I mean, it's not like he could really go @ us considering we're the most involved players aorn

I think Nini's an easy FoS for him since A) Niniel voted him, and he probably doesn't want to make enemies with anyone not voting him atp B) she isn't the type of player to be present enough to defend herself and misses a lot of EoDs cause of timezone/work stuff

The Kaylee lock town post + pocket post was a joke considering Kaylee had literally just said "I don't like when people lock me in as town early, I feel like they are trying to pocket me"

With that being said, I have her as a very strong townread atp (and honestly thought she was a villager from pretty early on)

Expand

Yeah, see that's the point though. Even as a joke, its a manipulative strat to get on someone's good side. So let's play out if Kaylee is town then since the majority seem to agree on that for now.

As town: You are legit just joking around. Whatever. See what can be gleamed from it. This is what you claim.

As mafia: You see a strong town vibe and maybe sense that people will rally around her. Get her on your good side and you are gold. Or Maybe she has some incorrect views you wish to propagate by NKing her and letting those opinions hang forever.

Either way, the cost benefit of your actions are higher as mafia, and so statistically there's a better chance your actions are motivated by this.

In a basic game though, in my opinion, the only major reason for deceit is to be mafia. Town that tries to get too tricky in a basic game generally just muddies things up more often than not.

I mean, as a villager or wolf, it benefits me to get people's "good sides" in any case. As a villager I want support to see the lynches I want through and that involves trust and sometimes compromise, but it certainly involves building up a group of people you feel are villagers to help dissect the paranoia and agency this game creates

As a wolf, yeah, fair enough

I also, just generally, like joking around. That's about as non-alignment indicative as you can get

Personally I find the village gang-up to backfire more often than it works. Sometimes it works gloriously and you get 3-4 town who somehow link brains right off the bat and there's no stopping them. But honestly this is usually due to a bad mafia team not capable of sowing enough dissent.

I think this is more of an approach difference than anything else

I'm pretty well-known for being a villager who tries his best to identify his teammates and rally them into a cohesive unit in order to succeed at narrowing down the wolf suspects & achieving lynches on them. If you don't trust my word for it, you can ask the people in this game who have a lot of experience with me (Shad, Darthe, Kaylee, Niniel, AJ, Lenlo, Iron) ... I mean, it's a part of my wolfgame as well, since I naturally have to emulate the things I do as a villager as a wolf.

I would also say at least I feel I am pretty successful at doing this, even if I do have my misreads and hiccups and mistakes. But I wouldn't love this game the way I do if I were someone that was afraid to be wrong.

Posted

And "afraid to be wrong" applies to both ends of the spectrum.

Some people are afraid to take a stance on a wolfread because they don't want to be embarrassed if they are incorrect.

In the same sense some people are too afraid to take a hard villager read on someone because they don't want to be embarrassed if they turn out to be wrong.

Me? I embarass myself with pretty much every post, so what am I afraid of? :P

Yeah ok. Fair Enough.

Taking in that strategy though, keeping your opinions and votes reasoning to yourself  ("nothing I wanna talk about yet...") is also antithetical to what you just tried to explain. Yeah, yeah, gauging reactions, blah blah. It's day 1 so anything goes I guess though.

I have no qualms saying...

Shad's responsiveness, insight, general train of thought & dedication at this point would blow me out of the water if he were a wolf. He might say cockily that he's capable of it, but it would be far and away the best wolfgame I've seen from him and doing so while interacting heavily with players he probably would be more cautious of as a wolf (AJ & myself come to mind). My notebook says "people who are so perfectly emulating their high level villager game to be playing the best wolf-game of their lives are almost always just villagers", so I trust the notebook.

Kaylee & Niniel seem extremely genuine in their thoughts and are approaching the game the exact way they typically do as villagers. Kaylee snap reacts in real time and follows up with her thoughts & does what seems most linearly correct for her when she's catching up or making a decision, and has done so totally of her own volition. That's extremely promising for her and I have no problem alloting her plenty of trust as long as she keeps doing so.

Nini I have a pretty unique relationship with in terms of mafia and I think as mafia she tends to get very uncomfortable with me ... here she just feels like normal Nini, understanding fully that she gets pressed for time sometimes. If anything here is really a "meta read", it's Nini - my experience with Shad & Kaylee strengthens my read, but if they were total unknowns to me I'm pretty sure I'd be reading them the same way for their efforts so far.

Lack of experience with Arie makes me less confident in my ability to read her, but she's been very transparent with her thoughts and is approaching this game in a cautious way I feel tends to just be natural for a villager, has been sharp and salient with her thoughts, and just very pleasant to play with*

*admittedly probably not a strong reason to make a read, but appreciated

I explained my vote on Amegakure on page 14. I'd link the post, but we can't do post links anymore.

and yes, there's a little gauging reactions blah blah going on at times, lol ;)

Niniel is probably my lowest villager but trending in the right direction and I'm not going to worry about it unless the behavior I'm anticipating ceases to happen.

Eh, I play out different reads in different ways.

In all honesty, I vastly prefer spending a long part of d1s observing to see what people do of their own volition as opposed to dominating the conversation (which I feel bad about, because it's not my game, it's everyone's game), but due to the game being relatively low-activity early, having a 48-hour day, and being a game where town cannot make many mistakes before losing, I had to get involved early than I would have liked.

If it's impacted my reads in a negative way, well, that's unfortunate.

Whatever the flip/whoever dies tonight Cory's still a villager, I'm highly confident.

Haven't gotten into the whys on that but it's more than just blindly trusting him on D1 because if wolf in a 3 scum 11p mountainous rip

Oh boy! Today was a HOT day at the savanna. The animals all gathered around the watering hole to cool off. Once there though they started to worry that they had been infiltrated by the poachers. They decided to line everyone up and find one animal that wouldn't be refreshed that day. With the scorching heat that would mean certain death, but they were ok with the odds. After all, they had some poachers to find and get rid of.

Eventually it was decided.

if this progression comes from a wolf i am just totally floored.

it's so completely unnecessary for her to bus there, considering she was in good standing in general and had pretty much already left for the day but came back to follow through a discussion with me.

(and again, thanks for the trust, lol)

Shad spent a lot of d1 tailing down AJ and was a major part of his lynch. Add that together with him being ridiculously villagery today in total, there's no doubt here anymore whatsoever.

If he were a wolf with AJ in this setup, I deeply imagine they'd work together and not against eachother in general. They probably could have strong-armed the mislynches they needed from the getgo without much trouble. If anything, it would be the mildest of distancing.
