After years of a friend encouraging me to read the Wheel of Time series, I broke down and got Eye of the World and finished it a few days ago.  I'm certainly taken with the characters and want to see where their journey takes them over the course of the next 13 books.  Whew!  I expect I'll be done with this in possibly two years or so.

 

Anyway, I just started Wheel of Time Book 2, the Great Hunt and I plan to each all of the books over time.

 

I'm glad to join a community of fantasy fans for what looks like to be a great series.

Hello. Been wanting to start Wot for a couple of years now but always had another book series on the go but i made the leap last month & i'm loving the series so far. Eye of the World was really good but i'm loving The Great Hunt (got around 150 pages to go) Quick question, Where is the best place to go to discuss the earlier books without coming across spoilers?

Well, they can be anywhere now. However, the discussion forum is the worst and I think the social groups would be better. The social groups have lots of activities that are fun and that may not even be related to the WoT. Just be aware that until you join a social group, you will not see all of the boards.

 

I read the 1st three books and then New Spring. What an awesome series WoT is.

Hello and welcome to the site!

 

Since you are only starting the series so far you should probably try and be careful with the threads in the discussion boards since they are more likely to contain a few spoilers until much closer to the end of the series or once you finish it up completely.

 

You may enjoy checking out some or many of our many Social Groups which can be a great way for you to meet and get to know some of the people around the site. You may join as many groups as you'd like and each one has their own draw. All of the groups have some great members, many of us are members of multiple groups, and each group has some fun activities to participate in. If any of the groups appeal to you then feel free to apply to join them. If you have any questions about The Band of the Red Hand, home of music, travel, drinks & food, OR if you have any questions about The Black Tower, home of Spam and Madness, I should also be able to answer those. Other than those two groups I can't really answer many of your questions but if you post here or in their general board for that group I'm sure one of their members will be more than happy to help answer your questions about their group. From my experiance, many of the groups seem to have a little bit of RP mixed in however do not mainly focus on it.

 

If you are looking for some in depth RP we also have the heavier RP-Groups which, though I have little to no knowledge of, is something many find fun to participate in. If you plan on participating I believe they have a main board you can post any questions to if no one here is able answer them.

 

Either way welcome to the site and can't wait for you to join in wherever you feel most comfortable doing so.

I definitely like Rand the best thus far.  

 

I like the on-going gag between Rand and Perrin when they think the other is better with girls.

 

I hate Mat because he is such a loud mouth jerk.  

 

I like the romance between Nynaeve and Lan.
