Crazy Manipulations

Jagen hoped Aslan would stay in the compartment she just showed him as his. A sister's rooms, but the Red's quarters, like all the others, were not at all filled to capacity. The Sitters had already discussed this with the Highest, and it was going to be their job to reign in any sisters who felt hatred for their new neighbors.

She put on her shawl and let it sit in the crook of her arms while holding the folded summons note from the Amyrlin in her hand. The Reds would just need to get used to the fact that men who could channel were now going to be living with them. It made Jagen almost shudder. But the world was changing and she had no choice. Besides, she didn't hate men. She mistrusted them, but that was not the same as hating. She felt she knew their nature; with the Power, they'd have tried to usurp the authority of the White Tower; reigning them in quickly and forming an alliance had been essential. Especially after the disaster of sisters getting captured. Though, Aslan seemed fairly tame. She felt that bundle of emotions that was her Warder--he was, to her, no matter who had done the bonding!--and pushed them down, trying to concentrate on the matter at hand. Feeling him in her head was still distracting--how did Greens stay sane, with not one but multiple Warders?

Jagen worked her way down the inner spiral hallway that went up and down the length of the Tower, all the way down to the third level. The Amyrlin's study had dark wood doors with the Great Serpent on them, a pace across. The Red walked in and noticed other sisters were there as well, waiting. That was not unusual, but she wondered how many had received the Amyrlin's summons as she had. The Keeper was writing at her desk, Raslyn's wavy gray hair pinned up with clips. It pleased Jagen greatly to have a Red as Keeper and Amyrlin in these days. After their Ajah's unfortunate history with Amyrlin's, now was the time they were poised to overcome all of that--the White Tower reigned in the Black Tower, and would help win the Last Battle. And it would all be done with Reds in charge.

Aslan looked around the rooms he had been showed too, there were a separate bedroom, so he would live here. He could feel Gayl stir reading with ideas for decorations, the personality was not as strong as Jakar and it had taken him some time figuring out about it, having assumed all timeloss beeing J. He could also feel the stubborn streak of J for being shoved aside. Closing his eyes he worked on taking controll of his emotions, allowing theirs to meld slightly with his own, becoming one and smiled. He was geting better at this, hoping in the end he might some day feel whole again.

He over away things in the middle of his floor, assumed the void and locked the door firmly before opening a small gate hoovering above the floor to the outside of his cabin. Hopefully Jagen would be busy at her meeting for a while, meanwhile he could get some of his things, make the apartment feel more like his, and by that also show her that he was serious about staying around.

He had signed up for this because it was nesicary, the black tower had saved his life and given him a home, he would not fail in this endevour, if the leaders thought this was the way forward, the solution, well then he would embrace it no matter how difficult. The first thing he needed to do was level the playing ground, they might be in the red ajah quarters, but his rooms would be his place. It was time to shake the boat and stand his ground. He gathered up some of his own clothes made from skin and soft natural colored fabrics spun from different animal hairs. These were the clothes he wore out here where no one could see him, where he liked to meld in with the nature. Of course outside it was all about the uniform, but seeing as they couldn't let anyone know of their presence, he couldn't use his official garb in Tar Valen. As such he might just dress in what made him comfortable, the high born clothes he been suplied while there felt like it belonged to another life. He grabbed some pelts he was working on making into a throw, some large skins from deers to throw into some of the chairs. He also swept up a large circular rug from the floor, it had a simple patern to it woven by a village woman and was made of wool, soft and warm to tread on.

Aslan went back and forth some trips, gathering up some pots of herbs, as well as some bundles of dried ones he hang over the old desk in the rooms applied to him. He also brought in a couple nature scenic pictures, by the time he closed the gate he felt the room got a flare of himself, and he stacked some of his own books into the shelves nodding content too himself.

Shevara turned from her contemplation of the familiar view from her study window reluctantly. One hand stroked absently along the banded stole settled around her shoulders in a movement that had become habitual now. Having started as a reaction of disbelief to her remarkable ascension to this position, it had gradually turned into a seeking after comfort and reassurance. Amyrlin Seat. Even with so much time having passed, she could not quite accustom herself to the title she had not looked to hold.

Settling herself behind the large, solid desk at the other end of the room, she smoothed a palm once over her pale blonde hair, ensuring naught was amiss with her appearance before her visitors arrived. Outward calm and precision was an important part of seeming in control even when one might not actually be so. These latest tidings had set her on edge. As if there hadn't already been sufficient upheaval in the Borderlands now there seemed to be a potential problem in Saldaea. At least Kandor was somewhat under control again. Her chosen Sisters shouldn't be facing any undue threats and they were capable women, more than capable.

Shevara focused on signing the few documents left on her desk until a firm, familiar knock sounded on the study door heralding Raslyn's entrance. A brief glance between them was all it took for the Keeper to know she could show the Sisters in and, sure enough, the women filed decorously into the spacious room, dipping suitable curtsies alongside their greetings. Shevara inclined her head in acknowledgement as Raslyn crossed the carpet to stand at her side.

"Daughters. Please take your seats. This meeting will of necessity be brief so allow me to get straight to the point."

She watched each of them carefully; judging reactions, noting tiny details, filing her own impressions away for later evaluation as she continued to speak.

"Word has reached us of a certain situation in Saldaea. It gives rise to sufficient suspicion that I'd like it investigated and handled, quickly and with minimal disruption to the locale, as soon as possible. You will all be aware, of course, of the sensitivity of the situation in Kandor even with the Tower's aid. The last thing we need is Saldaea falling into chaos. Mayhap there is no real problem but my instinct tells me otherwise." Shevara scanned the faces before her, satisfied that she had their full attention.

"A young lordling, presently the last incumbent of the minor House of Chaele, appears to be garnering a surprising amount of influence over the women in the area. We all know how foolish young women can be when their heads are turned by some gallant on a flashy horse," she paused and the women before her nodded emphatically, "but this is impacting women of all ages. Many of whom should know better. Rather than merely making eyes at the man in question, or following him around like lovesick puppies, these idiots appear to be going to extremes. I'm reliably informed that they are actually moving out of the town, which constitutes part of his land holdings, and moving closer to his keep. In some cases, they have moved into the keep proper. Naturally a very noticeable imbalance in the populace has formed as a result of these actions and it's stirring up some unrest, hardly surprisingly, amongst the local men. Particularly those who are relatives of the women."

Shevara carefully folded the sheet of paper in front of her and passed it to Raslyn who in turn handed it to the Red Sitter. "I'm placing you in charge of this expedition, Jagen. All the pertinent details you will need are recorded in that document. Get to the bottom of this, quickly." She fixed the young woman with a firm stare. "And take that Asha'man of yours...what's his name? Aslan, yes... take Aslan with you. It will be good experience for you both to work together outwith the Tower. It will not be said that we shirked our side of that treaty! Now, what else? Ah yes. Additional protection. Conor Palfrey will also accompany the group. Orders have already been sent to him at the Warders Yard. Now, unless anyone has any questions?..." Shevara waited a beat but nobody spoke up, "then we are done here. Safe travels, Daughters."

Jagen made herself comfortable on the chair as she could while still sitting properly straight before the Amyrlin Seat. It always pleased her to come into the Amyrlin's office and see a former Red on the Seat. Shevara was only a little younger than Jagen and only a bit weaker in the Power. The Taraboner always made a point to be an ally for Shevara, possibly even a friend if Shevara wanted it, but their duties kept them from getting too close to one another. Jagen was, overall, proud and satisfied she ended up on the Amyrlin Seat. It's too bad it would be improper now to ever ask her about her homeland in more detail. She was always curious about that.

She listened closely and nodded her head a bit at the comment of how foolish young girls could be, but this was an unusual situation. This lord must have been abusing his power, but how were the people of his township letting it happen?

Raslyn handed the paper to the Red Sitter. "I'm placing you in charge of this expedition, Jagen. All the pertinent details you will need are recorded in that document. Get to the bottom of this, quickly." Jagen nodded, and Shevara's face was serious and focused. "And take that Asha'man of yours...what's his name?" Jagen's mouth twitched on the corner. Well, I was thinking of bringing him anyway. "Aslan, yes... take Aslan with you. It will be good experience for you both to work together outwith the Tower. It will not be said that we shirked our side of that treaty!" That indeed. She was reminded she was stuck on the wrong end of that bond. If Aslan ever tried to manipulate her in the way some Greens manipulated their Warders..... well, that did not bear thinking about just then.

"Yes, Mother," she responded dutifully. It was best to keep a tight reign on Aslan, anyway. Any it would indeed be a good learning opportunity. Especially--yes, what if this lord could channel? Aslan would be a very valuable asset indeed.

She listened to the Amyrlin finish up, "....then we are done here. Safe travels, Daughters."

Jagen stood with the others and kissed her ring and curtsied as appropriate. "We will be swift and on point, Mother," she assured her. They all left the study, pausing in the antechamber. "Has anyone been to Saldaea so we may Travel there? The town is... let's see... near the southern end of a river called Chulane."

  • 2 weeks later...

The letter of summons he received with the seal of the Amyrlin Seat was at first, foreboding. Then, Conor assumed it a prank and left it unopened in the trash bin beside his storage desk piled high with whatever was left over in  his pockets. But after a shower, a change of clothes, the itch as to the seal bothered him enough to fish it back out, crack the seal, and moan louder than a .... man at the Lay of the Land. Mentally he cursed a little, and took a second re-read, realizing just exactly what it was that he was assigned to. He may not be the most senior in the yard, however he could count on one hand how many of them were currently unassigned to a task and with any out-of-yard experience.

He squinted up his face ans started to pack up his bags with an uncharacteristic care to folding and organization. Based on the assigned timeline, he had some time yet before he needed to meet the Aes Sedai he would be escorting. Verbally cringing, he stuck his head out the door at the two nearest trainees; One to collect Cairma Visnhu to assist him in getting assistance of fare and food for the journey, and the second to grab another friend to assist in cleaning his quarters. Trainee's can be ordered around to do such things, but Conor rarely made someone else clean up after his own mess. However, it had been a while and if her returned to this it would likely be better to set it all on fire and start new. He was sure Cairma will ensure a worse prank wouldn't be pulled. He had too much to do and somehow he was counting that he did not have enough clean pants.

Jagen folded the paper in her hand and tucked it away in her larger belt pouch. "I must see to getting Aslan, then," she told the other sisters. "This group, let us meet in an hour and a half on the main floor in the meeting room. We can discuss our traveling plans."

The Red then swept away and made her way up the Tower proper to the Ajah quarters again. Some sisters in the hall nodded appropriately as she passed; Jagen was sure they were wary of her now since her bonding. The Taraboner thought she was handling it quite well, circumstances considered.

She knocked on the door of the room she had given her new.. Warder. Or whatever he was to her. "Aslan?" She opened the door to tell him the exciting news.

Aslan-Jakar was lounging in the chair, he felt odd this was the first time he managed to stay aware properly while the other was so precent.  He wanted to rub the side of his head but Jakar disagreed, he looked up as Jagen entered, and waited to see her reaction. Aslan understood why Jakar was so prevalent, and while it anoyed him he couldnt push the other down, he did like the fact that overall in this strugle he seemed to be aware and somewhat have the uper hand. He smiled and motioned with his hands "like it..?"

the room definantly felt more home this way and he had goten ideas slipping up from Gayl too though it was more like bubles, not as prevalent as Jakar, though with the controll, it wasnt quite the same as the picture he had of the personality, and he realised there was more dept to it, and that, that was something he could work with.

Jagen walked in and stopped after only two steps. She looked around and blinked. What in the Light?! The smell of... Earth? ... hit her as she walked into his given apartments. Her blue eyes took in the skins and herbs that were definitely not there before. Well, they had given him a fairly plain room. She was sure that carpet hadn't been there before, either. And it smelled. Her nose wrinkled.

"Well, I see you have been busy." She stuffed down the rising negative feelings at the thought of him using saidin to hop between the Black and White Towers. She did not like that at all. Some rules would have to be set in place. A concern she would definitely bring up the Hall next time they all met.

Goodness, but he smelled like he just came back from hunting. The room did, anyway. "Aslan, you might appreciate the news I bring back, yes? The Amyrlin Seat, she has chosen a few select sisters and guards to attend to a mission. And the Amyrlin asked for you to accompany us. Me, I was going to bring you anyway, but I'm sure you would have agreed nonetheless. How does a trip to Saldaea sound, to investigate what might be a Power-related trouble in a small town?"

Aslan shoved the glee of Jakar wanting to blow up stuff firmly to the back of his mind. He looked around, picked up his travel sack of herbs, tossed it over his shoulder and grabbed his sword. Maybe getting out of this Tower would get her lightened up, and he could get to see her in action in the field. She didn't seem to mind the room, he had been unsure, but maybe she would start cooling down now that she had something to actually focus on, which was good. He then stopped dead and looked down at himself, he was so used to his uniform when going out. Then he shrugged. They didn't want it known so far, unless something had passed him by, that there was co-operation so his clothes he used at the cabin with green wool and skin boots should be fine. He grabbed an extra roll of bandage and shoved it in the pocket of his roedeer west. Better safe then sorry. He didn't know how these things went when the White Tower was on mission, but he was used to being the one taking care of hurt people when the Black Tower was on the move.

"Lets go then," he passed her a small smile and indicated for her to take the lead, following her through the Halls wondering where they would be heading next, and how they planned to get there.

Jagen did not immediately move, studying him. Through the bond there was not much emotion to feel, for the moment she was calculating. "I suggest you pack your... coat. Yes, your uniform." She was just going to have to get used to working with him. With reminding herself he was an Asha'man; not a rogue, but trained in the ways if battle. Deadly. For a moment she mused that it wouldn't be much longer before Greens held most of their bonds.

"We will have to reveal our presence, our stations, once we figure out what is going on. Presuming none of these villagers have seen an Aes Sedai. And, for the public to see the White and Black Towers working together, it would be well, yes? You never know when you might need it. Then, yes, we may go join the others."

Aslan looked at Jagen, what had happened in this meeting, very well he would just have to take her lead on this, it wasnt time to talk with his own leaders. Besides Aslan had a feeling the white tower would do as they pleased, if they found themself ready to let the world know about the towers cooperating and their presence even maybe in Tar Valon, well besides never would been the thing the black tower would keep secret. He turned around and grabed a bag, walked over too a drawer and put his neatly folded uniform into it, it would be nice to be back in it. He liked his curent garb for when he was at the cabin, and out hunting by himself, but the uniform had become like an extension of himself and it had been odd being anywhere public without it.

"Ready then?" he slung the bag over his shoulder and hooked his medicine bag on his belt instead.
