What if this whole Harry Potter Incident happened with A Memory of Light. DO you think you would download it, or would you be paitient and wait 5 days and read it as a hard copy. I think i would wait, i mean seriously if you can wait a few years, then why not a few days extra.

Sry if this is the wrong place to post this.

I would wait.  And not because reading from a screen is uncomfortable.  Jordan has worked on this for decades, and in the case of this last book, worked on it through a life threatening illness.

The entertainment he produces is more than worth the price of the book, and I'm not interested in stealing from him that which he has earned.

I was a bad boy with Potter, so I've already read it. And from that experience I can definitly say I would wait. The last book of WOT is far too important to miss out on the pleasure of holding the actual book in your hands.

But of course, even if I was  unable to wsait, I would buy the book anyway, so in terms of the number of sold books that would make no difference. After all, how messed up wouldn't it look to have all books ncely lined up, except for the last...

i read the bootleg copy. about 20 pages into it i realised it was a fraud. i had already prepaid for the hardcover coming out on the 21st and was relieved to find out that the bootleg was totally wrong.

i waited with the hundreds of other geeks to get my copy. we had cupcakes, punch, posters, wristbands and strange conversations for hours. not that much different than this website. a great time was had by all and i wouldnt change a thing, even reading the bootleg i am not ashamed to admit (a friend sent it to me and the temptation was too much).

I read the online version, but only because i had to work on the saturday and sunday of the release; and a good thing i did, too, because some snot nosed little brat read the last page and called out what happened.

I wouldn't do that with WoT, irrespective. WoT's a much better series, and therefore more worthy of respect.

As much as I wanted to read the final Harry Potter book, I gladly waited until it was officially released.  I would do the same with the final book of The Wheel of Time.  I also hope that major Wheel of Time sights like Dragonmount, as the release of A Memory of Light nears, do like the major Harry Potter sights and carefully screen posts to prevent anyone from posting spoilers.

iwouldnt read the leak if there is one of the book caused, if its the whole thing, reading 2000 pages online is much harder than waiting for the bookto come out, ecspeacialy if it leaks like HP7, and happens like a week or two before.

i serioulsy doubt that if they'res a leak, that it will actually be a real deal and have true info on the book, cause i read a leakof HP7 after i finished the book (on the firstday ;))  and it was totally wrong. :-\

this is interesting. here is the scenerio: someone leaves a bootleg copy of the last book in a series you have been reading for years on your coffee table (which is essentially what recieving something like that online is) and you are saying you wouldnt take a peek? just throw it in the trash can and call it good? you people are not human.......

But when I eat over the bootleg copy whilst too hooked to the story to stop for mere meals, I can brush off the crumps and leave it in the sun for the coffee stains to dry up. Its less likely to catch fire and singe off my eyebrows... :D

Hmm the only book I have downloaded concerning WoT that I don't have in posession is actually the RPG book o.0 Which, I don't know if that counts or not.... thouh I only don't have the real book because I left it two states away in a friend's house *grumbles*

I have all the books in mint condition and on .pdf format. Having them on the comp makes it so much nicer when needing to look up information and you can't remember where it was.

However, I'd definitely wait until this is out in hardcover. It's not all that joyous reading a whole book on a computer. I did that with HP book 5 and totally forgot everything I read, except of course whatshisname dying. I think now with book 7 out, I'll actually go out and by books 5 and 6 and then 7 to catch up with the other half of the world's population. ^_^

Trust me, I really think reading a book on a comp also doesn't allow your mind to process it as good. When I got book 10 I opened it up, sat down, and didn't move for I don't know how many hours, and I remembered everything just fine. Coincidently I did the same thing with 11 and forgot a lot of things but hey, my mind is fickle :P

Peeps who download books without owning them are simply missing out on the joy of actually sitting wherever and smelling that fresh book smell. mmmmmmmm a fresh new book.... *drools*
