They sidelined Nynaeve after her testing?—IMO it was an over compensating nerf for the ninja powers they gave her in S1.  She can take out a trolloc solo (something a rusty sword master could not do) and sneak up on the best swordsman, legendary warder, king heir of a nation known for its martial prowess.

Her killing the trollocwas primarily a function of stealth. In the books she is regarded a skilled woodswoman which always sense since she probably has to go out and find her herbs (wolves are a thing). The show says she actually tracked Moraine.  So that's  a nerf.

The show actually said Moiraine had a tracking tell that Lan had not spotted in 20 years which is a super nerf on him.

Did they say what it was? I kinda thought it had something to do with the power. But then how could he duplicate? Perhaps itwas just a different perspective thing? Idk

Nope Nyn she told him about the tracking tell to allow him to follow Moiraine to the eye.

OK.  I had thought it must be something about the power cause otherwise I didn't exactly see how that worked for her to find them outside of Shadar Logoth as Moraine wasn't driving per se. Rule of Cool I suppose.

Lol as you can probably guess rule of cool does not quite cut it for me.

TBH, I like the book story better where she does have the woodcraft to track him. It just shows that trying to move horses through brush will leave signs despite efforts to tidy.

I honestly think that was the original plan until they had to rewrite episode 8 so quickly.

I don't think it was explicit either way, though it did come across as horrifically violent. He also did not warn the guy off as I remember, which surely would be part of just beating him up. Otherwise what happens when he turns up at work a few days later? But I think it is filmed amiguously enough that you can fill your own details in.

I'm halfway through S2Ep3...and I'm disgusted...

This Rafe bloke is destroying books I deeply love.

There is simply no purpose to so many of his/the producers changes.

This is truly "inspired by" or "based on"...in the most loosely applicable sense.

They are literally taking themes from the books and creating their own story...a story that doesn't even remotely follow details and plot lines accurately.

I get that at times Jordan was verbose and that there must be some changes in any adaptation...but the things that are true to the books are occasional homage and by far in the minority.

What do others think???

I agree with you 100%. The serial destroyed the lore. It is in the same boat as The witcher. There is one good thing from this fiasco. More people are buying the books now. 1 on 1 adaptation is imposible. Cuts are inevitable BUT following the story important. Hollywood studios must understand that it is quite easy to lose money when the audience starts voting with their wallets.
