What about Lan as a baby? We know if they are going to do his backstory, they have to show him being carried away from Malkier, so they would need a baby for that. Plus, the Borderlanders are supposed to be a little darker skinned than Rand, so it would make sense, right?

They don’t really need to show all the Babies, just a woman standing there holding a bundle that makes you think as a viewer that there is an actual baby but in actuality there is not, with maybe a soundtrack of a baby crying. In any film or show you will see if you can’t see the baby then there won’t be one there.

I think it's pretty clear that the cloaks won't exist at all.  They probably just won't even be a thing.  Viewers won't know there's a thing to miss, and readers are already going to be up in arms about all the other dumb changes that it'll just be lost in the storm.

Longer episodes could be good, or they could be bad.  I've rarely been disappointed with and not want to continue with shows who's episodes feel too short (though I will prefer to binge them).  On the other hand, episodes that run too long will often feel like they start to drag, or feel all over the place and disconnected, leaving me either bored, or confused as to what's going on, and thus disinterested.

    sorry misread post, deleted.

@The Purple AjahI'm assuming you're correct about about Bode, I wonder if they'll make her more important in Saliday, i.e. give a novice perspective and maybe give her some aspects of Nicola.

As for Egwene's sisters, is that part somewhere else as I didn't think her sisters were ever named and never appeared? I remember something about a different prologue but that's about it.

I think perrin's characters depend largely on what exactly Leyla's relationship to him is and what her role is.

Leyla is a complete misdirection by Rafe, she is actually Steve’s Wife.?

He's the one with the amazing voice, right? I was hoping they'd make him Thom, because he could certainly mesmerize an audience with some story in High Chant. But at least he's playing one of my favourite characters.

Amazing voice? Not quite sure what you mean by that one. He has a deep distinctive voice and has done some Video game voiceover but as far as i know he is not well known for his voice.

  5. Michael McHelhatton will of course be immediately recognisable to many Fantasy Fans due to his portrayal as Roose Bolton in Game of Thrones. Am very interested to see him playing what is in many ways a very different role. Has a huge body of work including several dozen Movies and TV Shows.

Kae Alexander is another GOT veteran but won’t be recognisable from her GOT role. While a very minor character in GOT(only 3 Episodes) she was involved in 2 pivotal scenes.

I think they merged Liandrin and maybe Alviarin and Galina. The actress cast was apparently Lady Mcbeth opposite Sir Patrick Stewart and I don't think you cast someone who can hold her own against Captain Picard if she'll just be liandrin.

You can’t merge Liandrin and Alviarin, they are 2 of the 3 most important Black Ajahs in the books with very different storylines that could not be merged with any credibility. One has a death sentence on her head as a known BA and the other one is an unknown BA in a very important role within the Tower.

Teaser would be great. I mean we had the guitar, Mat's voice and hands and thin Moraine, next logical step.

We have heard from Perrin, Egwene, Mat and Morraine so far, so i think we will hear something from Nynaeve next and the Rand last. Nynaeve will be saying something about being along to protect the Emonds Fielders, Rand, I’m not sure what he will be saying.

@HarldinI think you'll get your wish. As with Mat killing Couladin and probably a few others I'm forgetting, some scenes are just too important not to be shown. I just hope Sean Bean is the voice of Narg.

Narg breaking through the door and saying.

My Brother, my Captain, my King

or will he say Winter is coming

    ?

I want to see Sean Bean as Artur Hawkwing in a Cameo, and they don’t even have to come up with a way to kill him off.?

Yes i think we will see EF attacked on Winternight

Along with casting, there are also going to to be major changes, one being that the first three books weren't aimed at a far away ending which is why Ishamael won't die 3 times, etc. Another big change is will we get the AMOL ending or will we get some version of the one if RJ lived. So another turning of the wheel is a better way to think and that phrase isn't mine, I heard in a youtube video, who can't remember where he heard it.

I first heard that saying some months back just can’t remember where. WOT sets up so that everything has to be treated as Canon and can be written of as another turning of the Wheel

Logain is also a relatively minor character that becomes a semi important sort of major character later on, if that makes sense. He really should get more book time than he actually does and frankly there are some sideplots we could do without to make room for him.

While watching youtube I heard something, think of series as a different turning of the wheel.

Agree on giving Logain more book time, would like to have read about him being captured by Taim and his attempts at breaking him.
Treating the TV Show as a different turning is definitely a good way to look at it and a good way to shoot down some of the more vocal critics, because there is no real comeback, you could make massive changes and still call it the Wheel of Time as there is no true Canon, just another turning of the Wheel.

    Hi guys

I've been a fan of the WoT series since the mid nineties. Got as far as Winters Heart then got distracted by other stuff.  Starting again from Eye Of The World now, and enjoying it as if it was the first read.

I almost had a coronary when I heard about the TV series, and have been following progress avidly ever since.

Subscribed to NaeBlis recently, and I generally keep up with Andy Greene, Dusty Wheel and others on Youtube.

I'm looking forward to becoming a part of this community that I should have joined a lot sooner.

    Tai Shar Dragonmount!!!

Andy Greene, any relation to Daniel Greene??
Both Daniel and Naeblis have great Discord sites as well. Not hard to get distracted in WH right in the middle of the slog.
    Anyway welcome to Dragonmount.

Elder_Haman, that was very well-thought out and interesting to read. Previously, I had been predicting episode 1 to start with some kind of epic showdown between a bunch of Aes Sedai and Logain, kind of like LOTR beginning with that huge battle against Sauron.

{I thought it would work well if, after a 5-10 minute mind-blowing, *expensive* sequence where Logain is showing off how devastating and terrifying channeling can be, calling down lightning and blasting away armies of soldiers, the Aes Sedai finally capture and gentle him with a ring of sisters, and when he finally goes limp, a scene like this plays out:

Sister 1: The world is safe! The Dragon Reborn has been stopped.

Sister 2: Are you so sure? There are some among us who don't believe this man is the true Dragon.

    Sister 1: Huh? Like who?

    (but better written!)

    And then we follow a wind across the kingdom to Moiraine and Lan as they enter Emond's Field. }

But, after reading your breakdown/theory, I think I would maybe rather see Logain developed more in line with what you're suggesting for a few episodes before they capture/gentle him.

Sister one : definitely Liandrin, we know she is in S1

My only guess is that this (Bot?) only reads their own fanfiction. ?

And we all know the truth is Rand and all 3 of his lovers drove off in a 1967 Mustang not sailed off on a boat, after being given a huge farewell party ???

    people should get this right.

  14. Don’t know if i would call Logain a “major”character in S1, i think we will see his capture as the prologue to E1 and i think we will see some sort of scene between him and Rand, maybe him in the Cage in Caemlyn and him noticing Rand as he does in the Book as a glowing nimbus of light in the distance.

Not quite sure how they would fit him in S2 unless he was to go to Falme with Liandrin and the girls. The other possibility for Logain is they combine him with Mazrim Taim(i certainly hope they don’t) but anything is possible and there is a change that Sanderson doesn’t think the Fans will be happy about.

I have read them all, including the prequel. Did not care for the way it ended(diff. author), but Min and Rand are the ones that end together, as Rand loses his power to win the war. Going into the sunset on a boat, REALLY? Where can they go and be safe from any power based person? Rand is a sword master, but... Loved the idea of uniting everything by those two, but always felt that poor Min's power was a curse for her, until she ends with Rand, while the others just have his kids.

                                        Sincerely, EdTheBeast

I think you may need to re-read the ending, going into the Sunset on a boat? It finishes on the Slopes of Shayul Gul in the blasted Lands, about 3000 years since any form of Boat has been seen there. Rand was last seen by himself and with the exception of his 3 loves and maybe Cadsuane, everyone thinks his dead due to the fact they had just burnt his body. Min does not go with him at this time. As for how powerful he is,  Lighting his pipe ring any bells?
By the way Robert Jordan wrote the Epilogue to AMOL before he died, it was in the notes given Sanderson.

I believe Nyn and Moraine used balefire at more or less the same time though Moraine actually knew what she was doing. Nyneave is far better than Egwene because Nyn was much better written whereas Egwene was just handed everything. Also, unlike Nyneave struggling with her block for 7 books E never has any PTSD or other issues related to her torture by the seanchan.

But not everyone suffers from PTSD in a given situation or it doesn’t come out till years or even decades later. Egwene never stops for the rest of her life, first the journey back to the Tower, then being raised to Accepted, then being sent after the BA, then the trip to Tear, then off to train with the Aiel, then the invasion of Carhien with the Aiel, then being injured on the Docks, then the Summons and being raised Amrylin, then the trip to Tar Valon to reunite the Tower, then her capture and mistreatment from the Tower AS, then defeating the Seanchan and Tower reunification, then dealing with the BA, then having to deal with Rand, then the final Battle.
Egwene was simply to busy to have time to suffer from PTSD.

PTSD tends to rear its ugly head after the war is over not while someone is still fighting that war, when they have returned and settled back into there normal lives. If Egwene had survived and returned to the WT, she may have suffered PTSD somewhere down the track.

Laman was killed on the battlefield at Tar Valon, if I'm not mistaken.

The whole point of the invasion was to kill Laman for his sin, if Laman had been killed in Carhien then the Aiel would have immediately returned to the Waste and Rand would have been born in a Hold somewhere in the Waste, creating an entirely different story.

    I like your concepts.

My take is that it is unlikely we will get any material from the EotW prologue.

I'll be interested to see if they do a 'young Moiraine'. It seems likely, as there was an actress cast as young Siuan. But I suspect they may retcon both characters a bit and have them in the tower as much younger Novices.

    Here's a possibility:

They begin with Moiraine arriving at the Tower as a young girl. Rosamund begins narrating, "as a child, I learned of the White Tower..." And then they go through a montage of Moriaine's early life at the Tower. She meets young Siuan, and does Novice stuff. They show her learning to make weaves as Rosamund narrates something like, "there I was taught how to channel Saidar, the female half of the One Power." And then some footage of Reds capturing a male channeler while she narrates about protecting the world from men who go crazy because of the corruption on Saidin. And then end with something like, "my training has led me to understand one crucial thing ... never underestimate the women in this tower."

Then they cut to just outside the White Tower. The Battle of the Shining Walls is underway. The armies are battling. We see Laman (we know this by his crown) fighting. He goes down when a veiled warrior stabs him with a spear. The warrior bends over, picks up Laman's sword, then turns his back to the battlefield and begins to jog away. Other veiled warriors start to do the same. The City's defenders appear confused. We pan across the city to the Tower and then in through a window where we find...

Accepted Siuan and Moiraine are snuggling, talking about the Aiel War. When will it ever end? Will the Tower get involved? Some dialogue about Laman cutting down the Tree and how the Aiel went crazy. Another Accepted pokes her head in and tells them they need to attend the Amyrlin.

Cut to the slopes of Dragonmount. Tigraine is alone, stumbling through the snow. Obviously pregnant. She stumbles into a crevice in the rock. It's clear she is about to give birth. Fighting is still going on nearby. She screams in pain.

Back to Moiraine and Siuan. Now they are in the Amyrlin's study attending her. Gitara asks for some tea and Moiraine brings it. A servant comes in bringing a reporting to the Amyrlin: Lehman is dead and the Aiel are leaving the battlefield. Gitara takes the tea from Moiraine's hands, then her eyes go white and she drops the tea. She stiffens and says, "He is born again! I feel him. The Dragon takes his first breath on the slope of Dragonmount! He is coming!" Then she collapses dead.

Back to Dragonmount. Tigraine is dead. A baby is next to her wailing. And we see Tam's back as he walks over, bends down, and picks the baby up.

    Cut to Opening Credits...

Maybe saving the EOTW Prologue for the S2 opening, does make some sense as that is when the confirmation that Rand is the DR will come. I think S1 will begin with the capture of Logain.

Not a bad synopsis for the opening Prologue but i would add one thing, have the Accepted who puts her head in, Elaida in not a good mood and the 2 girls actually identify Elaida, setting the scene for whats to come.

Opening Credits, i would have a 7 spoke Wheel slowly turning with the numbers 1-7 on each Spoke and as a spoke comes up on Camera a actor name comes up starting with Rosamund, then Lan, then the EF5, don’t think anyone else will be regarded as Series regulars in S1

Good observation about Aram. Glad I wasn’t the only one that shrugged at his death - was feeling guilty about not caring more, but guess it was by design.

Fairly forgettable character overall, about the only time you even remembered he existed was when he was mentioned in someone else’s POV. I think it would have been better killing him off in some heroic act defending either Perrin or Faille. I certainly didn’t like him being turned into a traitor.
