I get the whole "I'm right! You're wrong!" thing, sort of, but I don't really know if I'm right - I'm just doing what I can. I don't think I'm better than you, but you are going out of your way to A) assert your correctness (and let's be honest, both of us are wrong all the time - some absurdly high accuracy % isn't what makes us good Mafia players) and B) let people know that if I'm wrong that's a bad sign for me

But you have run out of "snipe without pushing" type comments about me and now you're lynching one of my villagers for something it seems is little more than spite.

 

And you say things like "DON'T TRUST CORY IF [X]" when you're making it very clear you don't think people should trust me NOW.

Alright well if you wanna thunderdome, that's fine with me. I won't back down, especially not when you always say youll never try to lynch me or Tom D1 cause were too valuable if town and yet now think no one else should be lynched besides us two, which I think is incredibly

 

Look at it from my perspective Cory. There's been three people that I can recall easily you being challenged about after townreading them. In each case, you grew irritated and confrontational about saying WHY they seemed town, which doesn't make sense at all to me since that's how the game is played. You talk about your reads. Each one specifically tho is a bit strange-

 

Leelou- you cleared her faster than anyone besides Tina. A few took exception to this, and later challenged you on it. You said she was trying to figure things out. When challenged on THAT, you quoted her response to the vig question from Clov. But that post (iirc) came AFTER you had already "cleared" her. Strike 1.

 

AJ- you cleared him fast, altho a couple of people found him questionable early on. When Verb challenged you on this read, you were a little sensitive and prickly about it. AJ later started posting stuff that made him look a bit more likely to be town, but again this came after you cleared him early on. Strike 2.

 

Thane- I think you have the least reason to "clear" this guy. His OP was pretty standard for a newer player, it could have easily come from town!Thane or scum!Thane. Yet you maintain that it was pretty much the towniest OP in the game. You say his reads list had no agenda... but that doesn't make him town. A newer player prob won't try executing any convoluted agenda, he's prob just gonna try and fit in with consensus reads. Lastly you are completely ignoring his vote on Dice, which was just horribad. Again, I'm not the only person who finds Thane questionable, yet when I challenge you on it in a joking manner, you go off your rocker. Strike 3.

 

So you struck out on the "being challenged about reads" thing, either clearing people BEFORE you saw stuff that could have cleared them, or getting prickly cause other people want to see your reasoning on the read.

 

Now, your tone is good, but then I recently learned that you can fake your tone very easily as scum (for quite a while you had me believing that it wouldn't be easy for you to fake the tone, that your game in ASR or w/e on VS was indicative of your normal scum game)

 

Lastly, the way you've handled me. I feel I entered this game pretty much like I enter any game, yet you've acted wary of me from the start, always soft-pushing and using non-committal language to describe your opinion of me. Normally you have no problem being able to clear me pretty easily from the start.

 

Plus, while you've been hella active, I haven't seen you put in the typical amount of #work for a town!Cory game. You haven't gone quote hunting to back up or flesh out any reads of yours, unless someone else references it, you haven't reinforced your clears or POE like you normally would, and instead of being both reactionary AND proactive like I'm used to seeing, you've mainly just been reactionary this game.

 

I also don't think we agree on 85% of the thread, and even if some of our town reads align, it doesn't mean much since it would be fairly easy to fake reads on consensus townies. I know I haven't agreed with your scum list at the times you've posted it.

Cory you seem offended that people would question your reads. Despo you seem offended that Cory doesn't want to clear you. This looks like two cases of conf-bias from both of you.

 

For the record I can agree with Despo on Thane's vote for Dice. I called him on having Dice as a scum read but not voting him and he gave an explanation I didn't find extremely satisfactory and soon after threw his vote down. It does look bad.

 

I also agree that Hallia doesn't look great here. Unfortunately her meta is already established as being a lurker so it's more a null tell IMO. I wouldn't be against a lynch wagon on her though.

 

Pral looks scummy to me for reasons I have already stated but I am hesitant on this read because of RTE's sudden interest.

 

Looking back I found his vote on Dice not to be very good. I am interested to see his response to the question I posed for him earlier.

 

Verb bugs me but I admit that it mostly gut. He seems vastly different then what I remember him as and I think a lot of the discussion he has been involved in doesn't really lead in any particular direction. His handling of BFG also feels off. She doesn't exactly strike me as ubertown either.

 

Nyn bugs me from an attitude standpoint. She reads very abrasive and I find the way she pushed Dice to be pretty scummy. Using his time here on DM as an indicator of his alignment for something I don't think is particularly common knowledge looks bad. I also dislike the way she changed the foundation of her argument against him. Implying he was lying about being active while also buying his claim doesn't seem like congruent thought process to me.

 

Out of those I think we should lynch today. I would like to hear others' opinion on it though.

Thane replies with the all too common "I wanted to give him one last chance to defend himself" line that scum use all the time, to make it look like they're being reasonable and are being somewhat of an advocate for the accused, when really they're setting them up to ensure they're lynched. Thane nudges Dice with the last bit, trying to parrot the concept that Dice was scummier for not responding sooner

So obviously he didn't care whatsoever for what Dice might say in his defense. If he did, he would have just headed to bed and waited to see if Dice said something in the morning. After all, Thane himself pointed out that the deadline was still a ways off, so adding an extra vote there really accomplished nothing except increase the chances that Dice would be lynched. Thane even knows Dice if I'm not mistaken, from the BotRH, so him stressing that Dice looks scummy cause of lurking seems even odder.

Right now I'm operating under the assumption that Dice is town. The train built up on him way too easily, with pretty much no one coming to his defense, and without any other meaningful countertrain, and while he claimed a PR that could be scum, he still will have to give town some kind of info which will either lead to his or his teammate's demise if he is scum, or vindicate himself if he is town.

 

So, the sudden rush of bandwagon votes on Dice likely contains a scummer or two. I would def bet Thane is one of those scummers, for his unbelievably scummy vote on Dice.

Fwiw AJ you look LOCK CLEAR now to me. I disagree with your suspicions on Verb and Nyn, but generally agree elsewhere.

 

You still gotta quit mis-using the conf-bias term lol. You use it to mean essentially OMGUS, when it's really when you come to any conclusion and then only see things that support that conclusion. Doesn't matter whether or not your scumread suspects you. Conf-bias is essentially tunnelvision.

 

And yes, Cory being unwilling to clear me does seem a little peculiar, but not worth fos'ing him for. His clearing of people before they should have been cleared, getting antsy about explaining his reads, and hedging his bets irt his read on me, all make it difficult for me to trust him this game. I don't really think he's the scummiest candidate today however, and if town he IS a great asset.

I haven't been following the playoffs recently since I have been more focused on these last few weeks of school but now that's over with so I'll have more time to enjoy it.

On a more serious note - Verb is mostly gut. I can agree with some of his points from an objective standpoint but experienced mafia players can also speak objectively so I wouldn't clear him on this alone. He just seems TOO reasonable for my liking. I could also just be tin foiling a bit too soon.

 

Nyn might just be her attitude. I don't have a ton of experience with her but I'm not a fan of her recent push on Dice who I am also going to assume is town atm.

 

What does SOC mean btw?
