Obviously the dominant thing in the last 20 pages is Cory / Yates firing shots at each other. The whole thing felt like an argument about a completely innocuous comment (the "deadening," which is basically an offhand joke that Yates described as some sort of dishonest trickery based on the unfairness of Cory selecting Hally at that time for "deadening") AND innocuous response, but it DID NOT feel like town / town argument. I'm bothered by Yates deciding that it was time to take an enormous stand about something that tiny, because I do that to have something to rant about when I'm mafia. It's a lot easier to win an argument when you set the stage by making your opponent's position inherently ridiculous - YOU CALLED HALLY A LOCK MAFIA WHEN SHE ONLY HAD 8 POSTS is really the premise Yates is assigning to cory, but that never happened, cory was just talking about POE -  than it is to fake genuine read-making. This bothers me.

 

However, they're claiming already. Totally honest, I don't even know what they're claiming and I don't really care. I thought Yates softed rather than claim. Rule of thumb is that if a claim can't be verified at any point later, there's no compelling reason to believe it now. It's also just very early for a claim, but I don't know how you guys do claims around here.

 

I think cory came out of that looking better than Yates, and he has the volume in this game to justify a solid town read on him both for his willingness to get stuck in that kind of argument and for his general willingness to entirely reset his reads. Without the claim, I'd lynch Yates and feel really bad about lynching my SoCal neighbor Hally, who seems cool. So there's that.

 

Pral

 

So my vote has been on Pral for a while. The good news: he did show up and post reads. The bad news: I don't love them. The good news: he took a magnanimous approach to his reads, including saying he can "totally" understand me voting him for his low post volume, etc. The bad news: that's a smart thing to do as mafia. My gut is telling me that the momentum on Pral is probably a good thing given that villager-y people seem to be doing it and that he still has all day to respond to it by engaging with someone in real time. That would be very helpful.

I think this is where I would vote if not Pral. I note that he suggested that I'm trying to target easy mislynches, and perhaps in this meta that's true, but that's mostly because, as I see it, the "easy mislynches" are only "easy mislynches" because they refuse to offer up meaningful interactions or strong enough content to trump the lack of interactions. Perhaps that's why, in this forum's meta, they are easy mislynches? What would you expect me to do to divine that I'm wrong about players who don't contribute strong reasons to think they're town?

Weirdly, even though he continues to be intentionally opaque, that spoiler post was kind of a town-y troll. It sucks that his best post is literally a town-y troll, but it is.

 

Other Stuff

 

Not understanding why Err is probably town is the same as not having read the posts between 455 - 475. That's all there is to that.

 

Tom is obviously buried by Venture Bros. but he's clearly not really thinking about this one that hard. 

 

I'd like to hear explanations for why there was a little burst of momentum toward lynching me, *after* my flurry of high content posts from the weekend. That doesn't make sense to me, unless you have a problem with the content. And I really doubt anyone really does, but I'm game to talk about it.

Back from the weekend and took couple of days to read the entire game. The good news is that I have caught up completely (Thanks for keeping the game 50 pages in 5 days !)

 

First off, the town reads

 

TinaHel

 

As mentioned earlier, I don't see Tina play a risky move as scum. Her main play after that is asking people to kill the claimed survivor, which matches with what I have seen Tina play. Nothing that I have seen screams scum Tina, which is when she plays super-safe.She did say that she wis changing her game, but I don't see her change her playstyle that quickly.

 

CorMish (Cory/Mish hydra)

 

Both Cory and Mish have screamed town so far. Cory isn't as focused on lynching people D1 when he is scum compared to when he is town. Here, I see a lot of positive attempt to scum-hunt - PoE, baiting etc. I kinda read Mish but have not played with her for someitme. But, her posts again are direct and I don't see any subtle opportunism which is what makes her stand out as scum.

 

Next are the slight town reads

 

Lenlo

 

I totally see Lenlo going after the claimed survivor. He suspects me because of me being a low poster so far, but that is expected of him. His reposnses to those who questioned him have also come out as genuine. 

  

Sili

 

I played with him in a game hwere he was both town and scum and could kind of see the difference in his play. He mostly coasts when he is scum and play on the fact that the town are fighting each other. I don't quite see that opportunism here.

  

JMM, Err and Sleeper Service

 

I have not played with them and don't know how they play. So far, jmm being adamant about his playstyle and not changing it under pressure looks like town to me. 

 

Err's whole post looking at who is suspecting whom looked forced. Something like wanting to post something to look townish. Other than that, nothing much to comment on.

 

Sleeper Service has  a lot of posts and very straightforward. I can totally understand his vote on me. But, him going after me, jmm, sili looks like he is gunning for the easy lynches of the day. 

 

All the above are null and would need more time to read them fully.

 

Tommy

 

He has been shipping his votes from one person to another and I can totally see him doing that as town. He claimed survivor, which I would take with a grain of salt. I don't think lynching a survivor is a priority today because it would not give much information and the priority should be to lynch scum. Tommy was trying to hint a third party for a couple of times before he claimed survivor, which makes it seem like a planned move. Suspicious but not today's lynch.

 

Which brings us to the rest who are my scum leans

 

Manbat

 

He has had a lot of playful posts early in the game, too carefree for what I have seen in his town game so far. Again, he is not someone who I have played a lot with but some things seem off. He has been sheeping Cory and Tom in his votes so far and that stands out odd. Leanign scum here.

 

Sarmtosser (Dice/Csarmi hydra)

 

I definitely don't see csarmi go after a claimed survivor day 1. I can see dice doing it but definitely not csarmi. Dice posts also have some weird kind of aggressiveness that stands out - like this post subtly pushing Sleeper or his doggedness in lynching tommy here

 

HalliYates (Hallia/Yates hydra)

 

Yates whole argument with Cory was making a mountain of a molehill. Yeah, Cory suspected Hally on D1 but the whole build up by Yates seemed over the top. Also, he seems less annoyed that I am posting little and more defending me when others started suspecting me. That said, monstr/Yates talks seem w/w to me - like this response from monstr. I don't buy their claim yet - looks more like "if you kill us, you are going to be in trouble" claim.
