to be super honest, i didn't want to lynch thane. he seemed town. but i was hard clearing dice and zander without seriously looking at them, so i had to lynch someone, which is why I wanted to read the thread before I made my decision, but no one ever gave me a full day to do that.

also, it is a little emberassing, but i almost cleared cory that last day because he reacted so well to my reaction test. the only problem was that his responses were slow and very sparse.

Dice is correct about alt accounts not being allowed on DM. All other issues aside, we cannot expect or allow players to be held to different standards. Whether there's a measurable effect on the game or not, site rules are site rules. It is my responsibility to know them, and I did not fully.

 

What I was offended by was a message I got from the game host, after I died in-game, which stated that he was being asked to modkill players other than myself just based on suspicion they knew my previous identity. It would have been pretty disastrous for the mafia team, since Zander figured it out rather quickly, and so did CoryCurren, who cited a game I was in on 2+2 and I responded citing that same game. Such a modkill policy would have killed half of the mafia team, and gotten probably only Sooh in return.

 

This is only what I was told, but it got me pretty upset.

This is my position on the matter- I don't know what was said, by whom, or why. I also know that based on the site rules, Dice has a legitimate gripe with the fact that I opened a different account to play this game. Anyone having to argue to the game host that the site rules weren't followed deserves to have their concerns addressed, and they are not the bad guy for having aired those concerns privately, or publicly, as they see fit.

 

My own reaction to hearing there was more drama after I was approved to play, and after I died, and that it involved other players besides myself, was not good. It was based on emotion. I wanted to just close these accounts. I don't like drama (it's why I wanted the alt to begin with) and I don't want to be in any way responsible for generating it. It's bad enough if some blowback happens to me if I make a mistake, I don't want it affecting others. Unfortunately the fact is my presence in the game affected others- I will just have to deal with that.

 

The game mod looked into this, a site admin as well. It was discussed publicly.

 

The game is over. Congratulations to the deserving winners, and a tip of the hat to the worthy vanquished.

 

These games are meant to be between friends, and I've already lost a promising one over stupid stuff before, right or wrong. If anything I did this time around caused trouble or ill will, know that it was never my intention. I rather wanted to make sure I didn't cause a problem filling a role in this game to get it off the ground, and it backfired terribly. I regret any conflict that happened which had nothing to do with playing a game. All I want to do now is let it go. Whatever else remains is not worth the stress or the misery that comes with it, invariably. And not worth the price paid when one must defend why they felt what they did. People feel the way they feel, and it's not only possible that two people with good intentions to have a disagreement which harms, it's probably the vast majority of cases, which is why its so tragic when they can't be gotten past.

 

I wanted to delete my previous account and I wanted to delete this one as well, but I've been told by several people not to. So rather than commit to anything like that, one way or the other, I'll simply ensure that if I return it will be with one account only- this one which Verbal will have merged.

Glad to hear about that possibility.

 

My advice would be to take a break from DM for a few months (it's slow during the holidays anyway) and give everyone time to forget and forgive the drama that came with this issue and then maybe come back and play with us again.
