Whoops meant to say 3 day D1, 2 day day phases past that? It's an option

Like OP says I reserve the right to shorten phases as the game goes on. We'll see how it goes.

Oooooh Salami is goin to raaaaaage at you

It's funny to me that all these mafia vets are coming out of the woodwork for this game, a game that Tommy is setting up to be  compared to how most basic games run here lol

My game will be much more normal.  Don't worry about it.

i know it's open setup, no posting restrictions etc etc, but the more we discuss about details, the more confusing it'll get. The roles look alright to me. Let's see what this will provoke.

The good thing about being a mod is that you can listen to the players, put their ideas in the game, but they still have to follow the rules you set

Verb don't screw this up for me like you did last game.

Discworld? Yeah, that was my fault. I'm still annoyed that I lolVerbal'ed that one.

Maybe this time I'll be scum?

Shut up.

LOL

Well the game IS still pretty basic. It's open and there aren't any advanced roles. I can call it standard if you want.

I think with 20p and 4 wolves they need more NA strength so I'm thinking

Godfather or 1x Bulletproof?

Roleblocker

N2 Vig

N3 Vig

I love those "incentive for playing well" vigs.

Just as a general FYI. Since people seem to want the game to be slower + I'm in a game that just started in another site.... I'll be posting less than I usually do so don't get on my case about it. :-P

I'm confused - who wants a game to be slower? And by slow, what are we talking about?

I understand that catching up on 25 pages after missing 6 hours can be less than pleasurable. But this ain't JN and I'm not aware of that level of activity here. Did something happen while I was away?

Games average 100-200 pages these days if they're active. 200+ if they're really active.

Thanks Krak.

How long do they take? If it's a month, that's one thing. If they're doing that in a week, that's something else.

And how much of that is spam?

Look ay some of yhe post counts for the last 5 games.

It depends game to game. Haven seen a month long game yet, mostly a week or two, three at the most.

As for spam, well, it depends on who's playing and how much everyone bitches - which has been happening a lot recently. My Marlfox game is ~180 pages and I'd say ~100 of that might be spam, maybe ~70-80 at the least.

I think we can be better this game.

I can sometimes reach up to 500-600 posts in a game. So I'm mostly saying that I'll be posting a lot less due to time constraints and so people don't get all moany. I personally don't feel like I spam, though. My amount of posting usually goes up when others do cause I keep replying and commenting.... and so on.

ie generally speaking, if the top poster has 150 posts, I'll prolly have 100. If the top poster has 900 posts, then I'll prolly have 600 :P

Another issue is that a lot of people seem to like Wombat's way of catching up... which is basically him quoting a post and commenting on it... and doing this over and over again with every post he comes across in separate posts... instead of quoting all the stuff he wants to answer to in one post with the multiquote function. I've seen Des and AJ adopting that method in one game....and it adds an insane amount of posts to the game too.... beyond the whole spam and tiffs between players. It's one thing if only Wombat does it but when you have 3-4 people doing it then it clutters the thread up. So if that can be kept to a minimum, that would be super.

And then there's Salami.... who just vomits one liners into games 24/7.  >.>

If it's a gigantic wall of text I'll usually think you're mafia trying to drown things out with sheer volume. Being concise is a beautiful thing.

I see. So, the last time I was really active on DM, we had a problem with lack of participation and too many people dropping out of games.

Now it sounds like you have the participation back, back maybe a little too much spam. And, that's easily solved by upholding Game Related Post policies. other than that, we could all hope that every game would run 500 pages because that would mean that it is teh awesome.

So why aren't we talking about GRP and "no fighting" rules? Seems like those cure all these ills, no?

This isn't just about you, Marcia.

No fighting rule needs to be accompanied by a no passive aggressive smarmy backhanded insults rule.

When I do ISOs, theyre proportional the a player's content volume. So it'll be longer the more they posted. But I always keep them to one post. I spoiler it. And I do a sum up paragraph for people who don't want to read the entire thing *shrugs*

Honestly, this is purely up to the mod. Ultimately, the mod is responsible for running the game top to bottom. It's the only way things can work.

If a mod is too weak to control their game, that's a mod problem. This does mean that modkills will need to be made. Repeat offenders will be banned from a certain number of games. If people are known trouble-makers, they can be invited to play the game on other sites. This will free up people to play and make the game more open, by eliminating the non-game problems.
