Neither him nor Golden.

Least I remember Golden commenting on me. Asking about my claim and such. AJ I just forgot completely.

We've got a bunch of players that just don't seem to care or are too busy to contribute. It's lame.

Tom, how do you catch a Cory!scum?

He's hard to read. I usually look for mindmelding. If we disagree on too many things, he could be scum.

He's usually like this, yes. I associate him trolling around with his town game. In the past as scum he tended to be very aggressive and try to be town leader. I expect he is still making reads here, it's just mostly tone based and he doesn't have to do any work since I'm already doing it. Usually if he sees things I don't he will point it out. We work well together and are used to lynching scum on D1. I would fully expect him to just mail it in until Nolder/X flips scum. Basically: this game is too easy so far for him to have to try.

Kronos will you talk to us? What do you think about Tom, Cory and Sickpuppets? Just impressions please.

I'm kinda at work - I can't always respond much during the day.

To be honest - as I've said before, I find them confusing - they play very differently than anyone I've played with before.

Do they sound like they're trying to find scum?

When they weren't gifing yeah.

Now we're getting somewhere.

What do oyu think about Despo? How do you think we should judge his play?

Null on despo - always hard to read for me - he plays similarly both ways.

Salami, are you currently experiencing Des based paranoia?

Not really. But I tend to have a hard time reading him usually. Interested in what Kronos is thinking, he might just have a unique point of view.

Well apparently not. Kronos, how do you usually go about judging people's scumminess?

To be honest, mostly instinct.  It is still hard for me to separate my thoughts on people - I can sometimes find inconsistencies that I can pull out and that will help, but still learning how to do that.

People will probably bring up that I've been in a lot of games and blah blah blah, but my mental stability for a long time was very questionable and I don't remember a lot of what happened.

Same question for you.

I go with my instinct most of the time. I've been playing quite a lot lately and sometimes I do realize why I have iffy feelings about someone (comes with experience I guess). Those points can be identified most of the time. It's just the question of how hard you have to look.

I also use some tools like re-reading, some ways to look for inconsistencies on people's play, etc.

There are some basic principles for finding maffia that often hold true as well. This is a game of information. Maffia will try to keep information low (or at least add a lot of noise on it).

I usually look for people who try to minimize information. People who are defending instead of attacking. That sort of thing.

Also, what I found is that D1 interactions are often goldmines in a game later. I'm only really proud of my scumhunting in one game (Talya had some Stargate game in the BT) where I managed to nail almost the entire maffia party on D4 or so just based on re-reading D1.

Kronos, the bottom line is: most of the people have no idea what they're doing some of the time. Some of the people have no idea what they're doing most of the time.

And EVERYONE (well, every player of the uninformed majority) is wrong most of the time. Don't be afraid to be wrong.

Yes.  I mentioned already I didn't like how he had time to read the thread enough to know to make teh "sup" joke but not enough to comment on anything else that happened.

Whoops. I r tired.

Unvote, Vote Xthrax

Btw off for the next few days. Goin to Charlotte Sat night to see my Spurs!

I hope they lose.

I'm waiting for more solid contribution from cory beyond the Nol stuff.  I'm wary of scum who hide in plain site by posting without really adding anything/scum hunting.  Cory, any reads to add to the game besides on Nol?

Motive and toan are probably the best two ways to scumhunt imho

MOTIVE Analyze thought process - are the players suspecting people for the right reasons? Do they trust people for the right reasons? Do they follow up on reads? Townies should care about trying to solve the game as opposed to Maf who are simply trying to survive.

If you legitimately cannot follow a player's line of thought or think they are A) not commenting on important thread events or B) are avoiding certain players altogether, that's a flag. Analyze a player's agenda. Is there existence in the thread primarily to attack/defend another player. If so, why? How are they interacting? What is their purpose for interacting? When do they come into the thread? What is the focus of their overall content?

Townies aren't necessarily consistent - they can be hypocritical and flighty and paranoid. That's okay as long as there is reason in the thread for them to do so.

Tone is an offshoot if instinct and is primarily based of a poster's content feels natural or forced. A lot of player scream town simply because of how loose they are - tone is more useful for outing novice players as very good players can fake this. Interactions are key here, too, as well as they way they phrase their thoughts.

You're my third major scumread, TG. That's a contribution. It does hinge on my Tina read, though, so maybe you're LOCK CLEAR. But prolly not.

Tommy, what do you think of Golden overall? Been rocking chair on him.
