I think in anticipation of S3 we should have our own Darkfriend social on here …

I really hope Lanfear wins in this turning of the wheel. Best. Character. In S2!

And how creepy was Moggy? Whatever else I complain about. Sweet ending … I’ll be back for S3 & will have “I ❤️‍🔥 Lanfear” T-Shirts ordered in advance.

    Or “Moggy 🕸️ Me”

    Or “Sammael is my Superhero”

    Or “Graendal, spank me?”
    Or “Rahvin is

    I'll have a Liandrin one!

    "The Persimmons Are in Season"

    😄

  2. Yeah...

I want to like the show, I've waited 25 years for it! So I don't think too hard about the things that don't make sense. And that bugs me, because I like to pick things apart 🤭

But I was happy with all the little lines directly taken from the books, and the scenes (and I suppose I use 'scenes' in the loosest sense of the word!). And I'm looking forward to the next season.

But I do wish it wasn't quite so different from the books. But! I'm also glad to have this show.

    Saidin and saidar.

Regarding the Adam removal, I've read someone speculating the ring the Suldam wear which has a similar symbol to the Adams chest piece is used as a key to unlock the Adam.

I like this, I did notice that ring during the sponge-down.

I wasn't all that keen on this episode, it was okay but I had to wait a day before I could watch it and it didn't really feel worth the wait!

My favourite part was when Egwene was braiding her hair in her kennel. Just made me smile, you know she's not able to fight against what's been done to her, but she can braid her hair and remember that she is Egwene from the (whoops that's right, there's no 'the' in the show 🤪) Two Rivers and they cannot take that from her, they will never break her as long as she remembers who she is and where she came from.

Next week should be good!! 🤞

  4. I had to wait until Sunday night to watch this one! It was worth the wait though, how good was Renna. I loved the portrayal of the sul'dam/damane relationship. Didn't get any BDSM feels from it personally (funny how many pages that convo has taken up this topic 😆), as I remember from the books how the Seanchan thought of damane as being animals, the most exotic of their exotics. But even without that, Renna repeatedly told Egwene that she was a damane, not a woman.

And Liandrin again! Every time I watch her I just like/pity her a little bit more. So much more interesting than in the books! And that sour face...

I am a bit concerned though that Nynaeve was able to channel (albeit brief and uncontrolled) after Ryma told her to relate it to healing, as she is supposed to be unable to unless angry. I'm hoping it won't affect a particular favourite scene further down the track, even as I kinda do like the fact that I don't know exactly what's going to happen in the show. (Uno again 😭)

  5. We saw the saa....

Also I must say, I was really kinda hoping Liandrin wasn't going to be Black in the show! Because I've really been enjoying how complex her character is, she's easily one of the most interesting characters in the show. I thought they may have just been combining her with Elaida. I'd even convinced myself last week that she had convinced herself that she wasn't technically using the One Power as a weapon on the Wonder Girls and so wasn't breaking any Oaths. But she didn't, and she was, and so I guess she's just a complex and interesting Darkfriend 😆

Can't wait to watch Egwene next week!

Just looked at the map and you are correct, Falme is in Amoth Plains, and if I remember correctly, it is contested lands for Arad Doman and Tarrabon?

    Cheers 🍻

    🙂

Yes, it's no man's land between them and they do fight over it. But I think Falme being a city/large town in its own right keeps it from being conquered by one nation or the other.

  7. "It's me, hi, I'm the Dragon it's me."

Does anyone else hate them calling Falme "falm"? I've always pronounced it "fal-may".

Also Donal is really rocking it as Mat I must say.

And Elayne is annoying/sweet, but she always was, let's be honest.

And I was shouting at the TV when Nynaeve was packing to leave the Tower! Where could she possibly go from there, to join the Kin?? Curse you Rafe! But then it was just part of the Three Arches, thank the Light.

Can't wait for next week! Think I'll have to re-watch in the meantime though 🤭

Edit: and I forgot Uno, what the bloody hell 😭

    Isn't Falme in Arod Doman?

Falme is between Arad Doman and Tarabon. But yeah that makes sense, it has been months after all, they could have made it that far.

Edit: I forgot about the battle they have in Falme (may or may not be drunk right now 🤭), so yeah def makes sense for them to have made their way there by now.

A woman in full labour actually fighting against trained and experienced soldiers is pretty ridiculous

Shaiel was a trained and experienced soldier too ?

She was also STRONG, strong in every sense of the word. She was strong enough to survive the Waste and strong enough to become a Maiden. Strong enough to leave her beloved son, family, people, and future throne behind on the Fortelling of an Aes Sedai. She was a fighter, she was Far Dareis Mai.

And the body is capable of anything if the mind wants it enough, whether you're in labour, or fighting for your life, or both if you're unlucky enough. It's possible to fight against the deepest instinct to push out your baby (I've had to do that myself, so I know this), and on either side of your contractions, I personally was fine. So I have no problem with their portrayal of her pwning those Companions while fighting the urge to push out her child, because she is a bloody Aiel doing what has to be done. She kicked their asses, as I would expect any Aiel to do, whether stabbed and in full labour, or otherwise. I thought it was really well done, it showed just how hard the Aiel are, and I loved watching her ❤️?

I loved this whole episode actually. Can't wait for next week!!

  10. I really hope they include a few songs that are recognisable! The Wheel of Time turns, after all. From memory there are two songs from our time mentioned in the books, 'Toss the Feathers', and 'Upside Down and Round and Round'. It would be so cool to hear Third Age versions of First Age songs ❤️ imagine hearing Hungarian Dance No. 5 played around the Tinkers' campfire, or a gleeman in the background at an inn spinning a haunting tale about the Master of Puppets. (Side note: bardcore is a thing dontcha know ?)

I also desperately hope the Ogier war song is included! And I hope it's ferocious.

My daughter got hers this year.  So far so good.  She hasn't had any complaints other than a wire scratching her cheek for a little bit.  Now it doesn't bother her any more.  We will see how the first tightening goes.

    What a trooper ❤️

Had them as an adult and got them taken off about 3 years ago.  Don't know that I'd do it again, but then I didn't have a medical issue associated with them either.

Plus side - teeth are straight

Bad side - Constantly getting food stuck between my teeth now - didn't have that problem when they were all crowded.  Probably only I notice this, but the left side of my mouth closes faster than the right - so as the left teeth come together there is a gap on the right.  And it took at least a year longer than they said.

Ooh, see I'm a little worried about it taking longer for me too, as adult teeth are tougher to move than a teenager's. And with your bite gap, was that something you only noticed once they came off?

  12. Anyone else suffering through the joy of braces? ?

I had a severe overbite (it was at 110% according to the orthodontist!), but I never went to the dentist as a kid, and it never really affected me until my late twenties, so nothing was ever done about it. But when it started to give me consistent pain inside my ears, I figured it was only going to get worse as I got older, so a year ago I got them as an adult.

It was awful for the first couple of months, and my first visit to get them tightened was excruciating ? it's gotten better though and I've gotten used to them. There are certain things I can do already without pain and they've been worth it just for that - makes me realise how bad it must have been and how you can get used to anything ?

Anyway I got elastics put on today, it's very uncomfortable and feels so weird! Hopefully it doesn't take too long to get used to them.

Who else is a metal mouth like me? Or had them as a teenager and remembers the horrors ?

Seaine's eyebrowswhat kind of character are you thinking.

Well, I already have an approved novice - bio here: https://dragonmount.com/forums/topic/107684-approved-tar-valon-wt-bio-for-elara-adnan-ccd-by-the-alliance/ - that I'm really keen to start RPing with, but being a novice really limits who she can interact with. I'm happy for her to break the rules and deal with the consequences though, if it means more people can join in on the RP?

So just depends what characters people have - if it's more warders then maybe my novice could be spying on them and then we meet etc (knowing this is against the rules so if there's any Accepted, Aes Sedai, or Warder chars they could come along to punish us), or if it's more novices we could do something in the tower getting to know each other.

Otherwise, if it's mostly non-Tower characters people have, I would probably make a new character up ?

    @Ryrin  - I think this might help you?  https://dragonmount.com/forums/topic/51236-bio-info-rp-group-histories/

  14. Hi! I'm wanting to get started RPing with my novice Elara, and was over in the TV RP private boards looking for IC info, mostly about the MoN at this stage. But the link I clicked to presumably go to the MoN's bio said I didn't have permission to view it.

Since there's been very little activity over there, I just wanted to know if all the info there is still accurate? Not just for the MoN (Valeri still?), but for everyone? And if so, is there somewhere I can find info about the MoN?

Also I wasn't sure where to post this so I hope it's the right place ?

I too am of the opinion that while they SHOULD try to find actors and actresses who are both good at acting and also look like their page based counterpart if I am forced to choose between good solid acting and appearance vs the book - I will pick acting every single time.

Totally agree, and I think Rosamund Pike as Moiraine epitomises this. We haven't seen her properly acting in this role yet, and she looks nothing like Moiraine (or even a Cairhienin), but does anyone have any doubts she will be anything but the perfect Moiraine? ??

I'm just really hoping everyone else can ACT. ?
