An Ogier Visit

Recommended Posts

Tired from her travels, (she got lost twice), Lorei finally arrives at the last known position of the Band of the Red Hand. She hears the faint sound of music while she unpacks and assembles the portable hot tub and tiki bar. Good! Maybe I'm not too late after all! *fills the tub*  ;D

Hello Banders! I am Lorei, Elder Builder of Stedding Lantoine! I am on a walking tour of DM.  Some of my fellow Ogier are traveling with me. Won't you join us as we rest from our travels? :)

*sets out ale, glasses, tabac, pipes, and firesticks*

Tell us, what do you like most about your Org?

Hello, Ogier friends!  Let us drink and be merry!  ;D  I love the comraderie of the band.  The infantry feels like home and I feel just as welcome in Cavalry and Archers.  We all try to go out of our way to make new members feel welcome and old members feel like they belong.  The raw recruit program not only helps you learn alot about the band but it's alot of fun too.  *offers up one of the many drink specialities the band provides*

*bellies up to the bar for a CC and a pipe)

I like the Band because of the people.  I've reached the highest rank, held five or nine staff positions, done a stint as XO of the Band, invented one of the official Band Drinks, helped develop the Band's Blademaster program, helped get the Raw Recruit program going.  Basically, I've been there and done that when it comes to the Band of the Red Hand Org.  So you may be asking, 'Deathdealer, why is it that you are still here?'  The answer to that is, the people.  Many of the people I knew when I joined have moved on, folks I miss, but there are just as many folks that are my very great friends; my other family, if you will.  I stay because of the people I know.  I've been around the world while in the military, met many people that became wonderful friends, some of the absolute best people there ever could be, but you move or they move.  It is hard to find good friends that last more than a couple of years.  In the Band, I've found friends I can talk to, joke with, get to know.  This is why I like the Band.

*thinks about that while he puffs away on his pipe and takes a drink of CC*

Or maybe it is just the Brew!  ;)

Nae! *hugs* Hi! Been missing you over at the new Stedding.  *winks at el Nyn* You're here too?  ;D Hi Felicur!

I think I will try one of those CC.

I've been around the world while in the military, met many people that became wonderful friends, some of the absolute best people there ever could be, but you move or they move.  It is hard to find good friends that last more than a couple of years.

I'm retired AF, and I feel what you mean there. *nods*  And with all that moving around, you come to get used to it. I've been here now the longest time I've lived anywhere in my adult life. I'm getting itchy feet. I told Hubby the other day that we needed a road trip or a new house. So we're remodeling the house. Maybe that'll be enough.  :D  *sips her CC* That's pretty smooth!  ;) Who invented the CC?  :)

And I wanted to also ask, can people join the Band even if they don't know much about bands and music?

Loreina,

Yes, I got out a couple years ago, and my wife and I, after three years in one home realized we were ready to move.  Not that we wanted to, just that we felt we were supposed to move.  Our third kid was born and the house grew too small, so we did move, for the last time... ever.  In the last ten years, I've moved an average of twice per year

*nods* I know. The AF is not that bad about moving often, but the other branches! Whew!

Nae, I love almost every kind of music. But lately I've had trouble remembering the titles and the artists.  Ahhh the joys of old age!  :D

My son played one for me the other day that just blew my mind. It was "No Handlebars". Gave me goosebumps. Almost had a flashback to the 60's.  ;)

Absolutely!!  *looks around for the M-G and whispers to Loreina*  I'm the 3rd in Command of the Band and I have absolutely no music/band knowledge.  I probably shouldn't say that out loud though.  ;)

I would love some Ogier ale!  Thanks!!  :D

*pokes Moose*  ;)

I totally agree with his Pinkness.  The people are what make this Org so great.  I have a lot of people I consider friends and a few that are family.  Heck, I met my fiance here.  LOL  Seriously though, the Band is made up of a great bunch of people who would be there for any member in an instant.  It's that kind of camraderie that makes it a place I want to go everyday.  ;D

Hi Ogier  :D *split personality issue*  :o

Ok ok I'll be a Bander for this one lol  ;)

*helps self to some Sunkist Ale*

Lorei, we have a lot of members who aren't into the music side so much.  :) Luckily there's lots of things to do in the Org so never any need to be stuck.  :D It's definitely about the people for me too *nods agreement with Pinky and her sis*

;) 'sOK!

*ponders*

I guess I'd also have to say the people, because it's the atmosphere, the feeling, they create. We don't necessarily have to do anything, we can just hang out and chat about stuff. There's always something that will interest you, because we are so diverse. It really does have the feel of a Stedding. It's sort of like floating in a salt-water pool; it's really hard to sink.  ;D  If you have a very busy real life, it's nice to know there's a place to go where you can get away from it all for a little while (*lol* Yes, like "Cheers"!). Before I became a Sitter, I think I spent more time at the Stedding than at the WT. And will do so again, most likely, when I step down this month. I've enjoyed being a Sitter and will probably run again sometime, but I have the heart of an Ogier, lol. I carry books around with me, just like Loial.  :D

Sounds great Loreina!  LOL, I used to carry books with me everywhere too.  I LOVE to read.  Maybe we're part Ogier somewhere back in the gene pool.  :D

Ok, another question for you Ogiers.  How many different kinds of Ale do you have?

*hands Loreina and Moose some Raspberry Bandy*
