I could have sworn that role was a pass around role originally though which has very different implications than this.

Here's the role from the sign up thread.

15.  Hot Potato – At night, the Hot Potato may not use any role given to them. Each night, the Hot Potato must choose another player and pass the role along. No previous information is passed along to the new user.

so it did change.  Its basically are role blocker right?  so...that is scum lean.
