[Advanced] Blackhoof's Cthulhu Mythos Mafia Game- Day 1

Tsuki admits to being off focus and less interested since game began due to family that I don't normally get a chance to see are here.

 

Tsuki is scummy as hell by nature, and has never been vetted or cleared without a stupid amount of work - so, yeah, I howl. Bring it.

 

Tsuki was not targeting Dawn, anymore than I always do. Perhaps if she gets used to a little bit of early pressure (not even a case, just pressure (kinda like a joke vote, in my book)), she'll be less likely to bail, or to jump on this emotrain that I see is getting popular around DM... ugh. Sign up then threaten a quit before 36 hours are up - gross. But, whatever.

 

Appointments to be kept, shall return in 2-3 hours.

Don't think anyone disagrees with the bold. Just a bit unwarranted at this point in the game.

At which point would it be warranted? Early, when she should know it is good-natured ribbing, and that any case has to be BS, or later when the game has gotten much more serious, and any case I made would be full-on bird-doggin'?? Let her ride training wheels for a bit.

Not just you. Thane has apparently decided it is a good idea to go all emo, and self-hammer as a mafia symp because he was being picked on. I've noticed a LOT of AtE play since my return - and I find the STYLE gross, and see it as counter to how I have seen you play in previous games... Not sure where it comes from, honestly, but I know people can let RL bleed into interweb stuff - I've done it before, so... the problem is it appears it has become a "viable" tactic, and it is not one I enjoy.

Inexplicably, the entire house seemed to darken, causing the searchers to pause their hunt for the cultists among them. A scream echoed through the halls, and the guests cast a frantic glance towards a clock hanging on the wall, identical to the one in the table. The hand had not yet reached the blood mark.

 

Racing through the twisted, labyrinthine mansion, they rounded a corner and found a man huddled in the corner, gibbering in terror. They approached him, and saw no visible wounds. "What happened?" Asked one investigator. "Why did you scream?" But the man merely kept whispering and muttering to himself. The only words the investigators could make out were "the Yellow Sign.... King in Yellow... The Unnameable One...."

I'm just honest

 

When I "emorage" I usually go head to head with someone viscerally to see their comfort level in taking the game out of the game - I have pretty much refused to do that here because I don't want to ruin the game akin to HHGG

 

If I were to MK myself it would be to remove a distraction from the game because it was decided I'd have zero clout this game anyway, plus it gives you an opportunity to lynch scum

 

There are zero hard feelings involved - doing what I think best for town is what I am going to do

@Cory: I RULLY wish you wouldn't make it seem like the only reason people ever fos or suspect you here is because of your playstyle. I understand there's a decent chance you're just trying to AtE here to get pressure off yourself, but if you actually are town would you please quit that? Imo, you had one game that you took the emotional cliff thing a bit too far, made the game less fun for people, OKAY. It turns out, you were actually playing towards your wincon, so while I personally don't favor that kind of tactic (going that far in that tactic I should say), THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH ACTUALLY USING IT. Mafia is mafia, and AtE is just a freaking part of it. It annoys a lot of people, but meh, it's also fairly effective at times (I know, I've used it before myself).

 

So it's not that no one here likes your playstyle, it's that you might have gone too far into a tactic ONCE. Learn from it, mebbe measure it a bit shorter next time, and move on.

 

Fact is, I know plenty of people who really enjoy your playstyle, and I think you've been one of the main forces that have made games entertaining many times because you are so active. So you aint leaving anytime soon, I'm not letting you. I suck on other sites, and you're my pal. Whether or not you're scum, I frankly don't want to see you lynched yet. If that gets me into a crapload of heat at some point, so be it.

I am totes LOCK CLEARING Lenlofinger. His catchup had a big time ramble run on sentence factor going for it which imo made it look crazy genuine. He also swayed me a bit on Dap (altho I still think Darthe is town and his reads list wasn't crap).

 

Don't have anything on Tommy yet as it would be moar associative than anything. For now lemme see who all is ninjaing me.

AtE HAS ALWAYS BEEN A VIABLE TACTIC

 

Emotions often run rampant in mafia games- this is just something that happens. Some are more sensitive than others, and frankly, it is easy to get emotional if you're telling the truth but everyone thinks you're lying. I mean holy freak, THIS GAME WAS CREATED BY PSYCHOLOGISTS WHO THOUGHT OF THIS EXACT SCENARIO. Playing paranoia against others, etc.

 

If you're scum in this game, your job is to lie. If that means lying about having an emotional reaction to something, IT IS NOT SOME EFFED UP TACTIC.

 

Do I think AtE is annoying? Hell yes. You know the main reason? It's effective. If done well, it's hard to tell if an emo reaction is genuine or faked. More than that, if you end up believing it, but find out it's faked- you feel like you've been betrayed, like someone used your own sympathy against you.

 

Again tho- THAT IS SCUM'S JOB.

 

So personally, while I find AtE JUST as annoying as the next person, I also think all the people that act all exasperated about it and act like it's some new thing that's lame and they shouldn't play anymore are just well, prob weren't cut out for mafia in the first place. If you can't deal with being emotionally manipulated, you SHOULDN'T BE PLAYING THIS GAME.

Cory, I don't wanna see any more "I'm leaving this site, no one likes me or my playstyle" posts from you. If you wanna AtE, that's fine. Just don't threaten to leave the site altogether as that is, imo, going to far. If your enjoyment on this site really is getting low, well then, you can always take a break. I've done it many times. Des utilize your empathy skills for a second: I entered this game with my usual villager enthusiasm and had five people incorrectly state "this is a scummy intro" and the Tommy incorrectly said it was my scum meta

 

I tried to defend myself with meta and was told it is scummy to defend yourself with meta

 

I do not have enough info to make a big deal of confident pushes yet - game remains unsolved

If you're town, then ignoring all the haters and just trying your damndest to give the best reads you can in case you ARE lynched. For now at least.

 

If you're scum, then I dunno... making 1800 paper machie pandas that represent all the tears you have left after this game, and trying to distract town with cuteness? The emo thing def won't get you out of a lynch imo
