1. DPR is right and he recruited someone and there was no NK.

2. The Mafia was as inept as DPR has been saying, and targeted Tress knowing there was a high probability a Doctor/Healing type would protect her.

3. They targeted me and didn't kill me.

 

Anyone else have any other ideas on what could have happened.

You were kinda obvious, Ed. Like "vanilla town trying to draw the NK" obvious.

 

I sincerely doubt they would have targeted you with the kill.

 

However inept they may or may not be, they weren't as observant as I expected them to be, though.

So here's the thing about me and mafia. It's very much like me and playing pool.

 

I'm not particularly all that good at it (probably because I never took physics), but every so often I pull off a truly impressive shot that makes me look like I know what the hell I'm doing. Sometimes it's even what I intended to accomplish. Those moments are exhilarating and make me love it so much that I'm willing to suffer all the times I scratch, actually miss hitting the cue ball entirely, or utterly fail to separate the balls on the break.

 

N2 was one of my flashes of brilliance. N3 I tried to pull something tricksy assuming the mafia wasn't actually dumb enough to target me, but were observant enough to catch a couple of hints I dropped earlier in the game.

 

N1 I watched BFG, like I mentioned, and I saw Crusher target her. My assumption was that he was a town power role, probably doc, as she was being widely town read and I was wavering between her and Sooh for the most likely to be targeted for the NK. I tossed Crusher in my list of "people I'm not so much interested in voting today" D2, but when BFG called me on it I realized I didn't have any justification for town reading him based on his actual game content, and I didn't want to broadcast my PR that early, so I played it off as "I thought I saw something, but wasn't sure what it meant". Which was actually true.

 

Crusher went inactive D2, and I kept my thoughts on him to myself - DPR's little drop of meta that Crusher tends to bring his "A" game when he's scum gave me enough justification to keep him out of my serious POE for D2 anyway.

 

When I revealed D3 I assumed Crusher's spot was going to stay inactive without a sub and I would be a dead duck. Just in case, at the beginning of N3 I stated my intention to watch myself... and then I started having all these amazing swirling thoughts about who the mafia team could be, and I thought just mayyyyybe one of them might be sharp enough to spot my little D2 Crusher slip. And so when Zander replaced Crusher, instead of watching myself get protected and risking missing the kill, I watched Zander.

 

Saw nothing.

 

So there's my results from N3, and I hang my head in shame for trying to outWIFOM the night kill and assuming the mafia team was eagle eyed enough to spot who I assumed was the doc.

You also don't mention being role blocked here.

 

Funny that you're suddenly predicting that you'll be role blocked tonight.

I am predicting that IF THEY CAN, mafia will probably roleblock me and not kill me so I can continue to suck and not have any useful information to share.

 

But you just offered to bring us meat. How does that work? And why would they think you suck - makes no sense at all.

 

But more than that, you've spent a good amount of time setting me up as a potential mislynch between your recruit theory and throwing shade at me during the fight phase and your insistence that it's a heavily vanilla game and nitpicking my mentioning a potential thought that literally did not cross my mind until this morning.

 

I made a point to say you were not a potential recruit. I pointed out that your case against me started before last night. I threw shade at you because your 3-way-gambit scenario is way over the top and not something that a player with an informative role would have to waste their time coming up with. As for vanilla roles, that's all we got so far, as I pointed out earlier.

 

If your plan is to retaliate against me for suggesting you were gambiting with Darthe, you can give it a rest. I am willing to reconsider your slot independent of Darthe based on your own merit and bring up concerns you can respond to.

 

We're playing mafia.. we turn over stones... I appreciate your offer to be friends now, but I must regretfully decline.

I have been at F3 twice and made the wrong decision both times.

 

They left me alive N3 for a reason, unless you think they were "dumb enough to shoot me", which you clearly wouldn't be. It is all WIFOM now.

 

I assume they'll leave me alive because I would rather they shoot me, and I never get what I want.

Here's my plan.

 

I am going to assume mafia plans to roleblock me if they can and leave me alive as long as possible because I really suck at F3. Therefore I should be alive for D5 with no useful information to share.

 

When I get home from work tonight, I am going through DPR'S ISO. I will before I go to bed post the things that concern me about his play so far, regardless of Darthe or anyone else. I want to give him time to respond during the nomination phase instead of yesterday's BS where he was throwing shade at me while Nolder was the only other one who could talk.

 

I am going to reconsider everyone else. That includes Dice and Zander and Ed, because I am a bit concerned whether I got distracted before I could solidify my read on Dice, and I don't know that it's plausible for both Zander and Ed to be town PRs.

 

I am not voting until late in the phase because I don't want to let mafia exploit my stupidity, but I am going to be watching and thinking and not taking anything for granted.

After tonight, we'll have info on 5 players, and you can count that as 6 as everyone knows their own alignment...

I'm betting that there are more of you who are also VT. The reason I've speculated that the game is not role heavy is that we've only seen VT's and a goon.

 

So I'm wondering how a RB'er fits into this and why you would assume that one exists to be used against you?

 

And you didn't mention being blocked last night.

I didn't mention it because I saw nothing. Could have been nothing happened to Zander, or a roleblock on me. I have no way of knowing.

Some of us maintain a tab with the game open at all times, though. That could create the false impression that we're reading during times when we're doing something else. 

 

It only stays for so long iirc.

 

But this theory is debunked because i seen them multiple times, in which I mean there were times when they WERENT showing up as online at all.

 

That means they themselves closed it and then reopened it.

 

Again this isnt the be all end all for reading them one way or another, 

 

Its just something that should be factored into the read on them imo.
