Alright so Berf is probably a villager.

Is he?

Berf - how caught up are you? A lot of what you wrote in that summary is either based on old early game information that was never corrected and thus wrong or a blatant misunderstanding/misrep of the current game state. I'm just trying to divine which.

Nonchalant, full of nonsense, but still in his villa range? What would you call it? Des on Valium?

This is Des Town as well. Plus, he was a hydra. Not sure how he could/would be read the same as a hydra and as an individual. There's a tenacity he has as scum that is missing here.

Also, he is being vilified for playing the game. I don't understand it. He isn't even in full Des tunnel mode yet, people.

LOL - he has ONLY tunneled me all game. That's his main contribution and posting point.

LOL - you think a wolf can just appear with 45 minutes left at EOD like that? Only a villager has that kind of bad timing. FACT. He was also really out of the loop on what was going on. WOULD A WOLF BE SO CONFUSED? YOU CAN'T EXPLAIN THAT.

Nope. ISO Des in ascending order.

He made his RVS vote on you for Des reasons. Didn't even really go after you.

Called a VERB post opportunistic and wolfy as hell.

Clearly trying to determine your alignment but you deflect in a typical Tommy way that is not at all alignment indicative.

Jackie Chan's Thane.

Talks about other reads including Me, Thane, and AJ in catch up.

Looking at Arsis.

Back to Verb.

A little questioning of Monstr's math logic and posturing

And that's page 1 of his ISO. Not even the BEGINNING of a tunnel yet. CLEARLY poking around at the slots that were posting at the time.

LOL - Des is an entity created with one sole purpose in mind: complete thread annihilation. To accomplish this task he must eliminate the highest threat to his cause -> Tommy the Thread Thumping Train.

He will stop at nothing to meet his ends. No logical fallacy will go unbesmirched, no reason shall prevail! For he has one mission and one mission only...

DERAIL THOMAS THE TRAIN TO CRASH THE THREAD!!!

Tommy it pleases me to see you adopt the nickname I gave you. Also good morning everyone

I'm late as crap to work right now :)

I was at a pumpkin carving party. Glad I was. I'm going to be firmly focused on this ridiculous Thane wagon. Which of course means Verb is probably scum. Berf's vote was also gross. Rags simply has terrible instincts and I think was sort of coerced into hammering.

This is my pumpkin. Seems appropriate now. wxZOFMms.jpg

Its true that I was on board for a Thane lynch.  I don't think being up front in that regard and especially being the one who prodded him first (first few pages of the game) would be a good spot for scum to be in.  If he was lynchbait, then I look especially bad for it.  Doesn't sound like a smart spot to put yourself in if you knew his alignment (if I was scum), right?

The ones that look super bad after lynchbait town flips are probably town.  The ones that nudged or controlled the flow towards that lynchbait.....those are the ones that require more scrutiny.  I really want Tom's slot resolved - I can't make up my mind on him.

Thane was EASILY the easiest person to read as town yesterday. Imma channel Salami for a sec and scold all of y'all for lynching him, cause MY GOD that was a terrible lynch.

Sometimes I just... I just don't even know. Friggin DM. Y'all just love ignoring me when I'm in my top tier game. Inb4 Doc saves Tommy tonight and scum kills me and steamrolls town in 2-3 days.

*cue dramatic eye roll*

I have only played with Thane a couple times, and I think I may have been scum in both of them.  Either way, I've never interacted with a town Thane like this before, so I didn't have prior experience to fall on.  He made some weird posts about setup spec, and then proceeded to just buddy the entire thread in what looked like an effort to drown out his prior issues.  Taken objectively and out of context -- that looked weird.  Now having seen his town game more closely, I feel like I'll be a little bit better and obtaining a good read on him next time.

I'm not willing to give people loads of time and not lynch them because they haven't contributed.

I'm taking the stance of Town!AJ from previous recent games. Punish the slankers. We can and have waited too long to lynch them and been swept for it in the past.

There's ~always scum in the slankers on DM.

Let's make them afraid of slanking.

This post is also hilarious in light of Tommy pushing a train on Thane, who was participating like CRAZY all game

See above - most of his posts were random buddying or silly comments about drinking.  Or peanut gallery-type posts.  Hopefully you can see why some of us were suspicious of him as a result.

Worst part is I'm an emotional mafia player AND I'm willing to AtE as scum, yet I still am willing to say other people recently take it way too far.

For God's sake people if DESPOT is telling you to cut the emo crap.... It has gone too far

I HOPE you'll be able to understand why people are irritated with you, but don't require it. You're an acquired taste after all. More to the point, I think mafia should be a positive place, and unfortunately I'm very high-strung right now, and am not the best character for the job. I will try my utmost to ignore the negative spots and aim for the brighter patches.

If this includes putting you on ignore because you do insult and browbeat other players, then this is probably a fair response for the objective betterment of krak's game. In short I am reacting to it more vehemently than I should and I will cut off the leg henceforth --- and hopefully sow it back on at a later time because I don't hold grudges well.

As to my current signups, I've unlisted because I need a break after this. Take a breather so to speak.

Methinks you'd have a few other players on ignore, then.  If you don't, then I'm taking this interaction as entirely fake from your end.

Other stuff:

I'm beginning to come around on Verb being a villager. I don't think the post he wrote about Wombat's opinion of him wouldn't be hard to make as a wolf but it did read pretty genuine for me. I also have Lates as one of my firmer green reads so I am content to roll with Leelou saying he's a villager at this point.

Rags is still null for me.

Pral potentially could be a wolf. Even if KeyFG are I wouldn't clear him over this. If they turn out to be villagers I would definitely move in this direction.

Berf looks pretty good after reading over his most recent posts. Hopefully he can keep the activity level up.

Alanna I have pretty close to blue at this point. That girl knows how to get my jimmies all kinds of excited

Despot I don't have a super firm read on yet. The aggression/tinfoil stuff is all within his wolf range so I'll continue to let it develop as things progress.

So, I'll do a buckle list to make Monstr happy.

Super villagery:

Lates

Alanna

Dice

Monstr

Probably/maybe villagers:

Verb

Berf

Tom

Despot

Null:

Rags

Sili

Maybe wolves:

Pral

KeyFG

Cory/Hallia

Pretty sure is a stinky wolf:

Arsis

I hate you.  I totally read you as blue for posts like this.  I would have taken a lynch for you, and you're not even town!  But damn, this posts was nice to read.  I have a blind spot in reading you, dammit.  I feel like I always think you're town. h8u for it.  But not really.

Perhaps then, consider engaging me in discussion or listening to others who know me better.

This seems to me a very reasonable expectation.

But what if you don't trust the others that know you better?  How then to approach it?

Just waiting til tomorrow Tommy :)

Get some rest - I think you're going to take some heat tomorrow for your partner's posts.

Posted

I may or may not have things to combat said heat

Also yeah. Thane's game this go around was so different! He was engaging, very active for him. Not sure how that train formed. I do wonder that the other trains forming gained no traction, but his did.

Also, @ Berf - you haven't played in a lonnnnnng time, I don't remember your play style.

What was the point of that, Tommy? You claim Des is just here to tunnel. I show you his ISO which illustrates he didn't tunnel. But you are back to claiming he is tunneling and make inflammatory posts like the one above? How do you think that post is supposed to help you? I mean, you realize you are instigating a crap storm, right?

This is why I'm still leaning Tom!scum, for what it's worth. This is clearly not play designed to make the game better, to determine alignment, or to make yourself easier to read. It's gross and I hate it, personally. If I had a gun I'd shoot you tonight and let the chips fall where they may.

I'm going to die tonight so I have free reign.

And honestly I'm just over him. I don't think I'll play with him anymore.

Do you even remember making this post anymore?

Des is pretty obnoxiously town telling in this game if anyone is wondering

Posted

I didn't remember it until I saw it in ISO and it made me chuckle because... man.  You are bent out of shape.

It's just been a long and tortuous road man. Imagine if Darthe went #fulldarthe on you every single game but was a jerk about it. That's what it's like for me.

And you know what it was a BEAUTIFUL song and possibly my mafia game magnum opus. Genius is often not recognized during its lifetime. I suppose I can't fault you for that; you are only human.

LOL - It took me a while to figure Des out. I used to be his #1 favorite target for like 4 or 5 games in a row. But he isn't getting personal. He isn't calling you names. He's seeing how you react to his special brand of inquisition. And you are folding like a card table. I don't always agree with Des but just because you don't agree doesn't make him terrible or a jerk or bad at the game or any of that. I didn't see you getting worked up about Arsis. And Arsis was LEGIT trolling you! lol
Posted

I don't have the same history with Arsis -- last time he got mad at ME. He doesn't make me mad because I understand him better. I also thought he was scum for most of the trolling.

But Des I knew was town. It's no different than Blackhoof's Cthulu game where he drove me down into the ground over and over after that Cory MK moment. I knew Des was town and tried reasoning with him but every single thing I did became a scum tell to him until it was to the point where I didn't even care and just got lynched.

I don't think it's a good trait to have to not know when someone is town telling so transparently that you need to stop pushing them. I could tell immediately that Berf was likely to be a villager last night but I don't think Des would have been able to do that. Or maybe he would have just pretended he didn't. I don't know. Whatever it is, the fake confidence is really tiring, especially when it's completely one sided and I have no reason to push back. I can't argue with crazy.

It's one thing to be wrong -- everyone is wrong sometimes. Or even often. You're gonna be wrong every game.

But it's another thing to be aggressively and unforgivingly wrong. That just sucks.
