would have made him sleep on a pallet on the floor.

As they headed down the hall and into Loraine and Kynwric’s room she gave Kyn and nod and grabbed a hold of Lor’s arm pulling her across the room to question her once again on the bond. It seemed in the weeks since they’d bonded every day brought more discoveries and more questions.

From across the room she could feel Perivar’s sudden angst and she shook her head slightly at Loraine questioning look. There was no doubt that his angst was a mirror of her own, just as Loraine’s was surely a mirror of Kynwirc’s. None of them would rest easy until the children were safe in Tar Valon.

Loraine smiled, a bit of tension she hadn't realized she'd been suffering from easing from between her shoulders. This would be over soon, then, and she could breathe. She'd seen to the children's schooling while they'd been here and knew this was going to be difficult for them when they made it to the Tower. They'd relied on each other, learned a crude method of handling their gift and even had their own form of language with their hands. It reminded her of what she'd seen of the Maidens the brief time she and Kyn had been with a group of Aiel. To be honest, she'd forgotten why she was with them, it had been so long ago. She remembered precious little of the encounter, but the hand signals had earned themselves a note in her memory. It was fascinating to see the same type of communication in two children so far from the Waste.

She sent a note to Kabria's room, knowing it wouldn't take a minute before the Aes Sedai and her new warder would be with them. They'd all been chomping at the bit waiting here. She smiled as Kabria entered and bit off a laugh as she was pulled aside to discuss the bond more. It made her feel needed and useful. She smiled as Kabria's eyes seemed to daze off and her head turned towards Perivar. She was getting used to the feelings in her head and translating them, it was pretty obvious. The next thing she'd have to learn was how to feel them and not lose stride with her own conversation. She'd had a particularly difficult time with that, herself...

"Come, let's see what our men have in store for us before they throw us in the midsts of the party about to walk through our door." She paused and smiled at a servant who entered the room. "Mr. Beilin, we will be having guests soon, could you arrange for refreshment for them and their horses. I'd expect they'll be needed rooms for at least a night, perhaps two while we make arrangements to go." He nodded stiffly and retreated, leaving her smiling after him. She winked at Kabria. "I believe he's not used to being asked so nicely. I shall have to remember to be tooth-achingly sweet for the next day or so, just to spoil him..."

Selene was both excited and nervous at being away from the Tower. She almost felt like she'd spent her whole life in those shining walls and had never left them, forgetting the fact that it was only a few years ago that she'd seen the Tower for the first time. It was home to her now, and as much frustration as it caused to always be cooped up in there, it gave her a lot of comfort as well. There was safety in the Tower, and there should be safety here among the contingent of Tower Guards, but all Selene could think about was that they needed so many Tower Guards. Rasheta Sedai had been sparing with the details of the trip, and Selene had been surprised to be invited along the trip. She'd seen Rasheta training in the Warders' Yard when Selene herself had been there learning from Perivar, and it was there that the serene Aes Sedai has asked the girl to accompany her on this trip.

Selene knew that they were to meet up with Loraine Sedai, which her brother had spoken fondly of on the brief occasions when the two could talk, and that there were channelers that would be escorted back to the Tower. All that made sense, but what didn't was why they needed so many people to bring them home. Selene had made the trip to the Tower with just her brother, then an inexperienced boy, and they'd been fine. Well, mostly fine. Selene waved off the thought of Jasine's fever and the man in Caemlyn as not mattering much. She had never been one to dwell on the negatives.

She pressed her leg against Rao's side and the well-trained mare sidestepped towards Jerinia with willing ease. The taller girl was a borderlander herself and would know the area much better. Selene spoke in a hushed whisper to the girl, needing mostly just the reassurance of conversation to get the jitters out of her system. Even after the majesty of Tar Valon, Selene was a little awed at the foreboding sharp lines of Fal Dara, the Shienar city looking more like a vast fortress than a welcoming city. With a whispered reminder from the Malkieri girl, Selene nodded quickly and shook the hood of her cloak down to her shoulders so that it did not shadow her face.

As if anyone could think little ol' me was a Fade. She knew the Myrddraal were real, she knew trollocs were real, but even this close to the blight she had a hard time accounting for the palpable fear and readiness with which the locals greeted the fact of the shadowspawn.

Jerinia was feeling a bit restless, if not outright nervous about this trip 'up north', as she saw it. The last time she had been around Fal Dara, it had been on her way south from Malkier back when she and her mother were heading to the White Tower. Though she knew she wouldn't be heading further north than this, she still hoped to catch some rumors about other Malkieri that might still be around, maybe even word of whether or not her father had survived the battle. The chance of coming across such rumors were extremely small, but she couldn't suppress her own curiousity enough to stop trying.

Selene asked her a question, and she replied without thinking. Though it had been a Malkieri custom, the Shienarians had adopted it when they became one of the Borderlands fifty years ago. As they approached the walls of Fal Dara, she absently touched the blue ki'sain on her forehead, casting a glance on the gates they would soon pass through. Again biting her lip somewhat nervously, she moved over to Rasheta Sedai to ask her a question.

- "Umm... Rasheta Sedai? Is it okay if i asked around a bit when we get to the city? Just to see if my dad passed through here some time ago?"

Perivar assured Master Kynwric that he would do as he instructed. He smiled as the Aes Sedai approached studying Kabria for the moment. Well he was studying that ball of emotions nestled in his head but his eyes were locked on her as he probed it. Loraine Sedai and Master Kynwric had told him and the others much about the bond but it took some getting used to having another person's emotions in your head.

Perivar was still getting used to interpreting what passed through the bond. One thing was easy to detect. The unconditional love, shining veins of gold pulsed through the bond whenever she looked at him or thought of him he suspected. It was always there, interlaced with her other emotions though at times it was so strong he thought his head would burst like a melon. When they were intimate for instance, the pulsing veins of gold were combined with other emotions that made his whole body feel as if it were a volcano on the edge of erupting. Kabria's cheeks began to heat from what he was sending through the bond. Quickly he tried to tamp it down replacing it with grim determination while he offered her an apologetic smile. Light she was beautiful.

Perivar began to think on his responsibilities so the grim determination was easy to maintain. He was going to be responsible for a detachment of Tower Guards. More than a handful and less than a banner was all he knew until they arrived at the inn. He was itching to be on with his preparations though he patiently waited as matters were discussed. He was also eager for the trip to get underway. As wonderful as it had been being alone with Kabria he simply hated being idle. Thankfully Loraine Sedai had the children setup with schooling while they were in Fal Dara but they still had to keep an eye on the children. Something they all took turns doing when they were not at their studies. They all seemed eager to get underway and deliver the children to the Tower.

Kyn was watching Perivar as he spoke to him, watching his attention wander to Kabria every so often as some turn was taken in the others conversation. It was hard for him to do anything but smile about it, it was a weird feeling, having someone else in your head.

Finally everything seemed to be ready, he could hear the march coming up the avenue towards the Inn and he nodded to Loraine. "Lets go meet them in the street..." And once they were all ready in a minute or two he led the way down the stairs and out to meet Rasheta Sedai and her column. Once out and certain on whom they were meeting he stepped aside and let Loraine do the talking.

Loraine had to admit, this trip was a welcome break for her. The thought of it as a break was rather intriguing, especially considering she hadn't been so physically exhausted since the twins made their majority and moved away. No, the break was stepping back and allowing Kynwric to do most of the talking, most of the decision making. Around other Aes Sedai, that didn't happen so obviously. It had been a welcome break. She nodded, knowing that break was coming to an end.

Once outside the house, Loraine had to smile. The Tower had sent quite a contingent and she couldn't have hoped for a better collection. She waited for their guests to swing down from their mounts before approaching. "Rasheta, it's a pleasure to see you, again! I trust your journey has been uneventful? I fear it will not be so, now that you are here. Please, come in..." she waved and boys from the stable approached the riders for their horses. "Your horses will be seen to, please, I've arranged for refreshments. I even promise that there's only enough tea for me and two others." She grinned, knowing her habit of offering had become a bit of a humorous thing around the Tower.

Her eyes skimmed the group and she couldn't help the twitch of her lips. Faces she recognized met her gaze and her unease at the coming journey was slowly set to rest. Oh, they had much to fear and so much could go wrong. With this collection, she prayed that they'd be able to contain it when it did, though.

Perivar followed Kabria and the others outside to meet the group. He stood to the side and a step behind Kabria. He nodded and gave Selene a smile. With her long blonde locks that fell below her waist, she was easy to spot. It took a moment for her to recognize him. His hair was cut short now, the belled braids that had been so much a part of him and his past were gone. It still seemed as if he could hear the bells chiming softly when he turned his head. Selene smiled back and Kabria turn her head slightly to glance at him. Something flowed through the bond...he couldn't quite put it into words...like a lioness marking what was hers...that was the best he could do. He touched her sleeve, Kabria knew he was training Selene in the yards and she was not very happy about it. It was nothing against Selene but she was possessive of him with reason. He was only a Tower Guard then and had no choice who he trained. He did not get to pick his students anymore than she got to pick hers when she was an Accepted. He quickly counted the Tower Guards. They consisted of one Bannerman and 20 Guards, one of which was Melenis. He caught her eye and nodded to her respectfully. He hoped that she was not one of the Tower Guards that he had to command. They had been raised together and were very close skillwise. Even though he was a Warder now he would still be uncomfortable having authority over her.

Perivar followed Kabria inside then went to Master Kynwric to receive his instructions and discuss accomodations for the Guardsmen. The Bannerman was already seeing to the Tower Guards so they were in capable hands for now. "Should I see if the Commander of the Watch can house some of the Guards in the Barracks? We can find a room or two here at the inn for a handful of them but the rest will have to go to the Barracks or the inn's hayloft." He mentioned his discomfort with potentially having command over Melenis and asked that Master Kynwric take her in his contingent. Master Kynwric knew her worth so she would be a natural choice for a special detail. Perivar patiently waited for a response and any additional instructions.

Kabria picked up her skirts and followed just a step behind Loraine. As proper Perivar followed a pace behind her, that had been his instance since they’d bonded. Light they were bonded! At the oddest moments it would hit her and she would find a huge grin on her face. Careful of her features she did glace back and give him a small smile. The best thing she had gained from his bond was the ability to know where and how he was at all times. It was a gift that any couple so much in love should be able to share.

Outside the house Kabria was surprise to count so many heads and even more shocked to see Selene. She saw the twit grin at her warder and his smile in return. Not a muscle moved and her expression didn’t alter a hair, but she looked back over her shoulder at Perivar and knew that he didn’t need words to know what she felt. When they had still been in the Tower she’d had to deal with the fact that he was training the young woman, but now. Now it would be her that directed his hand and gave permission for him to teach. Another flash of white hot jealousy shot through Kabria and she thought of having Perivar marked, a tattoo or a stamp. She wanted him mark with more than the scratches that decorated his back and his ring. Somehow, right now that just did not seem enough. Like all irrational emotions she tapped it down and stomped on it, but still made a mental note to occupy all of his free time until they could leave Tar Valon again.

Turning her attention away from her jealousy and to the crowd at hand, she made an attempt to focus. She was here for a purpose after all. Spotting Melenis she gave her a small smile and as they headed inside stopped to say a few words and ask after how she’d been. She and Perivar had been raised together though they did not seem as close now days.

Pouring her own tea Kabria entered into conversation with one of the Guards, keeping a close eye on Selene and Perivar. It wasn’t him that she didn’t trust, it was every woman ever born. When he engaged with Kynwric she let some of her guard drop and set to making everyone feel comfortable and welcome. As much as she could, given the task that they would face. Still Kabria smiled and offered of drinks and asked about their journey. Even offering healing if anyone had any ills. She was the perfect hostess and the idealized image of an Aes Sedai.

OOC: I hope this is okay, the school work is eating my mind. If I need anything changed Lor let me know :)

IC:

Rasheta had been summoned and asked to take two Accepted from the White Tower to Fal Dara, oddly enough she was to see Loraine while she was there. She had found the Accepted Selene on the training yards sometime ago and Accepted Jerinia she had, had to go and find. She didn't mind to much taking Accepted outside the tower but she didn't want to go to the borderlands. She had lost a warder to the blight and if she never saw it again it would be to soon.

Rasheta had taken the girls from the tower and many times wondered what she was doing. As the borderlands got closer she felt herself get harder and more abrupt to the two Accepted she was escorting. She felt terrible she found she had tears in her eyes when she went to bed and when she woke up. The loss was still strong even many years later.

The small party that Rasheta was leading came to Fal Dara, and Rasheta pulled her Green Shawl from her saddle bags making sure that she looped it over her arms, she slowed her horse to a walk as well so the shawl could not fall from her shoulders. Aes Sedai were respected in the borderlands and this was a welcome break from the distrust of the other nations. Rasheta was thinking on her last time here when the accepted Jerinia asked her a question.

"Umm... Rasheta Sedai? Is it okay if i asked around a bit when we get to the city? Just to see if my dad passed through here some time ago?"

Rasheta had never understood why girls had to call her "sedai" even after her insistance that they do not outside the tower. She liked her full name and liked hearing it whenever she could. She twisted to look at Jerinia and shook her head. "No child not until we see Loraine and her warder." She added just a bit more sturnly "We are here for a reason child." Although Rasheta had other busniess as well.

She hurried the girls through the city as quickly as she could until they found the house where Loraine and her warder were staying. She was a little surprised to see both Loraine and her warder, as well as Kabria and another warder waiting for them. She dismounted

"Rasheta, it's a pleasure to see you, again! I trust your journey has been uneventful? I fear it will not be so, now that you are here. Please, come in..."

Rasheta nodded and tried to smile at Loraine, it would not do to be hard and cold to a sister from her own Ajah.

"The journey was tolorable sister, I look forward to hearing what this is all about." She followed Loraine into the house glancing back at the two Accepted who had come with her ensuring they were following.

Jerinia hesitantly nodded at Rasheta's answer, biting her lip again as she looked around while the party entered the gate of the Shienarian capital. She knew it was unlikely that she would spot her father, even if she would recognise him -- Light, he'd be old by now! -- but she couldn't help but try. Running a hand through her red hair, she took a deep breath before walking into one of the Inns. Rasheta was there, and one of the Greens she believed she'd seen somewhere before, which would make the guy next to her her Warder. Probably.

Though she was inside the room now, she remained close to the exit. Rasheta had said she would be allowed to go out after she had seen Loraine and her Warder... which they now had. She was shifting her weight from one foot to the other, glancing at the door while trying to refrain from darting out entirely. Though she had been given just about every penance imaginable, she had never willingly broke a rule -- as odd as that may have sounded -- and she wasn't about to start now. Still, the cold and snow were dragging up old memories of home, and she was starting to feel more than a little homesick as well.

- "Umm.."

She decided not to speak up, though she knew Rasheta knew she was still there. Fidgeting with her cloak, she tried to keep herself too occupied to bother either Aes Sedai for at least a minute. Ten seconds.. Twelve.. Fifteen...

Not trying to be pushy

Upon reaching the Inn, Melenis turned around, trying to organise the Tower Guards into ranks. She didn't know much about how to actually lead, but her rank as a Defender meant she had some degree of responsability over the other Tower Guards. Of course, the Warders that had come with them were still in command of the group as a whole, but she would need the experience for when she would become a Warder herself one day. This had been, in Thera's words, a 'good learning experience'.

Satisfied with how the ranks were looking, not to mention be thankful most of them had the discipline to know what would be expected of them, she turned around as well, taking up a position among them. Glancing inside, she thought she saw Perivar, though the brief second she had been able to look inside meant she wouldn't be able to confirm up until the moment she'd step inside herself. Though it'd definitely feel odd to have someone she had often trained with be her commanding officer, she'd be able to put herself past that. That was the chain of command, and she would abide by it.

Kynwric nodded to Melenis as the party dismounted and came inside. He did not know the Banner-sergeant in charge of the Tower Guard contingent. He looked through the rest of the ranks and recognized next to no one, he knew they hadn't been gone that long so he hoped it was mere happenstance he didn't know any of the guards.

However, having Melenis already in the contingent made him rethink putting Perivar in charge, he thought it would be better to have Melenis in command since she would already have a working knowledge of the unit. Perivar would simply have to accept the fact that this was how things would be. Once the Aes Sedai were safely ensconced inside he drew bothe Melenis and Perivar aside. "Perivar, I've changed my mind. I think Melenis should be in command of the Banner. You should tend to your Sedai and keep an eye on those accepted as well." He checked to make sure Melenis understood that it was a command for her as well as Perivar.

Perivar smiled when Master Kynwric told him that Melenis would command the guards. A look of relief showed on his face, it was as if a huge weight had been lifted from his shoulders. Normally he would have felt bad about feeling relief though all he cared about at the moment was being Kabria's Warder. Suddenly the rest of his words struck home. Keep an eye on the Accepted? If Kabria saw him looking after them she would go up like a bundle of fireworks. His face took on a worried look, the last thing he needed was anything to do with the two Accepted, especially Selene.

He lowered his voice so that only Master Kynwric and Melenis could hear "Master Kynwric, with all due respect I think it would be best if I had nothing to do with the Accepted. Kabria Sedai will not take kindly to it. She was not very happy with me training any of the Accepted when I was a Tower Guard though she knew there was nothing I could do about it. Now it is different, now that I am her Warder I think she may go up like a bundle of fireworks if she knows that I am looking after them. I don't think that she will allow me to do it Master Kynwric. Perhaps Melenis could spare one or two Guardsmen to keep an eye on them." His look was half pleading as he turned from Master Kynwric to Melenis. The bottom line was that he was Kabria's Warder, her word was law. That and he didn't want her angry with him. He felt like he was caught between Master Kynwric and his Aes Sedai. He had never shunned duty before or even thought of trying to get out of doing a difficult task but he was bound to Kabria and would do as she commanded. He had to do as she said. There were few things that scared him, her being angry with him was certainly one of them. He avoided that at all costs.

Melenis frowned when she heard she was to lead the Tower Guards, and couldn't help but look over her shoulder at them. While she was the most skilled of the group, she hadn't imagined herself to get to be the commander, and a short exchange of looks between the Banne-- well, former Banner-sergeant told her he was as surprised as she was. She made a mental note to spar him later tonight, it was a good way to vent some anger while discussing the details between them. Or so she had heard.

For that same reason, she decided against audibly confirming her new position, not wanting to force her new second-in-command against her from the start. There would be plenty of time for that later on, but key would be not to give the Tower Guards under her the chance to slip confusion amongst them. Despite the chain of command being altered, there was still a chain of command to follow. A look from both her and the Banner-sergeant at once silenced the few murmurs that could be heard before they had a chance to spread, and she had the feeling it would become a long night indeed...

Jerinia was still edging towards the door when she heard one of the people in te room with her be assigned to watching over the Accepted. She was Accepted too, so that would mean he would be her bodyguard, right? And that meant she would be allowed to go out now and ask the questions she had wanted to ask and not get in danger! Yay! Stepping forward quickly, she grabbed Perivar's arm and tried to drag the poor Warder through the door leading out with her.

- "Ah good, come on, i've got a bunch of questions i want to ask to the people here. Where do you think we should start? The taverns, right? It's always the taverns in the stories..."

Perivar, she found, turned out to be quite a bit harder to drag around than the average person she knew, probably due to being Warder-trained and all. Though she was no pushover herself -- one could only sweep the floors so many times before developing quite a bit of strength and stamina -- he seemed too intent on talking to some person near him, making her look at the other woman as well. Nope, no ageless look, so no Aes Sedai. Giving Kabria an apologetic look, she turned back to trying to drag Perivar out of the room with her. Suddenly, she remembered something, and immediately let go of Perivar's arm, likely causing him to crash into something (or someone) while she looked at Rasheta.

- "Umm... I almost forgot. Am i allowed to go yet?"

Selene sat quietly on Rao's back, staring around her at the new city. She'd never been further north than Tar Valon and her excitement actually kept her tongue still, rather than it usually going the other way. She saw Perivar and wanted to wave to him and leap off her horse to go give him a hug but she was struggling with trying to emulate the Sedai and she'd never seen a Sedai run and hug anyone so she stayed put until one of the Tower Guards came over to her and held her stirrup for her to dismount.

She stared at him for a full two seconds before she realized what he was doing. She'd never in her life had someone hold her stirrup, she'd always just leaped off the horse as easily as she did leaping onto it. She couldn't suppress the giggle and bright smile that accompanied it, but she did dismount. She was careful not to kick the thoughtful man and she let her eyes linger on him for a long moment, wondering what kind of warder the man would make.

Much too obedient for me, I couldn't rely on him to tell me when I was being a daft fool. She smiled at that thought too and thanked the man. She took down her saddle bags off the mare before he led the horse away to be stabled - likely by a stablehand, but she let the horse pass from her mind as she joined the much taller Accepted waiting for orders from Rasheta Sedai or Loraine Sedai. She fidgeted for a moment but then redoubled her efforts to appear calm and poised and serene.

Just like an Aes Sedai should.

Kabria felt a great rush of relief from Perivar and then something she could only describe as caution. From a across the room the looked over the head of the young guard she was speaking to and arched an eyebrow at her warders back. He was huddled with Melenis and Kynwric, no doubt speaking of things she didn’t want him to hear. Smiling and making apologies to the slightly awe struck young man she glided across the floor to stand at his side. Before she could do more than smile at the group a young woman had a hold of his arm and was trying to pull him out the door. Laying a hand possessively on his other arm she stared at the young woman with no expression.

No doubt Perivar felt her flare of jealousy, but he ignored it, which was to the best. “Is everything alright?” She smiled at Perivar showing no signs of her angst. She quirked a single eyebrow at the young woman. “Is there some reason you feel the need to paw at my Warder like a kitten searching for milk?” Her voice was icy calm, but her gaze was beginning to turn hot. “Last time I checked that was not how Accepted were taught to behave.”

Her nails were digging into Perivar’s arm, but he didn’t even flinch. His face was expressionless as he watched the volatile exchange.

Perivar felt a tugging at his arm. He knew it was not Kabria. He turned to find that it was the other Accepted. A young woman who stood as tall as he did. The hard angles of her face spoke of the borderlands though he could not say exactly where she came from. "Ah good, come on, i've got a bunch of questions i want to ask to the people here. Where do you think we should start? The taverns, right? It's always the taverns in the stories..." She tugged on his arm, she was no weakling though she was attempting to drag two people for Kabria had his other arm. Light did she not know Kabria was an Aes Sedai. Sure Kabria lacked the ageless look to her face but he thought the Accepted should know Kabria was Aes Sedai. She obviously had not seen the great spersent ring on her hand. That or the way Kabria held herself, the way she glided, she looked majestic.

He suddenly felt like the rope in a tug of war, the girl was intent on draggin him around having already dismissed Kabria. He could feel Kabria's flare of jealously and suddenly felt bad for the Accepted. Perivar dare not say a word, the question Kabria asked was obviously not directed at him. Caught between the two women he just watched the exchange. Kabria looked like a lioness about to pounce, a lioness protecting her pride. She smiled at him, Light you would think she was the Warder. He did not try to calm her either, it was not his place and she knew what she was about. Plus he was no fool, he did not want Kabria to loose her anger on him. Her voice was icy calm though by the look Kabria gave the Accepted he thought the young woman would be turned to ash. Kabria's grip on his arm was strong, her nails dug in deep though he dared not move a muscle. He had never seen her protective of him like this. A small smile formed on his face, Kabria could probably feel a hint of amusement pulsing through the bond, and love shining brighter than the sun.

Kynwric looked at the trio, between Jerinia, Perivar and Kabria and just shook his head. "Kabria Sedai, if you please could we speak in the hall?" He waited for her assent before shooting a long hard glare at both Perivar and Jerinia. "You two, hallway. Now."

Once they were all out in the hall he strode three steps down and turned left, throwing the door to the room Loraine and he were sharing and nodded inside. "In there please." He waited till all three had filed past him before shutting the door behind them. He was staring hard at Jerinia as he entered. "You girl need to keep your mouth shut, your eyes open and pay bloody attention to what the Aes Sedai are doing in that room. It is why you are here unless I've missed my mark. I could care less what questions you have about the outside world, you have been sealed to the White Tower and until someone with a fringed shawl tells you otherwise you don't care what goes on in the outside world. Any questions? No? Good... you may return and tend to Loraine Sedai and Rasheta Sedai."

Once she left the room he turned his eyes on the bonded pair. "Do I even want to know?"

Had her eyes be able to kill Kynwric would have been struck dead where he stood. Not showing any other emotion on her face she followed the trio into the Hall. When he threw the door open to the room that he and Loraine shared Kabria’s eyebrows rose and it was a frosty glare that she gave him as she passed. Oh he would hear about this!!!

Kabria stayed quiet as he chastised the girl and sent her on her way. The little twit deserved nothing less, but speaking to her that way and in front of an Accepted. Her blood boiled, but she forced her voice and face to utter calm. “Listen here Kynwric you are a friend as much as Loraine, but if you ever interfere with me in public like that again I swear I will burn you where you stand. I had the situation well underhand. There were no raised voices and no scene until you made one just then. It would do you well to remember that wise men step lightly where Aes Sedai speak.”

It was a slightly foolish thing to say considering how long he had been bonded to Loraine, but it was the only that came to mind that wouldn’t make her sound like a complete nit. She kept talking to cover any sign that she felt foolish. “If you must know the Accepted was trying to drag Perivar away, and knowing how his honor holds him she might have succeeded. The last thing we need is a Warder chasing an Accepted through the city we have a mission to complete or have you forgotten?” Smiling sweetly she dipped her head to Kynwric and walked out of the room with her skirts in her hands. "When you are done Perivar I would like to speak with you." When the door shut behind her Kabria let out a long breath. Proud that she had kept her voice calm and steady; it really did seem to be getting easier every time. Perhaps soon it would come as second nature to her as it seemed to for her sisters.

OOC: Looks good to me, Rasheta! :D

Loraine bit hard on her lip to keep from laughing. She felt Kynwric's frustrations and took a deep breath as she looked around. She outranked everyone involved in this little trip. She was older, stronger, and had seen more battles than she prayed this lot would ever have to see. It was an empty hope with the Last Battle looming over their heads, but a hope it was.

She shook her head and turned to the Sargeant who'd accompanied the Tower contingent. "We shall discuss tactics and our plans for returning to the Tower over dinner, Sargeant, if you'd like to rest yourself and your men. I believe there are accomodations waiting you in the guard house through the East Garden." She smiled, softening the order she seemed to be delivering. "Dinner shall be served promptly at sunset, so if you'd send a number of how many additional plates to set back to the kitchen, we'll ensure your captains are available for the planning and your men are well rested for our return to the Tower." His bow was a bit stiff, but there was a grateful slack to his eyes as he raised up again. Was it the drama that seemed to be throbbing in the air that did it?

She sighed inwardly and turned to the accepted, her smile twitching again as she saw familiar features in the Accepted fighting so hard to control her expression. Loraine was too old for that to work, but it was nice to see, either way. "Selene, is it? I'm Loraine. Your brother speaks highly of you," she stretched her hand out to the girl, wondering idly how long she could restrain herself. Jasine had rarely had cause to restrain himself around her, but things were much more formal when escorting Accepted than with Tower Guards.

Her thoughts spread over the rest of their little group, resting on Rasheta and nearly groaning out loud as she remembered the haunted look in the Green's eyes when they'd first met. She'd lost her warder in this region. Loraine had come close to that once or twice. She prayed she had much longer to wait before she could truly feel what Rasheta must be feeling. She made a note to check on her when they weren't surrounded by Accepted. The tense lines around Rasheta's eyes meant she was controlling her emotions. But how long would that last?

Master Kynwric's voice was polite for Kabria though when he rounded on him and the Accepted it was that commanding no nonsense you will do as you are told voice accompanied by a hard glare. Light he didn't do anything except get caught between his Aes Sedai and the Accepted. Kabria glided into the hallway then the into Loraine Sedai and Master Kynwric's room. He followed a step behind her.

Perivar listened as Master Kynwric set the Accepted straight wondering if he was about to receive the same. What was he supposed to do, manhandle the young woman? That would certainly have caused a scene.

Perivar very nearly flinched as Master Kynwric posed the question. Kabria's outward composure was a ruse, inside she was fuming. That was what he felt through the bond and he eyed her warily.

When Kabria was finished speaking to Master Kynwric she smiled sweetly as she dipped her head to him. Light she was sweet on the outside but from the bond he thought she might strike Master Kynwric. He was not so sure that she was not going to strike him as well for just being there. Perivar eyed her then made a move to follow though she spoke before he took a step. "When you are done Perivar I would like to speak with you." She would like to speak with him alright, her voice was calm and steady though that was most certainly an order.

As the door closed behind Kabria he took the initiative to speak "With all due respect Master Kynwric, I was trying to tell that it was not a good idea. If the Accepted need someone to look after them then I would recommend assigning Guardsmen to them. Either way that is your call not mine, if you expect me to look after them then that will have to come from Kabria. She wants to see me and it would not be wise to keep her long. I am not sure who she would blame if she is kept waiting." He said then glanced at the door eager to be on his way, as if he expected her to burst through it and drag him from the room.

Thankfully Master Kynwric kept it short. He did not agree with his mentor yet he was entitled to his opinion. Kabria had merely called the Accepted down for acting like a fool. She was icy calm, not loud and her words were less harsh than he had expected. If not for Kabria the girl would still have been trying to push and pull him out of the room. Perivar had heard of Accepted being called down for much less and by much harsher words. Regardless of his personal feelings he had not voiced them, it would have made little difference.

Putting that from his mind, Perivar stepped into the hallway then turned in the direction of their rooms. The bond told him that she had gone there. She meant to talk in private and there was no doubt in his mind that she was not expecting to be kept waiting. Perivar walked down the hall quickly with a purpose. He entered the room and closed the door behind him hoping she did not plan on taking her anger out on him. He suspected this would be one of those talks where she discussed her expectations of him as her Warder. The one thing he was certain of is that she commanded and he obeyed. Her word was law for him, it was simple in a way. The rest would come in time he supposed.

Rasheta followed Loraine and then simply watched and waited to see what would happen. She hadn't been fully sure what she was doing here in the borderlands other then she was to escort the two Accepted here. She wasn't sure why one of them, Jerinia she thought it was, wanted to be away in the city but the girl was practically quivering with anticipation. Rasheta could remember that her first time here she had wanted to see whatever she could. She had, however, had a guide and she had already been an Aes Sedai. She tried not to smile at the girl but for a moment she couldn't help it.

Loraine was speaking to Selene then and the warder Kynwric appeared next to his Aes Sedai seemingly out of nowhere. She saw Loraine look at her and almost wince. Rasheta knew that she probably didn't look well she hated being where she was, however she would not let her feeling of grief stop her from doing whatever was needed. She addressed Loraine. "Should we allow the Accepted to leave and explore the city till dinner is served? I think Jerinia is going to explode with anticipation."
