It means that some small detail has to happen, or not happen, or whatever for the curse to be avoided. Nothing big like bonestone, just some minor thing that you can probably find in the storyline.

Well, it says "when one assassin falls, another will rise"

It doesn't say when one assassin "dies" or "is lynched" - just falls.

Heres the important parts i think of roberts posts since griefy died. I also included kivam's prophesy post because it's relevant to the point I'll be making, give me some time to type this all up, it will be in a separate post

Barm steps forward. “Griefy, you are the Godfather, aren’t you?” She smiles. “Whatever Barm. I have done the best that I could with what I was given. I’ll tell you this much,” she points to the Admiral, “He’s crazy.”

THE OTHER PLAYERS ARE WELCOME TO ENCOURAGE THE FIGHTERS. THE FIGHT WILL BE TO THE DEATH, AND THE WINNER WILL TAKE ACTION THAT INFLUENCES THE OUTCOME OF THE GAME BUT WILL NOT DETERMINE THE FINAL OUTCOME. THE FIRST CHOICE OF MOVES WILL BE POSTED SOON.*

The Minster clenches his jaw and says in a very low voice, "Barmacral, this will all come down to you. Gods be with you...”

Danya says, in a very measured voice. “Somebody used the black bonestone.”

Barm answers “Yes…but what is important right now is to escape.

“Like hell”, the Admiral, still on his hands and knees, whips out his blade and spears the back of the Minister’s leg.

*THE BLACK BONESTONE HAS BEEN FOUND AND USED. THE MINISTER AND THE ADMIRAL WILL DUEL. THE HALL WILL SOON FALL TO THE NEITARENS*

The Minister draws his own Sinta blade

Then five witches enter the room. The senior witch holds up a piece of bonestone and hums, though nothing visible happens.

“There are three pieces of bonestone in this room. One is held by the Seer.” She nods towards Danya. “The other two are pieces stolen from the cave.”  The Blackstone has been used, and as you all know, that means that what was, is no longer.” She closes her fist around the stone in her hand, and a red glow comes from Danya’s pocket. The witch smiles. “One of you is an assassin now.

“Ah! There is a way around it, but you must be clever to discover it!” She stands, lifting the piece in her hand high, and hums once more. A white glow comes from Barm’s pocket, a gold glow from Kivam’s.  She lowers her hand and opens her fingers. Three pieces of stone fill her palm. “I have taken the pieces stolen from the caves. It is my price. Be resourceful and survive. Panic, and it will be your last mistake.”

THE HEALER AND SEER ROLES ARE THE SAME. THEIR FUNCTION IS THE SAME. IF YOU FIGURE OUT HOW TO GET PAST THE CURSE OF THE BLACK BONESTONE, THEN YOU ARE FACING ONE ASSASSIN.*

Minister and Admiral; I believe you have a duel.

To begin, you must each choose which weapon to fight with. You may only pick one. Post your choice on the thread.

1.) Sinta Blade

2.) Trident

3.) Throwing Blade

from The Book of Suras

Prophecy: At times, a singer will catch a glimpse of the future and have enough information to be able to form a prophecy. In rare cases, strong singers, such as the Sisterhood of Sel Arren can view detailed future events such as a famous duel between a Minister and a rogue Admiral. [glow=red,2,300]The witch who fortell this was able to influence events by letting a third party know that if the duel continued past the first blow, both parties would die and the Hall and its supportes would be lost forever.[/glow]

The third party then made it a point to stop the duel, although it is not recorded exactly how or what events followed.

I think that is interesting. It can be interpreted two ways. Either she is talking to the entire group, or she is speaking directly to the two who had bonestone in their pockets. No where is it specified. Just a thought.

SamVines... I think I might have missed something here... where did you get the idea that there would be 3 assassins in the curse? I thought it just continued working until we hit that technical detail. Whether thats 1 assassin or 5.

First off, griefy before her death blames the admiral for her death.

Then Roberts tells us we can encourage the fighters, and that IT WILL BE TO THE DEATH. He also says that the winner will be able to influence the outcome of the game.

The minister is clearly depending upon barm, who he finds to be an important part of this. And even with the enemy upon us the admiral, rather then let us all escape, uses a spear to stab the minister in the leg!

Roberts then remarks that the hall will soon fall to these invaders! We need to get out but the minister and the admiral seem to *HAVE* to fight first!

In the next post the witches show up and a bonestone glows red in danya’s pocket and the witch comments that one of us is an assassin now. Lower in the post Roberts says that the healer and finder are going to keep their roles though. So they can’t be evil.

The witch also mentions the way around the curse of the black bonestone. She also takes the 2 pieces of bonestone kivam and barm had on themselves.

Roberts then posts that the admiral and minister have to choose weapons, we know in the story line that the minister used a sinta blade with much skill and power. While the admiral choose either a spear or a throwing blade from the description.

And finally kivam’s prophesy post!

[glow=red,2,300]“The witch who fortell this was able to influence events by letting a third party know that if the duel continued past the first blow, both parties would die”

[/glow]

We are the third party, The admiral has already administered the “first blow”. If they fight at all from here on out we will all die.

But isn’t there a way around this you guys?

we know:

1) That an invading army will soon be upon us

2) That no one can leave until either the minister or admiral is dead

3) the winner of those 2 will influence (but not determine) the final outcome of the game

4) That it is very important that we escape

5) The minister and admiral are choosing weapons at the moment

6) If they fight at all we all die (everyone)

7) Apparently we made it a point to stop this duel!

So why don't we! I say guys that tomorrow we lynch the admiral, thus ending the fight (by death) without the minister/admiral fighting each other, the minister can "influence" the game by preventing the rest of the curse from happening, we get to leave before we are all killed by the invading army.

hows it sound? Lynch the admiral and we solve our predicament!

Actually, that makes some sense. One them has to die, but if they fight each other, we all die. It says nothing about us deciding to lynch one. I don't know that this will also take care of the black bonestone issue though...

Posted

I like the plan, and submit the Admiral as our candidate for lynching. Why? Because as guide, one side job was to help the Minister stay alive. I'm sticking with that job.

Posted

why the admiral why not the minister, if the admaril was evil before then he wont be now and infact becuase of this i would say the admiral is less likly to be the assasin (yes i know it not statisticaally, but thinking about it instinctivly) that the minister is more likely to be the a ssasin, as chance has a sence of humor like that. you know what i mean.

Posted

2 things:

1) The admiral because he's the one who a) told the invading army that we wouldn't have any soldiers. b) Stabbed the minister in the leg and forced him to fight here instead of allowing us to all flee as we should. c) is a power hungry corrupt jerk who originally planned this whole thing.

And yes, i realize the admiral is probably innocent. But on of them has to die and the survivor will help us I think with this curse.

2) I think Loki is the current assassin =/. keep your eye on the ball though guys and lets get the admiral first. This way a 2nd doesn't show up after we kill loki.

Kivam is dead. He was found face down on the floor, head twisted to one side and a stab thrust through the back, into the heart. He was obviously taken from behind, and because there were no signs of a struggle, you know it had to have been by somebody he knew.  Even the Minister and the Admiral were sobered by this loss. Barm kept organizing things for the trip, but it seemed like he had been counting on Kivam’s help with things more than a little, and it made you nervous to see how badly this death had affected the group.

The smoke from the torch is stinging your eyes. You blink, trying to clear them, but it does little good. The tunnel is narrow here, as it has been for the last several hundred feet or so, with only enough room for one man at a time to pass. Should the Neitaren’s attempt to follow the group, they will meet their deaths here. And judging from the racket behind you, that is exactly what is going to happen. You are far too deep inside the mountain now to hear the cannon shots being fired. The noise you hear is the sound of hundreds of heavily armed soldiers in pursuit of you. The cavern suddenly opens into a domed weapons storage room. You turn around and see tunnels leading back the way you came, on either side of the tunnel you came through. These are the killing tunnels. As you made your way through the long tunnel into this cavern, you were shown where holes in the wall had been patched over. They would have been barely noticeable if you had not been told about them. Once the enemy makes it past a certain point in that tunnel, spears are shoved through the killing holes in the front and back of the enemy line, making it impossible for the middle of the line to escape. Thus a handful of men can in turn kill many hundreds. You can’t believe an experienced soldier would fall into a trap like that, but the noise coming down the hall tells a different story. You stare into the darkness of the tunnel you just came through; listening to the sounds of men with no interest is concealing their presence. The clank of metal on metal combined with shouts to press forward, echo forth with amazing clarity. Then the distant glow of a torch appears, and at the same time the enemy has spotted the glow of the cavern you are in.

     “They are ahead! Forward Neitar!”

You have already seen the stone slab that will be dropped in place to keep these men from ever entering the cavern. The pirates will wait until the last minute to insure the maximum number of deaths. Then ten pirates will head down each tunnel and cut down over three hundred Neitaren’s. Part of you wants to join them and let your rage find a target and revel in destruction. The other part is a little sick for what you know is about to happen.  Hax touches your shoulder.

“We have to go.” You turn and follow the group down yet another tunnel.

Hour later you emerge into the bright morning sunlight of a field that leads down to a river. Barm points to the river. “We’ll take the skiffs and sail the river down to the bay. As soon as we get there we’ll be careful to see if the Neitaren’s are guarding the water or if we can sail across to Sel Erratz. Once we reach those shores, we should be fine. I’m hoping that my scouts will already have a search party waiting for us. You stare at the rest of the group and can’t believe how many are no longer with you. You shake your head, clearing it of those kinds of thoughts. You look to who is with you now.  There are the eight of you in the group, the group of five witches and twelve Hall Guards. The Minister and the Admiral are kept separated for now, but you have no illusions that they have given up on finishing their fight. The witches also seem upset, and as Barm walks by, you inquire as to why. He watches them as he answers you.

“They are terrified to be outside of the Hall. You know that the base of their power is the use of the bonestone, and they never like to be in a position where they cannot use it.”

“But why can’t they use it? Surely they have more than a few pieces among them.” Barm smiles. ‘It’s because they are no longer surrounded by solid rock.”

“I don’t understand. Why would that matter? I saw the witch use the bonestone at sea. She didn’t need solid rock.”

“It’s not that they need the solid rock to help them. It protects them."

“Protects them? In the pirate’s Hall? What could two thousand pirates not protect them from?” You laugh. He doesn’t.

     “Xoc.”

*IT IS NOW DAY 5. KIVAM, AN INNOCENT, HAS BEEN NIGHTKILLED.*

With 8 players, it takes 5 to lynch

Worldbuilding Quibble: Are you saying that solid rock stops Xoc from attacking or just that it is better to be on something solid when it does?

I'm liking this game a lot. I dunno who my little assassin buddy is now but all I can say is good luck. And as to using the black bonestone ... not sure I can take the credit for that  :P In any case I'm glad you all enjoyed my hypnotic avatar. Happy little fella isn't he?

we have to fight...

THE FIGHT WILL BE TO THE DEATH

I am not certain that what Kivam pulled up exactly applies to this game. It could, but... Wes made it pretty clear that we have to fight.

Kivam and Barm didn't steal from the caves. They recieved the stones in another manner.

Why in hell would we want to lynch danya?

Because it would be nice and lovely if she was evil, right? I don't believe that she is, but it would be poetic in its own twisted way.

Seeing that either you choose to kill one of us or we fight, I will choose the Sinta Blade to cover my own arse.

Posted

Kivam, what do you think of my plan? we know your an innocent so that helps us in the fact that we can definantly trust your judgement.

(everyone look for his response on the public thread)

Posted

I choose my holey trident of flaming super power-glory!!

GOOOO ADMIRAL!

By the way both me and the Minister are innocent, I am pretty sure, and I HIGHLY doubt the entire game is going to end just because I or the Minister do what Wes has told us to do. I mean really that makes no sense at all...

Now lets get ready to do some smiting!!!!

Posted

Or some lynching...

Namely you =/

Yes i think your innocent (I think Loki is the evil)

But killing you will allow the minister some sort of mysterious action. Something i believe will help offset the ability of the black bonestone to make a new person an assassin after yourself.

Your passage is clear down the river and across the bay. Barm was right, there are pirates waiting to receive you as you near the shore of Sel Erratz.  You hide the skiffs in a small inlet and take a trail that leads you inland. After a while you stop to rest. You’ve had no sleep and nothing to eat, and as the pirates set up cook fires you realize how hungry you are. The pirates are in a very intense conversation with the Minister and Barm, several cleaning and bandaging the wound in his leg. It has taken on a the ugly red hue of infection, but he is still walking on it. The Admiral is talking to the witches, though he keeps an eye on the Minister. Coffee and breakfast are served and it has to be the best meal you have ever had, though it is simple by all accounts. Thick-crusted bread covered with honey and butter. Strips of bacon and fresh fruit. As you finish off thee last piece of bacon, the pirates are already striking camp. Barm comes back to the group.

“We’ll march for the rest of the day. By late afternoon we’ll reach a village where we can spend the night. It’s deep in the jungle and out of the way, so we should be safe enough. When we reach the village though, there are matters between the Minister and the Admiral that the pirates would have settled, and at that point you must not intervene. They will fight and the Brotherhood will recognize the winner as the Minister of The Brotherhood. Tomorrow we will begin plans to take back the Hall. It should take us about twelve hours from now to reach the village. Oh, and along the way you will see very brightly colored frogs throughout the jungle. Do not touch them.”

vemy..your just a little late on that count

however, i think the admiral has a bold style and i like that so [glow=red,2,300]minister[/glow] ..wow look at that funky frog

also vemy im starting to think that your the one thats evil now, you thinking me evil is quite a turn around for 'loki being loki', and without any reasoning either ect ect so forth you smell bad ..so actually [glow=red,2,300]vemy[/glow]

furthermore .why would i night kill kivam, that waaaaay to unoriginal,  and seeing as you have a well known awe for kivys play then it would make sence that you would night kill him if you happened to be playing against him..also you were around when the night kill happened, hmm very interesting

Posted

I told you we wouldn't die.

I like my style aswell!

I am actually pretty sure the Minister is still innocent, btw just the wording of a PM, I could be wrong but when its 100% random I think we should let him live.

Vemy however, is acting very strangely.

Hey Wes can I propose a truce with the Minister? If not I guess I still have my flaming trident of glory...
