actually, it all comes down to a certain dichotomy. i like to be carefree, but at the same time i impose obligations upon myself based on other people, so when i sense this happening and i don't want it to, i react negatively.

uhm, my understanding is that 4 or 5 people really think zander's slot is scum. do you think they're all town, or that the leaders of said lynch are town? Because you say Zander is a target town has focused on.

 

The post is well reasoned but not alignment indicative. I replied to one part in blue. If you're new and town your approach to mafia is abstract. Maybe you think of it like a game and you're trying to understand why things happen, but I don't know. It's a little surprising seeing a new player being so articulate about the mechanics of town play and what's happening in the thread, true or not.

 

 

I wouldn't say I'm new, this is my 5th game... a little more inexperienced than most of the other players maybe? As far as the alignment of those voting goes, atp I don't feel comfortable nailing down that ALL OF THEM ARE TOWN, simply because I'm still doing my reads and they are fluctuating, so until I PSOT my ISO on someone, even I don't know for sure how I'm feeling about them. I will give you that of the reads I'm working on, a few are on this lynch train, and so far they are more town than scum to me.

 

Also, since this is a game, one of strategy imo, how else would I think of it?

 

I dislike pre-prepared wots because it seems like you're trying to articulate case work without actually going through the visible mental process of getting there. Therefore it's often null with respect to allignment, and sometimes there is tunneling going on.

The first thing she does that catches my attention is the tinfoiling comment, mostly because A) I read it as joking when I first saw it, and then because even once I knew it was serious, nothing about it or her explanation for it reads as scummy for me, as I could actually follow her train of thought even though she doesn't seem to know how to put it into words. At the point that she made the tinfoiling comment, she had already seen Lenlo make a couple of posts re: Sili and their alignment, all of it trending towards town without actually saying it. And she was right, at the time it WAS weird, but on her part it was nothing more than an observation. I feel the ensuing conflict between her and Lenlo was simply based on a mis-understanding of early-game joke-posting. Overall, not alignment indicative at the least.

 

Otherwise, Kat has seemed genuine about her answers, and helpful. I like that, while she hasn't posted much, she is still communicating with the thread when she can, and keeping up with it-- but I don't like that the only thing she has kept up with seems to be the Dice/Zander debate. I would like her to go into her own reads, given the chance, or for her to at least be making a better argument for Sili, but she is instead gives him a pss for the holiday weekend, which while I understand (as we all want ot be with our families) makes me a bit wary, since PC is in less than 12 hours ( I think) and if you have thought of a good counter-wagon, that would be useful info for the people who feel locked into lynching Celeste simply because there are no better options... about the holiday weekend, actually since i'm 'working' or 'sleeping' basically 24/7 with an hour break here and there i'm always like this. get used to it imo.

 

So at the moment, I'm not entirely certain how I feel about Kat. While I don't hate the tinfoiling discussion that happened, or her explanation, she has consistently offered excuses about her play without then following it up with effort... but she only just got back to a comuputer today, aaaand it's at work :/ Honestly, this makes me uncomfortable, because we all have excuses for why we can't be here at times, but I feel town tries to make up for it when they get back by doubling down and contributing what they can to the discussion while they are here, and aside from the one post re: understanding Dice AND towns arguments, but having no solutions/alternatives because the game is too confusing, she hasn't done that.

 

For now I would move Kat to my Null-to-Scum Lean pile. While I can follow her trains of thought, she doesn't have enough of them, and they haven't really lead anywhere, but I'm giving her BotD now that she has access to a computer to step up her game.

so, you think she hasn't been here enough to push her reads and analysis. but you think she's been helpful and she does have reads and analysis that bespeaks town.

I'm not sure how my WoT are preprepared? I write them as I do my ISO, then post them... This is my preferred playstyle atm, and but I'm trying to be accomodating to people who don't like WoT, so is there anything I could do that would help you better understand my arguments?

 

As for your synopsis of my read, no that's not it-- I think of what she has posted, I can understand her thinking. However, despite understanding her thought process, she doesn't go anywhere with it, and that concerns me. I do not think she has been contributing enough thus far though, but acknowledge that she gave valid reasons for that, and am waiting for her to change my opinion now that she has the ability to do so.

 

your read on a kat is a bit forced.

 

you try to go through your steps, but it's more like you're leading to a certain conclusion and everything in the post has the conclusion in mind. i honestly don't see why you can't just go to the conclusion unless you're trying to show how much work you're doing in which case i kind of don't approve because your conclusion is weak and the volume of it makes it unreadable.

 

That's because it IS a bit forced... I already stated I had some difficulty reading her, so I was digging a bit... but that is also why she is in my null pile, so I'm not sure what the problem is there. I'm not pushing her as town, or for lynch so... moving on.

 

Actually, as I was going through her ISO I thought it was going to be a town read, but as I kept going I realized that people had been correct in that her activity and posts did feel a bit off, which is why she ended in my scum pile. If you look at my early initials, i had her much more townish, so not sure how you came to this conclusion.

 

Comments have already been made about my volume, which is why I'm trying to be accommodating by bolding the important parts and adding a light summary at the end with my official read. I find you complaining about seeing my thought process here a little hypocritical, since before you said something about my WoT not allowing you to see my thought process...? Help me here Sili.

Actually, the only thing I really consistently do is solve mechanics. I play mafia for solving what roles/interactions there are more so than for scumhunting. My scumhunting is kinda subpar tbh.

Now let's talk about players and not game mechanics that are probably safe to assume as being the same as the status quo at DM.

Even IF you can figure something out about mechanics, wouldn't you still need to try and figure out who is scummy? Almost regardless of mechanics (save a Bastard game and darthe said he took out that component), there is bound to be at least one team against another.

 

I'm not saying I don't find out who's scummy. I'm saying I'm not nearly as good at it.

The fact the all of the cops were 3p survivors in Pokemon 4

The fact that Wish/Key were Loki and thought they were a Mafia RB in Ragnorok

Yeah, looking through this, AND even the stuff from before, when ther were no role PM's yet, I can't see anything that supports the conclusions she was making. :/ I thought maybe there was something in the pre-role PM stuff, since she wouldn't have known when the role PM's were officially received just by the IT conversation, but there is nada. :/
