He might be a little lavish at doing so, but he's put a significant amount of work into legitimate scum hunting. He's not relying on tone and meta - he is instead questioning motives and pretty solidly sticks to them. It screams town to me.
Where did you see scumhunting? I know I might be biased, but what I've seen is tunneling. Where have you seen him actually trying to explore someone else's alignment? And I'm starting to think that I might have a different definition for "scumhunting" than a lot of you people do...

No, my response is asking you to explain what you mean by scumhunting.It's easy to attach labels to things without definitions.Here's my definition of scumhunting:1) read the thread (that's a bit of a shout out to MrClov :P)2) take not of things that you see in the thread and think about different possibiilties for what that might mean3) ask questions about what you saw. Ask people to explain their statements and actions.4) if you dont' get a satisfactory resolution, follow up5) if you get a satisfactory resolution, move on to another issue to follow up6) collaaborate with other people to explore what they might be seeing that you're not seeing(note that you can be doing 1 through 5 simultaneously)6) don't rinse, but repeat.That's the simple answer.Okay, now your turn. What is scumhunting to you?And can I just explain that I know what you're doing? You keep criticizing the quality of my posts but you rarely respond to the content. And the effect that I assume you're hoping for (if i'm right about your alignment, which I'm increasingly thinking that I am) is taht people will disregard what I say because you keep saying it's nonsense or that I'm trying to tell other people what to think.And yet you responded to a post where I asked you very specific questions by just referencing the fluff part and calling me a poopy head. When I partake in ten mafia goodness and teh moderator gives me a pm in my inbox that says, Crushlove you is town, you win when all dem threats to the town be eliminated. I say, " to the fat cave" , " it's time to scum hunt" I hear the original theme to Batman with Adam West in my head. Then I snack. I get in thread and joke with my friends. I love my mafia friends. I hope one day you and Crushlove can be mafia friends. Then after I joke I snack. I read each post and get a rough idea of the players direction. I call this my direction list. Then I snack. I find most townies play linear in an effort to find scum. Avoid terribly complicated scenarios that add things to the threads to Muttle things. Like " what if statements" and " game mechanic talk beyond reasonable" Then I put pressure on them and go, " hey you, that's crap" if they defend well I typically give benefit. If the react by omgussing me or start a circular argument I keep on them. Sometimes I even make post to see how they react. Then I snack. After that I look at the players I feel good about and I say , " hey friend what are your reads " my friends are awesome. Some use colors, some make list and some give one word answers. I like direct one word answers. People that write long winded diatribes about how everyone else should see things I just thank them but don't read it. Shhh,, don't tell dem. K? I have exceptions though. Like the Pirate I love his long takes of mafia insanity and slanted insight because after I finish I choose key phrases. Dude can write. What can I say?

Ok. You are a little bit of a bullish player. You ask questions and if you don't like the answer you just discredit it and spin an alternative. I find bullish players very fun to play with. But Crushlove is not a fighter, I'm a lover and a snacker. This is the first time we ever played together. Hope not the last, but, you are scum this game. I see no other explanation for the way you reacted to pressure. Pretty sure most if not all of your reads are people that pressured you. Early anyhow. Have not read last few pages. To me thats scummy. I think Tinker might be first person you called out who did not pressure you first. If you are not scum then next time we play I promise to read you better. But for now. When you go back and look at NB's moves, you'll see that his last vote was to move off Kizzy's train to Eldrick's. When he did, Kizzy's vote count dropped to 5. NB's vote count was already at 5, and the momentum had been building on his train and dropping on hers. Ergo, suicide as he - scum - intentionally voted to put his train even with another player's.
Hmmm...that is interesting...I wonder what we should make of that *cough*I actually thought his last vote was on us. I forgot he moved over to Eldrick. But can I also remind you that he and certain others were hoping that Seph would move over to Eldrick since that's who Seph was saying he wanted to vote?If my theory is correct (and I believe it is...but of course I do, because it's my theory :P) then that was just another desperate attempt to shift the train to the second wagon.Sooh moves to NB at 1082, making it three votes.Eldrick Moved to NB at 1100 making it 4 votes.Seph moved to NB at 1117 and started making the plea for other people to move. (seph is now 5 votes)NotBob moves to Eldrick at 1132. (which by the way, makes no sense if Eldrick is his team mate)The ship was already sinking. I noted in my notes that certain people were trying to nudge Seph in Eldrick's direction. But Seph stayed on NB (again, makes no sense if Seph is NB's team mate) and then finally Darthe and Crusher abandon ship and vote for NB (which makes no sense if they ended the day thinking MrsClov/me were sure scum).Let me know if I'm missing somethign from the sequence. I'm reading MrsClov's chart and eating dinner at the same time, but I think that's correct.

You say last to abandon ship like it was determined yet I moved before Darthe and was the lynch vote. Not late or after Darthe but the actual hammer. No, the only games I've played on Mu are the Championship ones and I'm kind of in hiding after the second because my play was pretty terrible :(

Anybody that has played long enough with Darthe knows better than to pay any attention to him until late game.

He hasn't done anything different than his usual and will be sorted in time.

Your logic is deeply flawed. Your recall of events is sketchy at best. Your ability to twist words and put words into people mouths is something special, I'll give you that.

Meh. I never leave anyone to late game. If they're scum they're scum. Leaving them until later doesn't help anything. Especially in a game where you know there are crazy things going on.

I'd like you to do me a favour, DPR. Instead of repeatedly saying that I'm twisting people's words, pull up some actual posts and explain how what I'm saying is inaccurate. I've done it with Darthe. Really specifically. Multiple times. You've ignoed it each time.

And if we're talking about what Darthe is like...is it like darthe to be in a middle of a sass fight with someone and then go silent when they ask him a question he can't answer?

He's dodged a lot of my questions, yes. But usually just says "that's crazy" "that's wolfy" "you're not even on my level"

But why is it that every time I ask him that one question he goes silent? And why is it that you have no interest whatsoever in exploring that with him?

Come at me with facts, not vague accusations.

But you never give specifics.

I'm going to ask you to put in the effort and provide the specifics so we can all be working with the same facts and stuff.

And I'd like to know what yur thoughts on BFG are. Adn the fact that she' independently arriving at similar conclusions and observations taht MrsClov, me, Cuth, Seph, and Eldrick have.

Can you explain your read/none opinion on Darthe? I also suspect you know precisely what and why Liz/Mrs Clov are reading Darthe the way they are, but in short:

Darthe switched from a major scum read to a minor one, while maintaining that the major scum read were still scum

Later he said that at the time he thought the major scum read could be town, but that isn't born out by the thread (since at the time he maintained they were scum)

He's since refused to engage in the topic

I need to reread Night 1/start of day to check the above is true, but I don't recall anything that stood out when I read the original case other than the way it was told.

Oh please Sparky. You asked a player how what DPR was doing is scumhunting . The player answered. You started dismantling it finishing with, " Well I guess we don't agree on what is scum hunting. Get your own link. If I got a the link you would say " no It wasn't I was doing this" then boom 7 more paragraphs. No thanks.,You get one wish from this fat man in a bottle. Not three.

Okay, one last thing (BFG has kind of revved me up now, sorry...)

Facts are facts. You cannot deny that Darthe said that he thought we were scum right after the flip. You cannot deny that he said that he thought we might not be scum when he gave his reasoning for why he moved from our train to NBs.

I did not make that up. The proof is in the thread. He has yet to provide a resolution to those two statements. So why were you so hung up on 309 but you keep ignoring 1189?

This is the part that makes me keep coming back to thinking you have to be scum. Why do you have a blindspot to things that are literally facts of the thread when it comes to darthe?

Just how powerful is darthe's role, I wonder...

It's morning I be sipping coffee and sniffing bacon. Just let my dogs in and they be sniffing bacon too

DPR- Stone cold scum hunting. Putting out scenarios and generating reactions. Seen him play enough to not be put off on the stiffness (like a good bourbon) of his reads and opinion. This is town DPR

Darthe- Early on had a good feeling about his play. I purposely looked at his move at the end of the Jetscode train and it was unecvesary. Jetscode was lynched. Stil trying to determine if that fact makes me feel better or worse about it. His interaction with Liz is pretty much avoidance.

Seph- aside from his obvious alliance with Cloviz and the post lynch reaction that felt like a set up for him to call me or DPR scum At the end of the lynch had been pretty solid since then. His apology seemed genuine but the initial play felt on reread Felt like he planned on doing it and jumped the gun before he read it through. More I read that part less I like it but his connection to Cloviz is probably dripping Dread into it.

Cuth- This dude reminds me of one of my all time favorites from JN. Vic, because he hated to be vanilla town and cuths tossing himself onto the flame kill me kill me scum post reminded me of that. Did not like the one post he made I made mentioned of but his response was adequate.

Cronos- first off someone who plays mafia might not want to put the word wolf in their name but I digress. Got off to a slow start but is making very good reads so far and adding good content. Still need more from him.

Wifi- little bit off an enigma to me. Early on made one sketchy post then got got good in the middle. At the end she went a little emotional with the " I did my best thing" yet good play so far. Pretty sure it was Liz that turned her slightly Dmo.

Eldrick- WTF with this kid? Seeing the game pretty much opposite to me but that's fine. It happens. But holy crap is this child kinetic. " Back off the Ritalin son" This weird ass half ass question then request for protection is so strange I am truly at a lot on this one. Don't hate myself enough to go back and reread him. As a father of five my instimctbis to hug him and tell him it's ok. But I'm not sure it is.

Dice- solid play so far. Seeing the game well and making good reads. Not a ton of posting but what he has posted is solid.

Well. I need a break. Doing all this on my phone. Will return to finish.

Ok, the Dice read in TLDR version...

His early vote on Liz is a bad look for Dice because of the (this vote was already coming, therefore isn't an OMGUS vote) because town!Dice doesn't care how his vote looks. He votes Liz and of anybody OMGUSsusses him for it he laughs at them.

Far more concerning is that his read on Eldrick is entirely 2 dimensional and his read on Liz/Mrs Clov is stuck from the first 500 posts or so. His focus is very narrow. Town! Dice grabs onto something, but he accounts for new information, there is no sign of Dice doing that this game.

If I have doubts it's because I haven't read the context of his saying Mrs Clov are defensive etc

To be fair, Dice did the exact same thing to me when we were both town in Discworld at PerC. Except he was reacting to a vote that he didn't notice until the endof the day, but he claimed he was planning on voting for me anyway.

But I'm really concerned about how narrow his focus has been (not caught up on most of today's posts so I don't know if that's changed) and how he responds to some questions and not others (like I still don't know his thoughts about Darthe or some other people I asked him about). And he doesnt' seem to be taking new information into account. Especially given how he's ranted about how people don't do wagon analysis at PerC but he's paid no attention to the wagons as far as I've seen so far.

But yes, the static reads, narrow focus is the more concerning thing

In a word, yes.

Anybody that has played long enough with Darthe knows better than to pay any attention to him until late game.

He hasn't done anything different than his usual and will be sorted in time.

Your logic is deeply flawed. Your recall of events is sketchy at best. Your ability to twist words and put words into people mouths is something special, I'll give you that.

But by all means, get on with your bad self. It's getting to be somewhat entertaining to watch you.

Meh. I never leave anyone to late game. If they're scum they're scum. Leaving them until later doesn't help anything. Especially in a game where you know there are crazy things going on.

I'd like you to do me a favour, DPR. Instead of repeatedly saying that I'm twisting people's words, pull up some actual posts and explain how what I'm saying is inaccurate. I've done it with Darthe. Really specifically. Multiple times. You've ignoed it each time.

And if we're talking about what Darthe is like...is it like darthe to be in a middle of a sass fight with someone and then go silent when they ask him a question he can't answer?

He's dodged a lot of my questions, yes. But usually just says "that's crazy" "that's wolfy" "you're not even on my level"

But why is it that every time I ask him that one question he goes silent? And why is it that you have no interest whatsoever in exploring that with him?

Come at me with facts, not vague accusations.

You've been presented with specifics multiple times and at this point, you've blown your request privileges. Anyone that wants to see this in action can read the thread.

With Darthe, you never know - that's why experienced players don't focus on him. You'll pick this up as you play more. For now, you seem excited to jump down rabbit holes, dig your own rabbit holes and just basically distract the hell out of everyone with high volumes of pointless material. It will be interesting to see how you flip.

You need to look up "fact" and "vague" in the dictionary and refresh your understanding of what those mean. Of course, Eldrick thinks Occam's Razor means the opposite of what it does - I laughed when I saw that - so you're in good company.

Last, your "warning" is a good example of you being vague and I wonder if anybody has any idea of what you're prattling on about?

It's morning I be sipping coffee and sniffing bacon. Just let my dogs in and they be sniffing bacon too

DPR- Stone cold scum hunting. Putting out scenarios and generating reactions. Seen him play enough to not be put off on the stiffness (like a good bourbon) of his reads and opinion. This is town DPR

Darthe- Early on had a good feeling about his play. I purposely looked at his move at the end of the Jetscode train and it was unecvesary. Jetscode was lynched. Stil trying to determine if that fact makes me feel better or worse about it. His interaction with Liz is pretty much avoidance.

Seph- aside from his obvious alliance with Cloviz and the post lynch reaction that felt like a set up for him to call me or DPR scum At the end of the lynch had been pretty solid since then. His apology seemed genuine but the initial play felt on reread Felt like he planned on doing it and jumped the gun before he read it through. More I read that part less I like it but his connection to Cloviz is probably dripping Dread into it.

Cuth- This dude reminds me of one of my all time favorites from JN. Vic, because he hated to be vanilla town and cuths tossing himself onto the flame kill me kill me scum post reminded me of that. Did not like the one post he made I made mentioned of but his response was adequate.

Cronos- first off someone who plays mafia might not want to put the word wolf in their name but I digress. Got off to a slow start but is making very good reads so far and adding good content. Still need more from him.

Wifi- little bit off an enigma to me. Early on made one sketchy post then got got good in the middle. At the end she went a little emotional with the " I did my best thing" yet good play so far. Pretty sure it was Liz that turned her slightly Dmo.

Eldrick- WTF with this kid? Seeing the game pretty much opposite to me but that's fine. It happens. But holy crap is this child kinetic. " Back off the Ritalin son" This weird ass half ass question then request for protection is so strange I am truly at a lot on this one. Don't hate myself enough to go back and reread him. As a father of five my instimctbis to hug him and tell him it's ok. But I'm not sure it is.

Dice- solid play so far. Seeing the game well and making good reads. Not a ton of posting but what he has posted is solid.

Well. I need a break. Doing all this on my phone. Will return to finish.
