A WHEEL OF TIME COMMUNITY

Welcome, snin83, to the happiest place on earth!

Recommended Posts

No, it's not disneyland... WELCOME TO THE BAND!! I'm Horn. *shakes hand* I'm just a simple member of the Cavalry here in the Band, bidding you welcome to what is by leaps and bounds my favorite org in DM! Marshal-General Corki (our illustrious leader) should be along soon to give you the Official Spiel, but don't worry... it looks like a good bit of information at first, but it isn't that bad. For your first little bit, available help for you is here in an abundance! You might also get a PM or two in your inbox from one or two other of the Band Higher-Ups, so keep an eye out for them!

Again, welcome!

Welcome to the Band!

So as to not allow the Cavalry a monopoly on ya, im showing up as an Infantry representative. Quite honestly, congratulations, you've just chosen the best Org in Dragonmount! Anyways, I expect ill see you in the Barracks, probably pretty soon after Corki does his spiel. Its very good...

Welcome to the Band snin83, interesting name you have there. ;D You'll have to let us know what it means.

I'm Talya and one of the Infantry RLo's, which menas I and my colleague Arrandion will be looking after you when you come to the Infantry for your RR week. We will make sure you have a good time, and in the mean time have a brew or 6 and sit quietly for the Boss's speech,

Have fun... :D

Hey!! Thanks for welcoming me. My name is Brian and I am a graduate student at Ohio State in Columbus. I am studying Civil Engineering with a focus in Geotechnical Engineering (dealing with soil). I used to play bass guitar in a couple of bands but have since then focused on finishing my grad program. I have music posted on myspace if anyone is interested in hearing it. One band is more rock and the other band is more blues-rock. I have been an avid reader of the WoT novels for several years and cant wait until the last book is published. I am also looking forward to being involved in the Band. But I must admit that I am a little confused on what I am supposed to be doing right now. Any help is appreciated. Thanks! Looking forward to getting to know all of you.

Do not fear about being confused! First thing to do is follow that proboard link I gave you. Once you sign up there, things will click into place. But if you still have questions, just ask them and we will help you out. :) And it sounds like you'll get on well with my girlfriend, North Star, who is studying Geology. I'm sure she looks at the ground at some stage! lol!

Now, are you ready to be hit by the Official Spiel?

*official spiel*

Welcome snin83! An email explaining important information about the Band is currently sitting in your inbox! Take a read! Also check your PMs too! ;)

Basically, the Band of the Red Hand is the Travel and Music ORG at DM! By signing up for the Band, you have joined the successful Raw Recruit Scheme. By signing up for the off board site, you will be able to experience the whole process to the maximum! The Executive Officer, BridMorgan will assign you to one of the three Regiments (Archers, Cavalry, Infantry) for a week, where you will be given various tasks to perform, hoping that you will get a picture of what time in each Regiment is like. After a week with each Regiment, you will be asked to pick your final choice of a Regiment.

While being a Raw Recruit, there is nothing stopping you from earning points like any other Band member. Points lead to promotion within the Band. Below is a list of possible ways to earn points:

- writing reviews on places to visit/holidays you have been on

- writing reviews on music albums and gigs

- replying to other people's reviews and asking questions

- composing Jak O' the Shadow verses

- getting articles published in our monthly newspaper, The Hornsounder

- posting in the monthly roll call in the Band's private boards here at DM

- any DM project we may have, which includes our Quote Project (speak to Amavia and Angyl)

- and much much more I cannot think of right now!

If you complete your time as a Raw Recruit within 3 to 4 weeks, you will get a special award (called the Raw Recruit Stripe) which you can add to your siggy as well!

While being a Raw Recruit, you get 3 free strikes. This enables you to break Band Law 3 times without being punished by the Redarms, the Band's very own police force. If they see any Law breaking, they will either drag you up for a trial or give you a fun spot fine to do (usually 100 lines of something witty). Channeling is a major no-no in the Band. As is spilling Battle Brew, our beloved drink! Once you have used up your 3 strikes, or join the Band's ranks officially, you will face the full force of Band Law like any other Bander does!

Of course, we are not all about working 24/7, as we do let our hair down now and then! We are famous for our bar brawls, which happen frequently!Keep an eye out for one! We also like jokes, tales, funny pictures - things that will make us laugh!

We also have many games - at DM, which can be found in the stickies, or the Lottery set up in our Dicing with Jak O' the Shadows board, which you will see once you have signed up for the private boards here at DM. There are also several games on the off board site as well! Also, take the lessons to learn our ORG Game, based on the luck of dice! You get the selected weapons of your Regiment, and can fight anyone in the Band! We'll give you a practise fight so you can get your bearing until you are ready to challenge a Bander. Also look out for our festivals of various games using the dice roller and ORG Game. There are many staff members for the Game who will be willing to help you out.

Once you have been added to the list for the private boards here, you will also be able to participate in our lottery game, which takes place in the Dicing With Jak O' the Shadows board. It is a lot of fun, and your winnings can buy you various goodies!

If you have a Facebook account, search for the group 'DM Band of the Red Hand'. Click to apply. Then PM/email Tay, Brid or I to say you've requested to join, and we'll accept it. I'm using Facebook as another way to communicate with Banders!

If I have left anything out (which I expect I have!), do not hesitate to ask questions! Someone will be able to answer them for you!

One last thing...

*hand snin83 a Marshal-General's Special Battle Brew*

Welcome to the Band snin.. great choice. I'm Tay, the Under-Commander (UC) (Corki's 2iC in other words). Great to have you here with us.  :D Our Executive Officer (XO), Lady Bridmorgan, is on holiday at the moment but should be back by Sunday. Meantime, I've sent you a PM that contains some important information on her behalf. Look forward to seeing you at the off sites.

Now, Welcome snin83.  I am Samurai, RLO of the Archers, and I look forward to your time spent training with the Archers.  Don't worry about the time you spend with the Cavalry...that smell washes off.  So does the smell you'll pick up at the Infantry.  Not sure which one is worse....lol.

Either way have fun and get to know everyone.

Don't listen to him!!! The Infantry Latrines (which Infantry Privates are inevitibly pushed into at some point... almost a rite of passage!) smell much worse than the rustic stables which house our mighty steeds!

Besides, I stole a large stash of MG Brew from Corki a while back, and over a couple years have picked up a collection of a large percentage of the Band's brews... and sometimes I do enjoy sharing with fellow Riders of the Storm (Cavalry Members). :)

Take absolutely no notice of what they say about us Infants, we'll treat you right, and we don't smell, have a lovely hot tub for you to enjoy after a hard day working as an RR.

*slaps Snin hard on the back and gives him some guinnys*...enjoy that me lad.

As for Tharen...he's just misunderstood. *nods* :D...especially if you think him sweet and innocent...me on the other hand *polishes Halo* ;)

I was watching Footman dig latrines while DM wasn't even a glimmer in your imagination... I know full well the truth about the infamous Infantry Latrines! It isn't for no reason that Mystica's spot fine is making her follow recruits into a latrine TEN times, for really harsh punishment!!!

Well the only reason we've got Latrines is to put all those Archers/Cavvies who can't hold their drink when we kick em out of the Tavern.

and regarding copyright drinks, i have no issue with people drinking Guinfantry. I just think proper credit should be given to the person who created said drink...

Oh wait, thats me isnt it  :P

Now now children play nicely  :D the latrines are usually in the process of being dug... and are therefore UNUSED... so they don't smell at all. Tsk.  ::) Talk about spreading false propoganda.

That's not true tay.... as soon as ya'll start digging the cavalry sneak over in the middle of the night and fill the bottom of how deep they've dug with horse manure... how do you think we get rid of it ;)
