  1. On gender: the book series is more about gender than it is about women and men. The story as-is tackled some modern issues of gender. It isn’t hard as other book series because this stuff is in the books. Trying to “stay true to the intention” of the books. He gave the example of something that might have seemed feminist at the time of publication but no longer by today’s standard, you have to update it to maintain that intent. It’s more about balance between the genders than it is about women. is this the quote you keep referring to? can I ask - did you have a problem with Brandon adding in gay characters which RJ had not thought necessary?
  2. but then Lanfear would have been less likely to fall for the trick and as someone pointed out, leading a riderless horse slows one down

  4. wondering if the memories will kick in and he will have Lews Therin's skill In the books was also far too quick. and Gareth Bryne's statement someone mentioned was in EotW so after only a few sessions
  5. https://www.wotseries.com/2023/09/09/the-wheel-of-time-season-2-and-season-3-cast-updates/ listed all those credited in final four episodes (not reliable), Includes Amaresu and Lews Therin but not Birgitte. it does seem likely they will have her there, since they had the doll in s1
  6. I think Anvaere may anyway have known about him because she had taken over M's e&e's and knew M was interested in him. I thought that is why she approached him at the party in the first place
  7. besides all this, in the book version you have the girls trusting someone they barely know, who is an AS encouraging them to do something against Tower rules. it fits with RJ consistently writing Eg and El as impulsive and thoughtless, but it's a much less believable story
  8. There is also the Min/Liandrin/Ishamael nexus. You don't think that makes it clear?
  9. isn't there a piece in aMoL where Lan defeats two and everyone is very impressed? Talmanes is one after the other not simultaneous. I don't recall anywhere else when two fight in unison, and I think RJ once said they are not good at coordinating
  10. "Then there are the damane — the female channelers the Seanchan keep on leashes (costume designer Sharon Gilham confirms this detail will show up in certain scenes) and deploy as heavy artillery on the battlefield." https://www.polygon.com/23860119/wheel-time-season-2-preview-tease-new-episodes#:~:text=Then there are the damane — the female channelers the Seanchan keep on leashes (costume designer Sharon Gilham confirms this detail will show up in certain scenes) and deploy as heavy artillery on the battlefield. Just noticed this
  11. 1. I don't agree with this. true they could have done Lan better, but M outwitted the Fade, didn't out fight it, and anyone can find it difficult against two skilled opponents. 3. I have blotted s1 e8 out of my memory so not as many 🤔 4. I suspect Rand doesn't fully believe M
  12. yes me too. it looks like her. but it doesn't look like normal channeling - a whip of fire? wafo I suppose
  13. whereas I think each of the characters think they know, but they all "know" different things. I suspect M knows she isn't stilled, Verin and Adeleas and possibly Lan may think she is, and Alanna knows nothing about it and thinks it was just released (which M mentioned to her in S1). I find it intriguing
  14. interesting, because I think exactly the opposite. the point is that we are supposed to think it has been broken - that is why he could not sense the Fades. but Alanna etc are not aware Moiraine has been stilled/shielded. we are supposed to be wondering if he really is like Stepin just is covering it up better or is more in control, or whether really not. I am very curious to see the denouement of this
  15. I would like to see where you got this from. I do not recall Sarah saying they diverged from what she recommended (I assume at every point was meant to be hyperbole), only that she had found some of the charges difficult and had how come on board with them. Brandon said he understood the need for every single change and accepted them, but that specific one he would have had Perrin kill Haral Luhhan instead. not the way I think you have presented it
  16. is there any sign in the show that Nynaeve channelled to bring the arch back? could it not just be that it reappeared at that moment - though I hope we get an explanation as to why she got a second "chance that comes but once" Re Nynaeve's channelling, she is not supposed to have access to the Power inside the Arches, acc to Sheriam. is it just that she is so powerful that she can, or are we starting to see that Nynaeve has a different type of access to the Power. Remembering that her Power deflected Machin Shin, which is also meant to be impossible - not just in terms of level of Power but that the Power doesn't interact with it in that way.
