Objections were made about NotBob, and I explained them pretty well. Again, not getting a ton of support.

 

So let's punish those folks who are hanging around on the sideline, not making any waves or solving the game.

 

I'm going to start with Thane, and I invite anyone to help me lynch him. And I'm not going to bother assembling a case. I already analyzed him.

 

If I don't get some help lynching my suspects, I'm going to follow Dice and lynch whoever the heck he wants to lynch, for consolidation purposes. That means John Snow.

I couldn't follow all the multiquoting discussion that happened over the past couple pages, and I don't think it was very productive. I think it was for show / active lurking kinda stuff, asking questions that don't really lead anywhere. That's my first impression of it, dunno how I'll feel about it later.

 

And I don't really get a strong town vibe from you. This makes me sad, but I'm going to blame the RNG, it's not like you did anything wrong.

Oh and this. Not posting while posting elsewhere constitutes avoiding the game/lurking which is, as you said, an ingame thing. 

 

 

I'm not going to respond to everything that strikes me in catch-up, but I have to call this out.

 

When I'm town, sometimes I'll be online but don't feel like playing mafia.  I'll chat elsewhere and rejoin the game when I'm in the mood a few hours later.  It never bothers me if this looks scummy because hey, I'm town.

 

When I'm scum, I'm paranoid that other people are checking my status/recent posts, and I tend to avoid the rest of the forums until I'm dead.  It's incredibly frustrating.

 

One of the biggest reasons in my head for not wanting to lynch Nolder in AoL--I was too embarrassed to say it in game, and turns out I was right to feel embarrassed about it--was that I stalked the hell out of him.  There was one lynch where the scene took about half an hour to put up, and that whole half hour Nolder was active in the thread.  Scum know the flip and aren't going to F5 spam for 30 minutes to see the death of a town who claimed vanilla, right?  Wrong, and that was the last time I ever stalked someone in Mafia.

 

Stalking is stupid.  Using activity out of the game as a tell is stupid.  I'm 100% with Dice here.  I think we should all just stop doing it because it makes the game less fun.

Ok looking at Tab there just isn't much to see yet.

 

She's got seven posts so far but idk if that's from a lack of trying to just business in her life. I don't remember her being particularly high volume in our last game either so I don't think that's a tell.

 

From what I can gather she has a town read on Pizza and Dice which I think are sort of obvious observations.

 

She expresses some concern about Lenlo that I don't really get or find issue with from Lenlo, but I do remember her taking similar issue with Clov in our last game for doing something similar and she was a villager there.

 

End result: need a lot more content to make a solid call. She isn't particularly scummy outside of the stigma of low volume but none of the stuff she's done is townie either. If the cards were down I don't think I'd have issue lynching her atp

 

 

Meh.  I'm gonna ISO but I think shes not playing like her town self.  Posting less, asking less questions, less engaged, timidish.  And this is just from memory.

Yeah Dice gets into the rules regardless of alignment I think. In the last game with Yates though, I think Yates wrote alot about what Dice does as town/scum. Could try reading up on that?

@ Tab    so what do you want?  Ive already said im reading AJ town, Ive interacted with Pizza re him Nolder and NB  Ive gone back and forth with Snow    and that one isnt JUST about ettiquette. If you read it you should see that it started because of conversation about voting people because they were posting elsewhere. You wanna vote someone? make a case. Hell even just agree with Pizza who already made a case. Even just say I want to vote so and so cause i want to but take some ownership of why ure doing it.

This! There are about two people I've started to feel like I can get a read one, and you were one of them, which is why I wanted more.

 

I gave some thoughts on Pizza and Len already - I feel good about Pizza (can we call you Nomi?), I like how he's putting it all out there, engaging people, and pushing people. So far, I lean town.

 

For Lenlo, I'm not sure. His back and forth with AJ felt weird, but I want to finish catching up in the thread first and look through his posts again. His suggestion of help to me at the end of the post quoted above does make me feel better about him.

 

 

It's actually taken me all day to catch up with the whole thread, and I still feel like I have very few notes.

 

I feel quite good about Pizza, though I don't really have much meta to go on there. I only played with you once in Mafia, but I don't think I can trust that meta as you were trying to disguise yourself (if your usual post style is like this, long and detailed, then it could have been quite the give away).

It should be noted, I wasn't trying to disguise my thoughts or my style of play, I merely tried to use a different account name to avoid a personal conflict between myself and another member.

 

It ended up being prophylactic, but not necessary, and caused more drama than it was ever worth, trying to avoid non-game-related drama.

 

All my thoughts and posts were in the same style as before. You'll note I was very open that game, and that some persons such as Cory and Zander figured out who I was anyway, mostly because I wasn't trying to hide me at all, just the name.

I'm more jokey and diplomatic, and more in control of how people view me, and also more in control of my emotions and reactions to people, when I scum.

 

Can I be the moron who town reads someone based on their self-explained scum meta?

 

But really, I've been wavering between a concern that your traditionally pro-town jumpstart might be designed more to trap gullible town than real scum, and a feeling that you authentically don't care how people view your slot.  The latter almost always indicates town, and I'm going to roll with that for a while.

 

I didn't like your initial cases on Nolder or NotBob, but you clarified most of my concerns before anyone actually raised them, and I'm not thrilled with either slot's reaction to the early suspicion so far (mid p18).
