LTT and Rand's Head

Ok this is my first theory post so please be gentle. I'll quote a few of the items I will reference for my theory.

From the prologue of TEotW

"Tossing back his black cloak, Elan Morin flexed his hands. "A pity for you" he mused, "that one of your Sisters is not here. I was never very skilled at Healing, and I follow a different power now. But even one of them could only give you a few lucid minutes, if you did not destroy her first. What I can do will serve as well for my purposes." His sudden smile was cruel. "But I fear Shai'tan's healing is different from the sort you know. Be healed, Lews Therim!" He extended his hands, and the light dimmed as if a shadow had been laid across the sun.

Pain blazed in Lews Therin, and he screamed, a scream that came from his depths, a scream he could not stop. Fire seared his marrow; acid rushed along his veins. He toppled backwards, crashing to the marble floor; his head struck the stone and rebounded. His heart pounded, trying to beat its way out of his chest, and every pulse gushed new flame through him. Helplessly he convulsed, thrashing, his skull a sphere of purest agony on the point of bursting. His hoarse screams reverberated through the palace.

Now from right after LTT drew too much of the OP and created Dragonmount.

On the island, the air shimmered and coalesced. The black clad man stood staring at the fiery mountain rising out of the plain. His face twisted in rage and contempt. "You cannot escape so easily, Dragon. It is not done between us. it will not be done until the end of time."

Now from TDR, after Be'lal has been balefired by Moraine.

Slowly the shadow descended, resolving into Ba'alzamon, clothed in dead black, like a Myrddraal's black. Yet even that was not so dark as the shadow that clung to him. He hung in the air, two spans above the floor, glaring at Rand with a rage as fierce as his eyes. "Twice in this life I have offered you the chance to serve me living." Flames leaped from his mouth as he spoke, and every work roared like a furnace. "Twice you have refused, and wounded me. Now you will serve the Lord of the Grave in death. Die, Lew Therin Kinslayer. Die, Rand al'Thor. It is time for you to die! I take your soul!"

Ba'alzamon's blow struck him as he leapt, struck inside him, a rippling and crumpling, tearing something loose, trying to pull a part of him away. Rand screamed. He felt as if he were collapsing like an empty sack, as if he were being turned inside out. The pain in his side, the wound taken at Falme, was almost welcome, something to hang onto, a reminder of life. His hand closed convulsively. On Callandor's hilt.

So now the theory. First off, Ishy was out of the seal on the bore while LTT lived (at least for the prologue, don't know how much he was around after that). He has that weird 40 year thingy. He must have already have been trying to scheme to make the Dragon a much easier opponent in the third age (since the bore was sealed and they really could not win the War of Power with the DO locked away til the seals break). I will not say that this was exactly planned but I think it was a back up plan. Maybe to help turn the Dragon of the third age. Also without Ishy, maybe he wouldn't have the name Kinslayer. I think that was planned also, to help make people afraid of the Dragon, unlike how they were in the AoL. Notice how healing is not capitaliZed when Ishy talks about Shai'tan's healing. I think that he never really healed LTT. Maybe all he did was take the taint out of him. All the current AS think that the taint (insanity and flesh rotting away) cannot be healed. Maybe it can only be healed by the TP not the OP. Healed is not the right word here, but it works the best for what I want described. So anyway, maybe Ishy somehow captured LTT's insanity. I think that he did, then in TDR scene I think that he released that insanity into Rand al'Thor. That is when Rand starts to notice LTT's voice. Well not right away, but after that encounter. I'm not saying that he wouldnt have still had some of LTT's memories, because obviously he would still have those. In the scene prior to TDR scene he thinks he recognizes Be'lal. This could be explained by the fact that he has been dreaming of the Wonder girls being trapped by him in Tear. He also seems to know instinctualy how to channel some things. But I don't think that he would have a mad man trying to channel in his head. Notice how LTT was sane when he dies. This also seems to fit into my theory. If he was sane when he died then how is he insane in Rand's head. You would think that in death, that the taint would stop making LTT insane. As only channeling the tainted OP is what makes you go insane. Now I know that some people think that Ishy's healing was only temporary, I'm not saying that it is or isn't. I'm just saying here is a different way of looking at the LTT personality in Rand's head. Let me know what you guys all think, It is something that I have thought of since my second read through the series.

Maybe someone can clear this point up for me as I am confused. After ishy "Healed" Ltt Lews made a comment about the shadow ravgeing the world for 10 years. I was under the impression the was of power lasted alot longer than that. From Rands trip down Aiel memory lane I was given to believe it lasted at least 3 generations up to the point where LTT died. and given the life spans as described in the same bit of The shadow rising, I was given to believe a life span was around 200 years at least, though that may only have been for the Aiel it wasn't clear. So which is correct the 10 years or the 3 generations?

You have to consider the fact that the Dark One was, as far as we know, completely unknown until after the Bore was created. It would take many years for the Dark One to subvert enough people to make a grab for freedom that could reasonably succeed. I believe that it was years after the Bore was made that people began to learn of the Dark One, and that he had been slowly subverting people during those years without him being known.

Also, I think they would not at first see him as an enemy, unless he did something to make it clear that he was. From the things that have been said, before the Bore was created their were no wars or battles, and the game, 'Sticks' or 'Swords', Be'lal called it, were only used to kill after the Bore was opened. I believe that the Dark One spent decades slowly enhancing humanities viciousness and bloodlust. For example, Aran'gar and Osan'gar's names they got from the name of the blades in a duel popular at some point after the Bore was opened, and both blades were coated in poison that would kill from a scratch. That is incredibly vicious, and I see it as a good example of the Dark One's affect on humanity.

This is all what my intuition tells me, though. These are conclusions I have gotten from the bits and pieces I've read throughout the series that mentions the Age of Legends that I have extrapolated on. But I like the image it conveys on the War of Power and the Age of Legends.

jep true. after lanfear opened the DO's prison there was the time called the collapse, it lasted 100 years or something like that. that was when the trollocs where made and the DF's came , also the forsaken. what followed then was the War of Power and that lasted 10 years. I take it that 100 years were also in that time 3 generations, I'm not sure because even normal people lived twice as long as they do in the third age.

To Cari an Imsoen I was under the impression that he was sane, but he killed himself bc of all the strife he had caused by killing his whole family. I can see how it could be taken either way. I'm not saying im right or not, just a theory I had about the voice. I had to take that POV to make my theory work though. I hope that it gets answered in AMoL. Along with Asmodean's killer. I just know it was Bela! :P

Have you read the True Power/ One Power theory for sealing the Bore??

You should because it has some interesting theories about sealing the bore.  I know, I know... getting off track.  Anyway, my favorite theory is that since DO has a TP, why cant the Creator?

I think that since singing is mentioned so much in the books (Ogier singing to the trees, saidin humming to Rand when he reaches for it, Aiel singing in the AoL and lots more examples)

So maybe LTT and Rand's madnesses can be healed by the Creator's TP?

The creators 'TP' is the OP. Same concept.

Yes, that's what I think. The only reason the Drak One's TP is special is because he witholds it from everyone except those he has chosen, making it much more potent. Oh, sure, other channelers can't see it, but that's only natural since they're intune to the OP. The reason the OP isn't so potent is because it's been divided so that it can turn the Wheel, and it's used by so many more people.

well, you should still read the post on how Rand will seal the Bore.  It's really interesting.  also, I still think that the singing theory is right.  Cuz Saidar vs. Saidin: DO's TP vs. Creator's TP.

Just look for that post and read it... it's called How will Rand Seal the  Bore?

Seriously, read it. >:(

Well, see the problem with the 'creators tp' is the DO gives out the 'TP' only to those he allows, he plays favorites.

The creator doesnt have any favorites, he doesn't even 'care' whats going on. Infact, he gives his 'power' or TP, or rather the OP to anyone and everyone, indiscriminantly. Hence why the forsaken, who are working for the DO, are using the Creators OP, against the creator.

I also shouldn't have to remind you, but the OP is addicting, very much so. If you draw to deeply, you die. One of the main reasons for drawing to deep is the addiction.

Same goes for the TP. The only thing is, the people who have access to the TP, also happen to be some of the strongest channelers, who ever existed. So the addiction, so to speak isn't nearly as 'transparent'. Add to that, is the fact that the DO allows those who use the TP to use only as much as he wants, meaning they can use a 20x that they can channel of the OP, or a fraction of a sliver of it. But the more they use, the more 'taint' they get, which is basically what the Saa is.

IF anything, the only way 'rand' will have any 'access' to a special 'power' would be via a Well, like in the Eye of the World. + the other fun tools he uses.

Btw, theoretically, rand doesn't even need to be near the bore to seal it. ;)

Had a theory on this a couple of years ago- that LTT sealed his soul in Dragonmount and had the analog of a sensory deprivation tank for millenia, driving him insane (after all, insanity exists independently of the Taint), and that he was "inactive" until Rand was channelling- effectively catatonic.

EDIT: A second idea I've tossed around is that it's not that the Dark One is trapped in the Pattern and the Creator has moved on, but that the Creator has dissipated his "self" throughout the Pattern so it can exist, and the Dark One wants to "tear" the Pattern so he can get back to grips with his opposite- a Manichean tension between them.

The Creator's TP, which I think is the singing, is only with a few people also, like select Ogier and when, in the AoL, the people (Aiel I think) sang for the growing of plants.  These people, and Ogier, LOVE to sing and you could say that they are addicted to it in a way.

The DO only hands his TP to select people also.

The OP, Saidin and Saidar, are addicting but I don't think that they necessarily "belong" to any one side. The Forsaken use the OP as much as Rand and the AS do.

Also, one other theory that I found and like, is that when the Creator created that universe (since there are many), the DO came and is trying to take it over.  I think that the Creator put a bubble around the Universe so that the DO could not get in but in doing that, the Creator can no longer help the people of Randland.  The only reason the DO can "touch" events in Randland is because Mierin bored a hole in the bubble.

Also, no Rand doesn't need to be near the Bore but in the prophecies, the Dragon's blood will be spilt on the rocks of Shayol Ghul, which we know is the place closest to the Bore.

These are just my ideas and theories so please don't eat me :(
