Sorry, Jehaine, I can't.

What comes of being a busybody and having my nose in too many threads ;)  I can't remember which thread what got said in.

Now, if everybody would refrain from ever getting slightly off topic ( something, pure virtuous me would never do of course ;D :D ) it'd all be so much easier.

You're right, though.  The description of the event reads exactly like balefire.

shadar haran was a guess (and a bad one lol) but i am positive asmo didnt kill himself. Because he was obviously surprised and the person who surprised him WOULD have sheilded him... and yes we will assume its a man or woman who can channel or asmo would have defended himself.. lets all look back to when moheigden(typo) disceplined liandrin. lindrian tried to surprise the forsaken but failed... horribly. And liandrin wasnt all to weak either. Then we look to asmo... who is weak as a kitten, gets surprised by a.. chosen for aurgumentative purposes.. and this chosen who attacks him, who surprised him, would have shiedled him. so asmo got killed..... by someone...

i saw this so dont jump all over me but its what i saw...

  at wotmania.com they say grendal killed asmo... thats what they have posted there and they seem to think that there right.

so y didnt grendal kill asmo? or what proof that she didnt kill him is there... or what proof or hints that she did?

There are ( last time I looked ) 139 pages of wrangling about who killed Asmo in the Structured Discussions forum.  You can read all about the arguments both for and against Graendal there.

And, that is just the latest of three, IIRC, such length threads on the subject that have appeared on this site.

Truthfully, Asmo's death has become a subject that is useless to take up.  Everybody has their candidate, and there is so little actual info about the death that all of those suspects have to be taken on faith to some extent.  So, it has become more a religious debate than a murder investigation.

And, like all religious debates it will never end because ( until AMoL comes out ) nothing can be proven from the information currently on-hand.

Ah, thanks for the link Ealdur.

So, we're going for pure saidin then? Personally, i still say it'd be balefire. Not enough to undo the Strike of course (the balefire that killed Rahvin was pretty large, and it only took him back a week or so at most) but enough so that the people in the palace would be resurrected.

But then again, i suppose it's going to end up as a i-say-you-say discussion that refuses to end unless it's literally in the Books, so i'll just drop the subject ^^;

Asmodean did tell Rand that he would rather die than be taken alive by the Forsaken, and the passage that describes Asmodean's death could be interpreted more than one way: "One step, and he stopped, the blood draining from his face. 'You? No!' The word still hung in the air when death took him."

Nothing in that passage says explicitly that whoever he encountered was the one who killed him; he could have committed suicide rather than let that person take him alive...

...if it weren't for Lanfear's shield preventing him from drawing enough saidin to do so...
