Okay yeah Pray using meta to townread Basel is really strange. Just got to that. Pray is still a relative newblood to the DM mafia scene, and Basel hasn't played a ton lately. Furthermore, Pray says Basel "goes without abandon" when he is town.... Basel was not "going without abandon" early in the thread, most of his posts were fluff up to that point.

 

So yeah, something seems strange there to me as well.

If anyone is wondering "why, Tommy? How can you be so sure that Darthe is scum?"

Well, curious listener, it's something about his tone in these posts... the phrasing is odd, and I wouldn't expect him to be so snarky with me right off the bat. We love each other. It's a bromance like 73% Cory in magnitude, and that's only because he's younger and not yet emotionally mature enough to be on my level.

The "hmm" sticks out to me in an awkward manner, and the question about me really being town makes me think he already knows I'm town and is trying to be lighthearted about his scurrilous accusations in a way that won't get my goat. But it did. It does. My lawnmower is about to go into full orbit.

 

 

I don't have much to say on this post, it becomes relevant very soon.

Basel starts of the game with a joke vote on Tommy... And it takes him a very, very long time to change it, if I don't remember too wrongly. More a memo to myself than anything else.

 

 

I took it as more serious on his part, particularly the post where he tried to take apart my phrasing etc, but perhaps that was a dig at how I make mountains out of molehills like that at times.

This stuck out to me, because I've noted before that Darthe seems to have a habit this game of subltly discrediting everyone making points against him. Although Tommy agrees afterwards that is was a little dig/homage to Des, Darthe couldn't know this as we know now Tommy was town (aka he could only have known for sure if they were mafia together, wich we know they weren't). So to me this reads like "oops, got a player on my tail, better brush of their case ASAP".

 

 

 

I'm already pushing people to not auto-clear you like normal.  You're making a lot of posts to make everyone *like* you which transfers to clearing you really quickly, especially for people who aren't as experienced.  

 

Does it bother you that I am hesitant to give you a town-clear and am intruding on that tommy?

 

This also bothered me, he's talking to Tommy here. He's completly ignoring Nyn in this. He's saying he doesn't want town auto-clearing Tommy... But doesn't mention the fact that there is another player sharing his slot that will make it easier for people to read it. Not liking Darthe at all so far.

I noticed this pattern of Tommy's play in the Heir to the Empire game. And he was scum then.

 

 

This is Basel's second game related post (he had a meme-post inbetween this and the last one). His first vote on Tommy seemed like a joke vote. And now he's nudging Tommy as scum (yes, nudging, because he doesn't say outright that Tommy is scum here.)

 

 

Town or no, tommy does get conversation going, which is crucial.

 

Bit meh that this is the next post from Hallia. Both the not giving any sort of direct comment at all, and also because like I said this came almost twleve hours after her "I am here"-post. That was all she found to comment on?

And then he comes dragging this up that's at least 5 pages back. His post up on the top here shows he was caught up in the game... And then he comes here and drags up an old post. A post that is a null tell at most. Don't like this one bit. Basel on the scum list.

 

Basel goes without abandon when he is town. And, I feel he is trying to do the same here. He continues with this thought even in the later posts when dealing with Tommy. He usually gets lynched D1 when he is town :)

I don't know why this #alliance thing gets brought up again and again. I have seen their games and althought they act all buddy with each other D1, they usually get against once the game progresses. Just a distraction talk.

That said, I have barely seen Tommy as town. That too in one game which did not have Cory or others. So, nearly impossible to determine his alignment just on a few pages in D1.


Did not see any change in your style of posting IN the game you were mentored on. Why would it suddenly change here?

Not really getting good vibes on this early show of frustration by Cory. It is too early to get frustrated and because of that it seems fake - as if trying to get some town cred. Also, putting a bit of fear on newer players that they might mess up.

Basil eh. I reread his posts in the game thus far.

He shows up and votes Tommy, saying he's always scum and makes a joke about the lawnmower gif that tommy posted. Comes off like a joke vote so null. Then he posts a gif mocking memes. Later it gets interesting when he seconds Darthe and mentions that he's noticed the pattern of tommy's play on a different mafia game and states that he was scum there. Joke vote doesn't seem that jokey anymore. perhaps? It would be interesting to know if he ever played with tommy before when tommy was town. If he hasn't and therefore does not know how he plays as a townie, then his point here is completely moot. Because he has no point of comparison.
 

Nyn, you don't play as much. So I'm going to guess you've never made a joke vote and then wound up actually feeling a real case on the person you're joke voting. This isn't even the first time this has happened to me. And I've never played with Tommy at all, just modded him once. But I've read through enough of his games to feel that his play here matches his scum meta.

 

 

This seems too convenient... Basel is just talking general, not saying exactly what about Tommy is scummy. Doesn't even say what is the difference between Tommy's scum and town meta. It all feels like a too convenient and easy push on Tommy, a player that as town is a big threat to the mafia. Considering how many players come straight from the red wedding mafia where Tommy trolled town to victory, it feels like Basel is going after an easy target here.

 

Heads up I'm trimming down some of the longer quotes to show the part I'm commenting on. (Otherwise it can get confusing). Looking back at Amega's posts some things stood out to me.

 

Here he mentions he's unsure of Tommy and Dawthe. Nothing stands out about that just making an observation here.

 

Blue: Gives advice on how Cory should be playing and now is fence sitting on Tommy.

Blue: Questions Tommy against Darthe. This I found interesting. Does that mean he now is back to suspecting Tommy? Almost seems like he's sticking up for Darthe here. My main point on this is that he is suspicious of Tommy, fence sits, and goes back to being suspicious. More on that later...

 

 

 

Now he directs his attention to Cory. I don't understand the bolded part though. He says Cory/me messed up and he hit a nerve there. 

 

 

Back to fence sitting on Tommy.

 

Blue: kTells Darthe to let his play speak for himself, not tell people he's cleared.

 

Not sure how he feels about Craylee atm, started off saying how Cory should play, riles him, now...?

Green: Agrees with Tommy about Mish. So he now trust Tommy? I'm confused.

I still feel this is an extremely valid case on Amega. I have a strong town feel on Kaylee and Cory.

 

 

Kaylee is back to doing that IIOA thing she does as scum.

 

And here's what I've pointed out before... Kaylee posts a case, and Darthe immediatly (indirectly) calls her mafia. Discrediting and nudging.

Amega - slight scum, mainly for the taunting post he made at you and for his really spastic manner of overstating everything.  The reason this is slight is because I recently mentored him and watched him do this as town, albeit in a slightly more concise manner.

Lenlo? hasn't been around.  starting to see a trend.  His one significant post was meh.

Hally I can't recall either.  I feel like she has posted but hasn't contributed.  Prob town since that is her MO but I am not willing to clear her yet.

Laya looks a bit better, I recall him contributing meaningfully.  Gut impression, mind you.  I've not actually went back through

Nommy I like this game.  Pressured you right off the bat to see if I could get an atypical opening from you and I got what I wanted from it.

Basel I am a fan of here.  His posts, when made, look like town basel based on my quite good meta of him.  Unfortunately that meta is counter-intuitive to what constitutes good scumhunting.

 

This list uses alot of words to say veyr little concise things. The "solid" reads he has (amega, basel) has disclaimers about how those reads can be wrong. Also discrediting Len's post on Amega.

Darthe and Nyn has gone back and forth a while here... And again I feel like this is discrediting. Calling her oddly aggresive insinuates that her points shoudln't be listened too because she's making emotional and not logical assumpsions.

 

@kaylee if you go through and read the thread in context you will answer most of the problems with your ##fullrainbow post. 

 

Also constructive criticism and telling a player what they can say along with references that they are not a good player are different things. He should expect some grief. I will say what i want whenever i want to who ever i want..

Watching this argument without being directly involved in it, I'm noticing Darthe seems to prefer responding when he feels he's got something to say that makes him look good. That's troubling. Town behavior is generally to speak when thoughts come to you, without excessive concern for how they may be interpreted.

I'm not sure what utility you think you're providing to town right now, Darthe. You're disconnected from the thread, missed important (IMO) interactions like the movement on and off of Mish, and are hedging on most of the players in this game.

I have a pretty good feeling coming off of Nyn from this exchange.  Between Darthe worrying about how Dawn will appear and this, I'm leaning scum on him.

Did a quick ISO on Darthe's posts. His play has been almost all reactive, very little proactive. Almost all his posts are responses to others people's thoughts on him or other players. I wouldn't call that incredibly investigative. Also, insinuates that people are suspecting him because they just don't like his playstyle.

Why do you think Hallia is MORE active as scum?

All games that I have checked. In only ONE of them did Hallia's count break 40 - The House game, with 56. That is also the only game in the list where she is scum.

 

 

Hally was also scum in the Heir to the Empire game. However, her post count is lower for that one than I think it would be otherwise, because she came in as a replacement for AJ.

A quick read on Darthe. I think he is town. I can't find holes in his argument, and he owned up to his accidental misquoting of Mish rather than pushing the issue and continuing to misrepresent her, while I think scum would have done the latter.

 

This is so general and unspecific you can get it. He basically doesn't say a thing. 99% Basel/Darthe is scumscum.

A quick read on Darthe. I think he is town. I can't find holes in his argument, and he owned up to his accidental misquoting of Mish rather than pushing the issue and continuing to misrepresent her, while I think scum would have done the latter.

The problem I have with statements like this is you don't specify what argument you're referring to and you are wiping a lot off the whiteboard by saying "he would continue to lie about Mish if he was scum so he's town." Nyn is right that correcting a blatantly wrong statement is null and would be terribly stupid for scum to push since it's flat out wrong and would make him look worse.

So you give Darthe a gold star for... literally one reason, and not even a good reason.

If you think Mish is scum, please make a real case on her that makes sense besides that she thinks you are Mafia - she makes sense to me and has WIM

My reasons for thinking you are town are almost 99% emotive since I can't follow you logically and I will admit I have read people wrong emotionally before

I would prefer not to lynch EITHER of you today. I'm on page 42 currently with a glass of wine and I'm almost entirely sure I POE'd this game successfully Day 1. I don't see anything all that different. I have an idea of what Des will see if he's town (and I'm going to treat him like it's Day 1 since he just entered the game anyway so basically expect me to white-knight the hell out him) and hopefully I can do what I failed to do in Day 1 and that's hardclear some villabr0s to make this easy when I die
