The shear stubbornness could be villagery tbh.  Wolves can easily avoid unwanted playstyle attention by simply faking adaptation.  But a part of me thinks it's a mentality that would transcend alignment and I'd be at the mercy of rand if I based a read off of it.

I think it's best if we go ahead and nip this kind of thing in the bud - I won't be playing the way that people recognize or are comfortable with. It's not to be contrary or disruptive - It's because I see no value in it.

That's all good and fine but I'm sure you know that people are still going to ask you stuff.

Can you tell me what you think about Bop and what pings you about NB?

At no time did I suggest otherwise. If I'm not mistaken, I've answered everything that anyone has asked?

I pointed out that bop seemed overly defensive of my view of Eldrick's posts and after that, bop became a bit antagonistic toward me in general. I went into some detail regarding this. I need to go back and verify this (haven't had time today), but I'm feeling like Eldrick has been less active as well.

NB's posts are skewing more toward happy mayhem than day 1 settling in, if that makes sense. I'll have to go back and look, but there was one in particular that pinged. Would have been shortly before I noted it.

These are both decent observations.

I can disagree all day with the value of it but ultimately I think it just means you're going to get lynched a few times until we have a sample size to better read you by.

That's one way to play it. Not much skill involved there, but do what you gotta do.

I have this vision of some 80s coach returning from retirement and being dead convinced that Brady and Manning will never outpace his RB core.

We'll see how it goes. It's much more exciting for me now that I know I'm playing with the Brady and Manning of mafia. Kinda gives me a shiver.

I could be the Cleveland Browns for all I care. Towns statistically win more when villagers try to identify each other than when everyone refuses to cooperate based on the paranoia that all players have unlimited wolfing capacity.

I think I understand now... when the self-proclaimed Bradys and Mannings of Mafia tell you who the villagers are and how you are supposed to play it, you have to go along with that or they're gonna lynch you.

Seems legit.

You shitbirds are really something. I can't wait to see what greatness comes next.

I'm open to hearing about why NB belongs on the naughty list. So far he hasn't done anything different than his start in Hackers

Initial thought was "uh no" and ISO confirmed. Could be a matter of this game getting off to a much fluffier start, but he was pretty bold in pushing things from the get-go in Hackers.

What was the similarity you were seeing?

The state of the thread was different, yeah. He responded/made some jokes but it wasn't long before he was getting to the point imo.

I think we're failing to communicate a little bit. I know that you have made comments about people. What I am essentially asking is if you think they're scum or not, etc.

I don't have any fancy reply to the wot post bit on Bop except that it's great if he's a deep wolf but just leaves me needlessly paranoid if I take it to heart, which sends me further down the rabbit hole when I'm decidedly less confident about your alignment than I am about his.

vs just accepting villagery people as villagers until I have reason not to and catching the wolves that can't go deep.

Re "Only an unskilled player will give themselves up on day 1, no? I laughed at bop's statement above regarding the need to appear obvious town - what a complete waste of time. And that's what I'm talking about - the choreographed way that this group plays has nothing to do with how other's play, and if you've allowed yourself to fall into a rut, you can bet that it won't be long before someone comes along to exploit that.", there could be some truth to it, but if so it's the dance of the Mafia community at large these days.  To the best of my knowledge no one in this game has played with Bop except me twice in giant mashes and Sooh a few times.  He's still approaching the game through the same lens I am.

It's pervasive because it's proven effective.  Forces the wolves to bust their asses to keep pace with villagery villagers vs just blending in with the rabble.  It's an endurance game, and there are definitely wolves who've gotten really good at it, but you worry about them when they're still alive late game and focus on lynching their team mates.

At any rate thank you for the insight on how you view the game.  That came off sincere and I don't have any reason to doubt it.  Still will make you a difficult read.

If there's a deep wolf who I'm going to call town all the way to my grave and lose to by end game it's Nyn.

But she's probably still a villager.

Right?

We're all just going to have to agree to disagree.

AJ ridiculously pot/kettle question but I haven't really seen you sink your teeth into anyone yet. Have any wolves?

Not any firm naughty reads yet. There's been a few things here and there that have sort of bugged me that I'm keeping close and waiting to develop.

More generally though I'm concerned with Lenlo's quietness. Sooh was becoming a worry but I think she looked decent earlier and I believe what she says about being busy. Tiink/Calder are pretty null but I haven't paid much attention to them tbh.

Posted

Nope.

Ideas about which null is my lowest null + potential for developing into a village read if they actually are a villager, but I've said pretty much all I'm interested in saying about the roster for now.  Other people need to step up.

DPR could be villa maybe.

Our last few exchanges read honest.  It wasn't game related but he's at least not being slimy in his approach to that topic.

I think his casing moments are wonky but not necessarily out of line with the mentality he's presenting.

i put next to no weight behind it atp but could be villa.

I agree about DPR fwiw. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if he turns up naughty or nice as I can see potential for both. Your point about his attitude being beyond alignments was good and probably true so I don't think him being stubborn is really clearing. He's one of those I'm sort of slow rolling on since he's been sort of polarizing so far irt how people are viewing him.

If I had to pick a secret wolf it'd probably be Bop.

i've read the thread today and don't have any original takes,

I agree with what some have said abotu pralaya's string of posts being villagy and eldrick falling into a vast tonal gulf from how he was earlier in the day.

For Calder's eyes only...

From my notes to Hallipoo...

"Calder. He seems sorta disinterested, bored, not really into it. I would guess that's more likely to come from a place where he randed town. Because he really enjoys being scum. So... nothing solid but gun to head i'd say rand to town just by him being somewhat passive."

Wanted to pull this up while I was thinking of it.

He was pretty disinterested in I think Bolshevik? as a wolf and got heavily invested in Hackers as a villager.

I don't think his interest level is as relevant to his rand as it is to how he's clicking with the rest of the player base in a null sort of way, or RL or whatever.

I've got him null with expectations.
