  1. I liked Loial way more than I thought I would and the actor nailed the role, his performance sang in my ears. And Rand said Blood and Ashes which really sang in my ears.

Really liked this episode, a bit slower and subdued, but the torture scene was pretty harrowing, Perrin’s eyes flashing Yellow was intense and Egwene’s little fireball was great.

I can see people not liking how much emotion Lan showed at the funeral, but that was exactly what was asked of him, to relieve them of their grief. And Rosamund Pike, my god that woman act. This show is really working for me more and more each week and I can’t wait for next Thursday, time to turn this season to its conclusion at the Eye.

Something wonky just happened to the RT tomatometer. Says 86% but I counted up the reviews and should still be 72%. Will probably see this fixed soon. Or Amazon made a sizable donation to RT.

This is because of how RT weights it’s reviews, the first three episodes are at a 72% favorable, but four new reviews specifically for episode 4 have come in and and together they have a 100% favorable rating so that brings the score to 86% favorable

  3. This is the show I was looking for.

Each episode has gotten increasingly better, and there is still plenty of room for improvement but this episode has given me faith in this show. Loved it all, the Myrddraal attack, the Tinker’s wagons looked just as I pictured them, and Logain’s Dragonsworn (Flase Dragonsworn?) army attacking the Aes Sedai camp and then Nynaeve fully unleashed.

The first three episodes amply demonstrate that the writers have made (ahem) a LOT of deviations from the source material, leading to some interesting debates and predictions. In this thread, we lay our markers down. I can't make a poll big enough for this, so please record your answers for posterity by posting them in this thread. Whomever gets the most picks right will win a trip to Prague and an Ed Sheeran-esque cameo in the show!* Make sure to get your picks in quick just in case Episode 4 provides any answers!

    * I have zero authority to promise this, but I'm sure Rafe will come through.

  5. Well I finished the third episode and I liked it more than I liked the second episode which I liked a lot more than the first episode, so hopefully this is a progression that will continue for a few more weeks until I can finally say that I love this show.

Some of the changes have been good, some have been bad and some have been eye roll inducing. The changes to Mat have all been for the best in my opinion, while Perrin’s have left a bit flummoxed as to why they would do that, it’s not so much that he killed his wife, but just her existence in general that bothers me. Perrin accidentally killing someone while he is in a blood rage is a smart way to lead into his character arc, but him having a wife, and being in what I assume was loveless marriage seems needlessly complicated to me. Why not just have him kill  Master Luhan or Danil or just some random villager.

I think the changes that have bothered me the most have been to the things really hooked me on this series, Tam’s fever speeches about Blood Snow and Rand being a foundling, Moiraine telling the village about Manetheren which is the scene that hooked me the most, it was nice that they circled back to it a bit but I’m never going to be ok with that not being a part of the show. And no Dragonmount with Ishy and LTT, leaving that out was a huge mistake and I can see no good reason why they did.

I guess at the end of the day I’m going to keep going with the show, quitting on WOT is just not something I do, I’m hard wired to love this world and it’s inhabitants. But there is a lot of room for improvement in this show, and if the last two episodes are any indication they may actually get there in the end. I sure hope they do at least.

  6. I watched the second episode and I certainly like it much more than the first episode, I’m at about 50/50 on this show. Shadar Logoth looked great, Mashadar not so much. But 1 thing is bugging me, why have they not mentioned the two halves of the One Power? Did I miss this, they’re not gonna change this aspect right?

  7. Blood and bloody ashes that was a mess. I didn’t much care for it to be honest, I liked Lan and I liked them changing up Mat’s home life. But I didn’t much care for a lot of this, I’ve only seen the first episode mind you and I have every intention of continuing on but after that first episode, I needed to vent a bit because it left me shaking my head at a lot of this. The editing was down right awful, I usually don’t notice technical aspects but when I do notice it it means it’s really bad. I really don’t trust whoever is making this anymore, I realize that lots of things need to be changed and condensed but my first impression of this show is pretty bad.
