Too soon for a WoT reboot anyway.  Let's play around with other stuff for a while.  If other fantasy is successful, it could pave the way for a Randland comeback. 🤷‍♂️

Now HBO is going to make a Baldur Gate series, maybe we will see if video games make better series, then a book does.  But if these bomb people are saying it could scare off any major studio from pursuing fantasy series in the future.

You forget series like GOT, Seven kingdoms were planned to be TV series. WOT wasn't.   It's easier to stick to the story/stay true to the books when the author already planned for them to go to TV.  I'm sure RJ would've done somethings differently if he planned to make them a TV series also.

I have heard it said that GRRM wrote his books more like a screenplay or at least as if he planned to adapt it to such.  The creators of the Expanse did something similar which makes sense since they worked under GRRM before publishing the series.  But even with that taken into account a BUNCH of stuff in the Expanse was changed for TV.

Wot and The Expanse are my top 2 book series and the their respective shows are in my top 5.

Whether or not RJ wrote it like a screenplay or not does not change the fact Rafe sidelined Rand, totally changed the magic system, destroyed the Dragon plotline, and maligning characters for no reason.

Change the names of the character and places and the TV series would never be mistook by book readers as the same story.

Sad to hear its definitely over. I really enjoyed the 3rd season, it captured the energy of the book I had in mind while reading it; the weaves were very similar to what I imagined, they even made them distinct to each person in S3. That being said, I had to look at it as another spinning of the wheel to get past some alterations. Much like in Hunger Games they changed or cut characters completely.

At least there is some new fun fantasy coming our way. 😕

The comics have been really nice to see, I agree that an animated show is a good idea. Maybe in 5-10 years it will be picked up in some form, studios cycle through stories fast these days.

We can but hope...

I would like to see another attempt but accept that bringing it off satisfactorily ( I really didn't think this version did it justice : too many changes and many not for the better ; seemed a little "dumbed down" in places) is going to be a really tough task. The size and scope of the story , need for actors to commit to long contracts , cost ! are all going to be issues.  But who knows  ? GOT ran eight seasons even if rushed and spoiled at the end ; so something similar just might be possible...

In time.

Okay so funny enough, this article just dropped. Seems like an animated series may be in the works.

I hope an animated series can be created but this paragraph kinda says it all.

"The upcoming animated films and series are meant to be separate entities from other projects that have already been announced, such as the White Tower 3D prequel film and the live-action Age of Legends trilogy, assuming these even get made."

Red Eagle is throwing everything at the wall hoping something will stick.  I do not have the much faith if they are heavily involved.

There is no way this can be true "Positive reviews for the Wheel of Time continued for seasons 2 and 3, with the latter reaching a nearly perfect score of 97%."

iwot productions has a horrible history with making things happen, when you read about the video game they want to do. there is no way it can be done in the time frame they are claiming.  I would be skeptical of anything they have their hands in.

Small number of critic reviews but it is true.  Specifically for season 3.
