Reading up now. The timing of the start of this game was so ugh to me. I wish it had started today, but I guess it was a long time coming already.

Difference between my town game and scum game tho.

 

I am high volume either way. What matters is the quality of the posts. When I'm scum I'm obviously not trying to solve. I find a lot to talk about, but the substance isn't there.

 

Shad has said that when I'm scum, I tend to try and connect a teammate to a Villager over trying to connect 2 villagers. I'm not aware of this myself, so can't say if that's right or not.

 

The things I decide are worth notice apparently come off as weird as either alignment. The way I approach the game tends to make a lot of people think I'm scummy regardless of alignment.

You do look like you're being honest. I don't think that someone would respond saying that their scum game just isn't good unless they were (a) town or (b) very confident in their scum abilities. 

 

 

I snipped the post that was same as above. Here we have tiink who is a more seasoned player saying that dricky looks like he could be honest.  However, again this is a lying game.  Tiink could be doing 1 of 2 things:

 

1. genuinely sticking up for dricky (though I seem to remember some other talk later in thread will have to rafo)

 

or

 

2. laying a foundation to push dricky under the bus in some sort of way

 

Plus it was more of a failed summon than anything else.

 

Although you are due a scum role. 2 games in a row as non-mafia

 

I have to say I disagree with this.  I have only played mafia a couple times during my mafia playing career and now is not one of them either.  I have been town like mega games in a row - slight exaggeration - including this one.

By role spec I assume you mean my saying calder is due a scum role. He is >rand to get scum. I think he averages 45%.

Ok. Responding to the response to my post about Tink irt AJ early in the game.

 

It was said that the feel of the post was similar to what else was going on. I disagree. The tone of the posts caught my attention, and that's why I brought it up.

 

I can chalk it up to them knowing each other, as they clearly do, but there was a tone difference.

 

I liked bop's reason for reading me. I can't give him townie points for it by itself because I'm always wary of town reads of me because scum can easily do that to pocket me, but the fact that others have commented positively on his response is a good sign. Slight Nice read for bop

 

 

Sooh not wanting to give a read on shad is sketching me out. She was very open about being able to read him easily last game by how he read her. Why has that changed?

 

 

Still feeling good about shad and adding aj to that list. Nothing concrete for those reads, just feel good tone wise.

If town consistently NLed on D1 more games would be won. Townies typically get killed D1. Huge advantage day for scum. But, no lynching is boring to people.

Plus how would we get the #info with a no lynch?

You still make people give there reads. Im not saying it is perfect but I used to be a big advocate for it.

SOOH: can you please let me know if you are in favor of a NL or not and why?  same with DPR?  though he has kind of stated it throughout the thread.  However, I did not understand it.

 

I think NL has its purpose in the end phases of games where there's an even amount of players left. I'm not used to no lynch on D1, and I can't say that I think it would be good play, even if we end up not mislynching a townie as is often the case.

Alright then, so far I can say that the joke phase threw me off a little, especially given last game when you were scum. I'm not sure how to read your joke phase. We did mindmeld over Wifi, so that's good, not that I think necessarily scum Shad would need to hedge on her for a mislynch anyway, but it was a good sign. 

 

Generally I hope to have a better idea when I'm done catching up.

(in my previous post there was a secondly comment about my thoughts on DPR interpreting it differently than others but if he interpretted it correctly or if others thought the same way he did then i don't think it means as much)

I meant that it was a good analysis for someone who doesn't know Eldrick. If people were thinking like that last game when him and I were a hydra we might have had an easier game lol.

The quips about Shad needing to get out more are probably nothing more than that so I wouldn't take those too highly into consideration. They don't bother me at least, I think that's just his personality to bust balls so null.

The part about him seemingly having no read is my problem currently as well. The back and forth reads more like deflection if he's not actually taking anything away from it. I'll wait for him to respond though.

I'm ok with him not having a read yet, though. It's still very early and several reads aren't developed yet.

What I'm talking about is more like this:

 

I get the impression Shad is focussing on rep more than this game. I say that because we are in d1, barely past (or maybe not even) the shitposting and it would be silly to spec on player's alignments so early because of the high-percentage chance that you'll be wrong.

What's his take away from all that? I can probably assume but what I want to see is the connecting of the dots and follow through otherwise it reads more like he's just deflecting and arguing to counter punch rather than actually try to resolve Shad. It's the progression that matters imo.

 

I kind of agree. I think it's fine not to lock yourself into reads on D1, but this just reads like an excuse. Even if he's not comfortable locking Shad in yet he has talked to Shad and asked questions of him and such. I mean, even saying he's null because reasons stated is better than nothing imo.
