Also, because it is VERY relevant to this thread, I'll be going to New Orleans next month.  Unfortunately it'll be the week after Mardi Gras, but I'll be hoping for some leftover...er....yeah...

Dear fellow maffia playerz.

 

Memes are fun.

 

GIFs are le sux but I understand alot of players do enjoy them.

 

However. Unfortunately, most of them are just not optimized for size at all. I saw several of them with size over 3 megabytes.

 

Not sure about you guys. I'm pretty sure it's not a problem for several of you, but in Hungary, we got a guaranteed net speed of a couple of megabits only on our 3G. It's usually much slower, actually, not to mention the fact that data plans that give you GB-range monthly net quota are expensive.

 

Before this whole GIF and meme period came, I had no trouble playing at all from my phone, but since that happened, I had to buy an exra 1GB of 3G and even that doesn't help when you get several GIF's on page cause the pages just take seconds to minutes to load if they ever do.

 

TL;DR

 

Please spoiler your GIFs. They hurt the mobile users.

 

Getting back to the topic at hand... after the D1 debacle in Heir to the Empire which led to one player quitting immediately and undoubtedly inspired this thread, I've been pondering a new addition to my standard game rules:

 

Do not engage in actions which would impair the ability of others to view the game thread.

 

There might be another sentence or two expounding upon this I have yet to figure out the exact wording for the rest of the rule.

I don't think a rule needs to be made.  If it starts getting bad in a game, the mod can warn the players.  Problem solved.

The bolded part should be an unspoken rule. Actually, I'm pretty sure there are no players around here who would do that on purpose.

For instance, I'm sure no one in the Thrawn Game wanted to do that. They just didn't realize it would.

 

My purpose in creating this thread was to get some attention on this so that people would realize how this might be a problem for some players.

 

It might be a good idea to add this to the newbie thread maybe?
