  1. At the top of the production. I was responding to a remark about how may be new writers would improve the new season. S2 is going to be just like S1 imo—-S2 will have changes I dislike as much as the changes as S1. Biggest single misstep was making the EF5 less important to the story. Focus moved to Moiraine might be a good call if you can give me a Ned Stark moment when she loses the power, but there was no drama in that event. Her use of the OP would have to have been stepped over the course of the season may be for that to work. Time given to Logain or Steppin is completely lame and a waste. Take that time and invest in Rand, Perrin, Egwene. Make me care about them, but I didn’t. BTW I didn’t really care about Mat until book 3 in Jordan’s WOT and he ended up as my favorite until he died at end of Knife of Dreams :p.
  2. Rafe is still at the top and wants it to have his current progressive sensibilities as a guiding light. I can see Nynaeve action hero using a short sword in that trailer. ?!
  3. Overall it is a beautiful shot with Mount Fuji, ;), in the background.
  4. Have you tried to make the characters of WoT out of the parts you have. I might be tempted--just got a grandson, so may be when he is 3 I will have excuse to play Legos with him. Don't know if I will remember.
  5. I don't consider it a big issue. The vaunted White Tower should at least be as white as the Taj Mahal. Also I remember (I could be wrong) that is was described as a smooth, gleeming white structure. Which I don't get from this unaltered screen shot.
  6. I watched episode 5 in real time and the image I posted is from the opposite view than the one you posted.. It did not look white when I watched the episode.
  7. Also it could be how some of our heroines learn about tying weaves off. Instead of the wonder girls pulling new skills out of their back sides.
  8. Still doesn't look like Ogier construction with smooth organic or wave like lines.
  9. So someone super-imposed Moiraine over a scene where it showed this tower shot. Episode 5 you see the tower exactly like this.
  10. I think @WhiteVeils is right on some of the stuff. But I want: -Lord Rand and the Sheinarans, because of Rand's character development. It was here Rand developed leadership and his sense of duty. -Portal stones with flicker to gives Rand more developmemt and genuine believability to his sword skills. IMO S1 increased Dragon Reborn awareness on many fronts and sidelined Rand too much. I remember reading the EOTW thinking the DR would be someone they introduce later and then a smidgeon of shock to realize it was Rand. I guess I should have realized much earlier, but I would read as a blank slate without trying to guess things about the story.
  11. Falme wasn't in a desert. Interesting choice. Or may be not Falme.
  12. Uh, sure. WoT is a niche market. Adult Lego collectors are a niche market. I have a decent understanding of USA culture and it is not a mainstream thing for adults to collect Legos. If WoT was a show geared to be more family friendly Lego would have far more incentive to make this product. It will be interesting if they get their 1000 signatures. That really should be an easy get if there is any kind of demand for this product.
  13. I do like seeing the characters in Lego depiction though. If the show would be less graphically violent and less sexual themes then it could skew younger and that would be a great cross over IMO.
  14. None of the adults I know collect and assemble Legos. Sure there could be a niche market of people like that. My friends would be puzzled by adults with toys. I do play video games though at my age of 49.
  15. This is the scene that was freshest in my mind. The Tower looks dingy and obviously not as described in the books. And scenes from the inside where all the stone work is grey and dingy.
  16. I will have to take your word for it that Tar Valon is influenced by S. American architecture and the clothes. BTW the White Tower's look is bad in the show IMO. It is not even white. Sad. Just re-watched episodes 4 and 5. I personally liked the Middle Eastern designs on the soldier and battlements when Logain healed the soldier. It adds a depth to the world building. As do other cultural influences. What I really am saying is that I don't think most viewers will need a specific tie to their own experience to enjoy the story.
  17. Considering that the show aims at a mature audience I don't think Legos has the same demographic as WoT. Not as bad as Game of Thrones Legos would be, but.....
  18. If one were to make a version of LOTR that included such romances it would definitely be a bastardization of the source material. More akin to fan fiction. It is not an "interpretation." As far as being necessary to appeal to Asian audiences. I feel superficial changes count very little and could be wasted effort. Make an excellent show and it will thrive. See stories like The 7 Samurai, Harry Potter series, Legend of King Arthur, Game of Thrones, Gundam, Macross, etc. Great stories don't need to pander to be enjoyed by everybody. The "Korean mourning" scene was the biggest waste of time and nothing like it happened in the books and subverts Lan's character. In fact Daniel Henney isn't Lan from Jordan's WoT--he is a different person.
  19. This actually proves my point a little bit. In no way did the creators of Amazon's WoT try to cater to the population of Brazil, yet it was popular there. That still doesn't prove it is good, but rather that the audience of Brazil wanted to watch it. Did the audience in Brazil fall off and not finish the show? We don't know. May be a lot of Brazillians know the reputation of the books and were interested, but then tuned out on it because it didn't live up to the hype. It is possible this happened in many places. Make something good and it will prove the test of time. I feel that this show's creators had some boxes they wanted to check--while Jordan had a story he wanted to tell. I am hoping for S2. The trailer gets me hyped (and it doesn't really look a lot like TGH in my imagination), but many trailers are way better than the shows they represent. Idk if Squid Game tried to appeal to US audiences or did they make a good story and it lived on its own reputation. I didn't watch it because of its premise though.
  20. I feel like if LOTR were made today Gimli and Legolas would be made lovers. To appeal to a wider audience. Which would be a ridiculous contention. Judkins loved WoT despite that it did not try to appeal to him specifically. I heard zero critcism of lanterns, Daniel Henney, or Asian influence in set or clothes design. Is WoT even shown in China? I actually would be suprised if it is.
  21. Better than some episodes from Amazon's series.
  22. Maybe I need to rewatch episode with Min, but I got no vibes of her being attracted to Rand. She seemed that may be she isn't attracted to men at all. In EOTW she felt like she was teasing and flirting with Rand when she first met him.
