Mmm.  Catching up, I see that my initial read of Pral was spot on.  Totally wrong on Rack, but he didn't exactly make it easy to read him properly.

Thanks Shad.

@Zander - Nah, not for me.

and still not catch up post??

where you at Poutine Lover??!!!

NEED TO SEE YOU #PUTINTHEWORK!!!!!

#Poutinethework

FTFY!

BFG is town and I am inclined to believe she's right about Corlanna.

Corlanna is my best bet for mafia right now. I don't really have a problem with Laine's posting, it's a little thin, but she's busy and I'm not sure how to read that. Cory is, well, not town (probably). I admit there are a few posts I like, his comment about me and Clov is one I can see from him as town, but not incapable as mafia. Clov is right that some of his responses to Sili feel genuine, although again I don't think he's incapable as mafia. Finally, his arguments with Yates and Pral, I'm pretty torn as to whether I think they're genuine or not, at least in a vacuum.

However, Cory isn't being transparent this game. WHY did he vote Sooh early on, or Rack, or Lenlo or Nomi. Shad is his first town read, yet without being mentioned again is only 1% above null in his list half way through the game, despite later on saying that he was strong on Shad early on. Towards the end of the day Rack challenges Cory as to what he's done to resolve his slot and says he's done nothing. Cory laughs it off and says Rack should read the thread... Except in ISO Cory has done NOTHING (productive, before the challenge) to address Rack, compare this to how Town!Cory handled suspects in Ragnarok. I know that Cory changed his mind on Rack at the last minute, but didn't really do anything to change the train (I know he changed his vote and mentioned Pral a couple of times, but that's not much from Cory). Cory also has Pral as a top mafia read, for posts that could be either alignment - so why does that make him scummy? The argument could be real, I would guess that Pral frustrates him as a player, but for Cory to argue with somebody over play style seems disengenuous. I think at one stage Cory votes Nomi, but never explains why unless it's the linking with Hallia, in which case why not address Hallia first? (This is probably because Nomi is a train at the time, so a vote is more effective here tbf)(but in his read list Nomi is in the 1% above null village bracket with several people underneath and between that and the vote Cory addresses nothing to Nomi).

Actually back to Pral... Cory's read in Ragnarok on Pral was that Pral was different to previous town! Pral - hadn't come into thread with an early case and vote, etc. etc. etc so if that's something that Cory associates with Prals TOWN! game then it seems even odder that he was pushing him as mafia here (again it's not that Cory is WRONG about Pral not being able to make that post as mafia, but Cory associates early presence, interest and votes with Town!Pral). Beyond that Pral has a point about Cory's approach this game...

Cory isn't addressing his suspects directly, he's talking about us. I appreciate I haven't said a lot, but Cory confronted Hallia directly when she had him as a suspect, yet is just leaving me alone (by which I mean pointing fingers in my direction, but not actually approaching me) Not sure I buy it. If Cory thinks I'm so bad as mafia (I am), and spew teammates easily (I probably do) WHY isn't he engaging me, forcing me to give opinions on people???

His question to Sooh about Nomi is literally the second third time he's engaged somebody directly in a 'I want to resolve your slot' way all day. The first was engaging Hallia. When he spoke to Pral he wasn't resolving his slot, he was talking about how effective Pral is in a game. When he was speaking to Lenlo, it was literally 'think you're a wolf'. I guess you could include the change in mind on Rack EOD a resolvement.

In short in his most obvious town game Cory is open and forth coming with his reads, you know what they're going to be (mostly) from his focus and interest in thread, and there's none of that here, instead we have to guess why he's reading such and such a certain way. He's barely addressing his mafia reads of his own voilition, and instead is reacting to what they/we say (he still hasn't spoken to me since the game really got going, and his early response to me reads oddly formally). He's also only explained town reads after being asked (most of them anyway).

I'll be honest I'm not sure if his thought process about me 'doubting him because he hasn't posted a million times already' is real or not (people have feelings), but it's also not what I said. I said he isn't engaged as his most obvious town game

Honestly I just wish you actually understood me. I'm not going to sit here and berate you, just going to try and power through it. But it's really disappointing.

I think the end goal is that I need to stop trying as a villager so I don't have to deal with people trying to hero read me because I'm approaching a game a different way (which is basically what I always do as a villager, because my villager meta evolves a hundred times faster than my wolf meta). But we know I'm not actually capable of mailing it in to the point where I get severely depressed playing this game, so we keep doing it knowing I'll come back in 2-3 months for more dumb punishment.

I'm a villager, BFG. Regardless of your alignment just way to go. I've spent the past few days trying NOT to kick myself over d1 because I got so upset about d1 in Ragnarok I missed a day of work because I could barely get out of bed.

It's also hard to directly engage people who aren't even here most of the time when I'm NOT here 24/7 to be around for the spotty arrivals in general because for once in my life I actually have things to do other than play a dumb internet yelling game.

What do you mean with "people have feelings"?

I have a 1x role cop ability. I peeked Nomi last night because he made that stupid comment about how if he was scum he'd have to be GF. I got a 'nilla response on a corpse. Yay. -_-

Who would kill Nomi? That almost feels like someone taking a hero vig shot

Just unexpected

You are not exempt from Shad's School of Hunting Wolves.

Random thoughts from EOD... Rack asks for suspects to shoot and is given Sooh and Pral... Why not Lenlo, who was the counter train. Maybe I need to reevaluate Lenlo again, why weren't Soon/Pral serious cw?

Pral and Sooh were the options he gave us. He was not interested in shooting Lenlo. I suppose if we were all "omg no shoot Lenlo" he might have moved, but I would have been fine with a Pral lynch yesterday anyway.

I've thought about it. Might be. Nomi could have been run up as a mislynch, seeing he was a suspect for quite a few people... Did feel like he looked better after some back and forth later D1 between him and myself. Need to check who Nomi suspected, and who not. Maybe it'll tell us something

Just weird when a ~mislynchable player gets NKed, especially considering the forum's old propensity for "no information" night kills a lot of the newer players don't really attest to

I don't really like to think about NKs - think it misinforms more than informs - so I guess it's probably not worth really discussing, just find it weird

Shad who are the wolves iyo

I blew off the game this weekend but order of business is to finally ISO Lenlo, read BFG's comments thoroughly, [v]Taborline[/v], and probably start seeing which deep wolf best fits this picture.

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeehhhhhhhh I wish I'd played with you before.

Like I think your treatment if Nomi's death is naive and you aren't a naive player but maybe you still say things like this as town when you're sharing your thoughts as they come to you?

I say whatever comes to mind as town, it's sort of what I do

Don't expect it to stop

A poet of our society once told me the truth about why villages lose at Mafia.

He looked me dead in the eyes and peeled a slice of bark from the tree of wisdom and pushed it in front of my face.

He told me,

"Too many Urkels on your team,

that's why your wins low"

So to all of the people who are floating around and/or giving me flack because "I wasn't invested enough" while posting ~10 times a day phase to my ~300 and/or are making conclusions you aren't competent enough to really make I beg of you to think to yourself:

Am I an Urkel?

If the answer is an unfiltered yes, give me your vote for today. I will use it better than you, swearsies.
