n my experience, scum Des is a tad more careful than town Des, naturally because as mafia he's more concerned with staying alive. Town Des doesn't care what his actions will make him look like. So him placing a vote without thinking about how many players it takes to lynch (at least that's how I saw it as) is more in tune with how I'll see town Des. Also, town Des always suspects me to be mafia  so it doesn't suprise me he skimmed my posts when trying to apply pressure. I get more the feel that he's trying to test me now than anything else. I don't know how to explain better; with Des it's alot of gut read from me. He's reckless here and don't care how he looks, and that' makes me lean town. Doesn't mean I won't point out where he's wrong

I'm more supocious of Cloud for his parroting, and Hallia for the L-1 vote without even waiting to let me get online; seems like mafia in a hurry.

Hallia's vote caught my eye more for her lack of developed reasoning... it just seems to appear. It surprised me when I saw it. I dislike surprises. I'm waiting for her lunchtime notes before I continue.

Tommy is obfuscating and trying to pull attention from Mish. Tommy/Mish scum team. The way he's going out of his way to defend her actually makes me think she has a scum PR. Mish has now moved on to Cloud, trying to throw shade on him.

Tommy, I don't like how you call people out for "weak cases" within the first 5 pages. Only joke or placeholder votes from you specifically are allowed and logical? Cause that makes no sense. I HAVE played on a scum team with you in Christmas mafia and while I died early, you should remember me from our scum QT. That game just ended. So yes, I have more insight as to how you play specifically because you gave reasons for how and why you were posting certain things. Your dismissal of this pings and you should know better.

Despo made a lot of points that made surprising sense to me (not surprising cuz like, he doesn't usually make sense, but surprising because I usually get scum vibes from him :D), but right now I'm leaning towards Mish just being Mish. And I think she makes a good point about Cloud parroting Despo right now.

Also, I'm not super suspicious of Hallia's L-1 vote because I just cautioned her about hasty scum voting in our last game, and she seemed to definitely heed that. It does seem a little strange, but maybe she just didn't realize Mish already had so many votes on her (easy thing to slip by in a game with so few players).

I want to go back and read through more carefully to give more thoughts, but I have to do actual work here at work now (heh), so hopefully I'll be back in a couple of hours.

This is clearly a glaring reduction of my actual thoughts on today's events. Yes, your vote on me was weak. Yes, I think Despot's suspicions, overall, are weak. You are claiming I am not playing to my mafia meta, so I'll interpret this as you having a town read on me. That would be correct.

Hmmm. Mish's responses and Alanna's comments have swayed me somewhat.

Unvote, Vote Tom

Regardless of Mish's alignment may be, Tommy buddying her like that stinks to high heaven, and he keeps trying to reduce the case on him to being "weak", a common scum tactic. And his sideline snipe posts really bother me, how he keeps trying to look like he's staying active by asking people about their take on things, when in actuality he's not doing any actual scumhunting on his own.

Please elucidate us? Cause I'll admit I took Mish's first comment as a poorly worded joke at first, it was her reactions to pressure on it that gave me a scum read on her. At least if you're flipping you're choosing my other scum read though, so I don't feel like I'm potentially missing out on too much.

Alanna, how is Mish just being Mish? I believe she's a good mafia player. Nonetheless, in the first five pages she has: misrepped, fos'd without voting, attempted to paint Hallia as overdefensive, used the misunderstood joke defense, claimed personal attacks on her in an attempt to misdirect.

I don't see her doing all those as town. I think she got flustered at the early attention and slipped.

Tommy trying to be cute again. If you're town, I find the obvi-misrepping of my statements a clumsy attempt to look smart. I find it more likely you're scum hoping to brush off some early attention and hoping that will keep you under the radar for the next few days.

Me disagreeing with Mish but not thinking she's scummy enough to vote for isn't buddying. Do take notice as to how I'm asking her for explanation on the parts I don't understand.

Telling Hallia you won't vote for her because you're proud of her -- THAT is buddying.

More weak arguments. Try again.

If you think I'm scum then vote for me.

Are you not concerned that Despot abandoned the wagon you started? Why wouldn't you want to insist I hammer that lynch?

I don't think Despot is making sense. So you think Mish is probably town? Me too. How about Golden Boy? Salami?

They both pretended not to read the setup. Have a hard time buying that from either of them.

I found Golden calling Mish out for her Hally-joke (which didn't look like a hoke to me either) valid.

Jumpy Despo bothers me. I'm voting him by the way... but AJ didn't count it for some reason.

1-If you think I'm scum then vote for me.

2-Are you not concerned that Despot abandoned the wagon you started? 3-Why wouldn't you want to insist I hammer that lynch?

1- You're my second scummy read. Mish is my first. Why would I switch from 1 to 2?

2- No, I'm not pushing anyone anywhere, it's entirely possible someone sees something I don't, that's why I asked for his reasoning.

3- I don't want a 10 second day 1. I have reads I'm happy with voting at present. No need to rush, patience allows for better reads. For example, Mish has looked progressively scummier since I voted her and you've posted more content for me to read, which always helps. But you know all this, you're an experienced player. What do you base your early votes on? How are your reads and votes not weak when others are?

It's okay for players to disagree. But I've found your reasoning rather shallow so far, and coupling that with your mind melding with Despot, who I feel is putting on a scumhunting show but isn't sincere about what he's saying, and the "I didn't read the setup" nonsense on top of my disagreeing with almost all of your conclusions -- and I find it difficult to believe you have town's best interests in mind.

Could you be town? Yes. I see glimmers of reasonable nature under the bravado. But you two have made a point if being the most bombastic so far, and I find both your justifications and presentation to be lacking. So I'm duly skeptical of two players who are in sync on matters I personally disagree with. Add the attempts at bullying and you're not currying my favor at all. Wanna work together? Be calm and level headed and present cases that aren't so... dramatic... and I'll listen.

I'm not yet sold that the two of you are mafia, I just think you're doing a poor job of showing that you're town. It's like you're trying TOO hard to look town like and the facade is hollow. Get me?

Posted

Tommy. I would agree were you not a similarly bombastic player who likes to "act" reasonable. I haven't engaged in histrionics here, so that's another misrep by you. In fact, when Mish went personal, I specifically addressed the issue and told her I have no problem with her. Is there a small chance you're town, yes. If you are, hopefully you can show me another side to your game besides whyme fryme and calling players' logic "weak."

Posted

Also, as to the trying TOO hard. I think we know there are certain roles that affect how players play. Poking at how I'm playing and claiming I'm trying too hard comes off as rolefishing to me personally.

Posted

Sorry for that then? I guess what it comes down to is you're not doing a good job of convincing me. Just keep going and we will sort this all out.

Agreed. If you are town we'll likely have friction occasionally cause when I scum hunt I don't really care if it pulls votes on me, I'm just looking for slips and reactions. I find it easiest to be aggressive when doing so. It's admittedly still a work in progress.

Here's a question - from a scum POV, what would be the point of pretending to not be familiar with the game setup? So Despo did that just to further his case on Mish? Super sloppy move, since it's a given others will immediately jump on him for making this mistake (as, you know, several people have). I just don't buy it.
