If I had just randomly pointed to...say...Alanna or Pral...somebody I DIDN'T have some insight into their mindset, you'd be absolutely right.  But you already conceded that I should have known how she was feeling.  Why would I NOT attempt to use that?

 

 

Observing her play and general state of mind was kind of the key to find if her tone was frustrated or calm. Leaning in on her with a random vote could annoy Lee as either alignment. The point is that you don't have that much experience with her. Certainly not enough to try this sort of thing, however lame I think it is. I would have expected you to stick to your strengths with players you're more familiar with.

At the end of the day what you did with TG makes sense because you were looking for a pattern. Here you were like... if I poke her and she explodes she's scum. If she reacts calmly and playfully she's town. Well, there are townie that emo and overreact and there are scum that play it cool and get playful. The fact of the matter is you don't even know how Leelou plays as a townie... so this whole gambit DOESN'T MAKE SENSE.

I think Clov's explanation about the pre-game discussion is plausible.

 

Nyn you make good points too about how Leelou could get pissed as either alignment. I think that makes the gambit more dumb than scummy imo

I'm getting the sense Hallia or Salami is gonna end up being the consensus lynch at EOD if I don't throw my weight around. And they could be scum, but I'm not satisfied with ~everyone having the same reads 1 day into the game.

Can't say that I'm amazed with how Hallia defends herself with "it's a waste of time" etc though

 

Csarmi I need to wrap my head around more. I think he has a tendency to overestimate how villagery he is so that could explain why he got so butt hurt. I've also only seen him do stuff like that as town. What worries me is it's kind of become site meta that the AtE and self vote tends to get people cleared. I wouldn't put it past him to pull something slimy like that if he's actually a wolf in this situation.

That's my same internal thought process on Salami. After the last game I told Nyn Salami's huge scumtell was the fact that he didn't get emotional even once despite the game being the third biggest emofest on DM.

 

Wombat claiming Salami doesn't get emotional as town kind of blew my mind.

How were his early posts GOOD? His early posts were some of his sketchiest. Because he had a mostly consistent narrative? He's not an inexperienced player; he's regarded as one of the better scummers around DM, self consistency is expected. What's lacking is the... panache.

 

 

Sili/Thane - 

 

 

 

 

Scum leans on Thane and Sili so far. Don't totally like either Salami or Tommy, but still within null range.

Why? To everything.

 

 

Sili's OP felt like a forced casual post from an experienced player.  The joke about only scum claiming town and then saying he had wanted to be scum but rolled town with the eyeroll added in.

 

Thane for some of the tone things that Des seems to have seen.

 

As for you and Salami, I didn't like your hedge on Thane where you said that you might back off if others piled on.  Salami calling w/w on Des/Thane felt a bit chainsawish to me.

 

 

Based on this, your claim makes no sense.  If he had "a weak hunch" on Sili, he had nothing on Thane.  "Some tone things" is a hell of a lot more vague than his reasoning on Sili, so I have no issue with him voting there.

 

Now on your sponging thing...again, I side with him on his explanation.  He didn't say he was suspicious of Thane BECAUSE Des saw them.  He noted that Des was picking up on them.  It could be sponging, but the way it was written backs up Wombat's retort.

I'm not sure which of his statements you're addressing here.  If it's the slanking thing, okay, I can see why you think it doesn't look good but I didn't put too much stock into it.  If you're talking about his later post, he's absolutely right.  The phase is 72 hours, and we were in 12 hours in when he said you shouldn't be expecting much.  Seriously, what major events had happened 10 pages in?

Because you couldnt find a better example, a more apt deacription of my town game than those there. Go ahead and do some reaearch if hou will... Or take my word for it... Or ask some people who havs a good grasp on my play, quite a few of them here.

We should if they're unrealistic.  I'm one of the biggest proponents of jumping right in with serious play on D1, but you expecting me to have ironclad cases on my first reads of the game is ludicrous.

This is really about the most valid gripe to have with Wombat, IMO, but it's still not much.  Wombat didn't blow off anything you said.  You asked him a direct question, he gave a reasonable answer.  If you don't like that he didn't write a novel 12 hours into the game off a question that's ultimately meaningless to solving the game...

This is Sili's fourth or fifth game ever. I can see him evolving rapidly, but he's not experienced.

Four or five could be enough depending on how quick of a study he is.  I'll take that into consideration though.  More posts from Sili will eventually help too.

In a game thick with meta knowledge, Wombat is still voting the one player he dosn't have meta with for what are essentially someone else's meta reasons. I hate that.

So I'm failing to see why you (or anyone else) is easily convinced he's a villager.

Yes, this. When I was scum with Wombat he made lots of one-two posts with semi-useless quotes and retorts, and when he was doing his catchup sequence here I kept thinking "where's he going with this?" like he started 5 paths and didn't walk down any of them.
