@Mish: Wth? I didn't "suddenly" start suspecting Yates. He was one of my earliest suspects, and I had my vote on him before I moved it to you

So how do you explain his actions when it comes to me then? You completly overlooked that part of my post.

And the fact that me [his supposed scum read] claiming to see a Town slip is what got him to unvote you.  How did that happen?

Yes that's the fact that I was trying to get him to adress in my previous post. That he ignored. And now ignored again. I'm sorely tempted to move my vote to Des. But at the same time... Lily isn't assuring me in the least. If he ignores it yet again, he gets my vote now. The fearmongering already has me sorely tempted.

@Mish: I think he might have been both trying to buddy you and gain some town cred by starting the "townslip" discussion (which was proven to be an inconsequential discussion). Something that supports this is that not too long after you mentioned dying on D4, Dap came out and said players could discuss the number of loaves they had. This makes me think some of the scum might have complained on the QT that you were breaking the rules or something so that Dap had to address it. Yates' comments about it came after the mod announcement.

@Yayes: Your comments did NOT have me remove my vote from Mish. The combination of her explanation for some of her actions combined with AJ's 180 and trying to act like he "got" the townslip but still keep his vote on Mish made me change my vote

@AJ: lol I DID read the timestamps. And guess what? They both came AFTER the posts I pointed out. Again, nice try tho

What do you think alerted me to the "slip" in the first place? I saw Dap's post, reflected on Mish's post and thought "gee, I would be dead on day 4 without any bread too."

As to your claim scum would object to free Town role pm information?? What?? Scum Yates would be *thanking* any Townie that posted their role thus making our own fake claims way more believable and taking away a tool Town has for finding us.

Think it through, man. That's just terrible logic on your part - again.

In regards to the off topic discussion regarding OR? You are dead wrong. Proven in my next post.

Posted

So you agree that Mish's 'townslip' was inconsequential, but keeping my vote on her despite my prior reasoning although I picked up on what Yates is talking about makes me scum? If anything it just proves that our PMs are similar. Also, what actions of her's are you talking about?

What is your point by saying they came after? If anything that just makes you look more ridiculous. In the quote you provide you say that OR is stupid and end it there, fine. Later, Hallia mentions she should read up on it so Yates provides her with a link. There was no discussion. Immediately after, you come in with your ramble about OR theory which essentially derails all discussion from finding scum. How is that not clear to you?

[***SNIP***]

Also, I keep seeing 'Occam's Razor' pop up in games, I should probably go google that to see what it is.

Please do.

That's all that was said about Occam's Razor. A side comment that was really food for further research as it pertained to our earlier argument.

Then THIS POST happens. Why would you feel the need to introduce all this non game related nonsense?

My comment/rebbutal, by contrast, actually demonstrated you contradicting yourself - which *IS* game related and pertinent.

Then you make another post and continue down that path and I attempt to just stop it in its tracks with this:

My point is it's just not very effective in a situation that is kind of meant to be complex, as mafia is.

Ok. Point made. This has been fun. Moving on...

So yes, you are solely responsible for that [and now THIS] thread of posts.

Occam's razor, dude. I voted the way I voted for exactly the reason I said I voted it.

1. Occam's razor is a dumb concept to use in mafia. It's generally a good idea not to make too many assumptions, but figuring out who the mafia could be is rarely a simple solution..
After this is when Yates challenged me on it again and I eventually responded as I did.
Here's your reading comprehension failure fellas. All that crap you just posted? Was after this. And making it out like Des was scrambling to deny posting anything afterwards or continuing the discussion. He freakin admitted to doing it right there in the bolded. So what's the big effing deal?

*editing to correct bolding derp*

I also wanted to address this separately:

@Mish: I think he might have been both trying to buddy you and gain some town cred by starting the "townslip" discussion (which was proven to be an inconsequential discussion).

I disagree. I pointed out the Town slip because I saw it in an INSTANT after seeing that Mod post. AJ and GE picked up on it too. You did not. You required clarification. Why is it they know EXACTLY what I was referring to when reading my post and you didn't?

FTR - THAT is why my vote is on you. The off topic stuff is just gravy. And your current line of defense is equally subpar for a Town Des.

Nope. Read post 330. Or read those posts in sequence rather than in ISO for actual context.

AJ, your OR discussion scum tell issue with Des would only be legit if Desp wasn't also scum hunting this game.  Thread was dead.  Doesn't look like a derail attempt to me in the least.

Plus...the OR discussion has happened in countless games here on DM.  It goes back a long long time.  It has never been shown to be a scum tell as far as I remember.  Just thank God that BG isn't in the game.

I disagree. In fact, I have used off topic posts as scum just to blend in and give myself something to post while getting a feel for who the Town is going to mislynch. I know you've seen me do it.

But sure, this is a minor point.

What do you think of my conclusions in post 332.

Occam's Razor isn't the issue.

Off-topic discussion is. I will quote a few more posts from him this game where he has done essentially the same thing. His aim doesn't seem to be finding scum, but rather discussing mafia theory.

Just gotta say, this kind of got me really annoyed. I was posting from my phone while out with my family and kept getting ninja'd. Kinda hard to respond to everything when you can't post that quick. You know me well enough to know that I don't duck arguments, even when I'm mafia.

It feels completely pointless to continue arguing who derailed the thread more, or first or w/e. My point was that Yates participated in the OT discussion as well, then voted me after others fos'd me for being in it. That seems scummy as heck to me.

Alright I'll get back to everything at work tonight, got the missus upset with me cause I was on my phone too much at the mall.

Wow, Des was rambling about off topic issues at 3am? Well color me me surprised, that has NEVER happened before.

For every one post devoted to off topic stuff from me, I guarantee you I can find 5-10 posts devoted to scumhunting. You're completely full of shit if you're really trying to say I haven't been scumhunting this game. But w/e, iso away. I'll respond at work tonight.

Just ignore the fact that Despo had been scumhunting. You are acting like he was looking for a reason to post when he's already presented many reasons to post.

It would be a legit claim if he hadn't participated in the game...or wanted to belabor setup talking for 5 pages.

You can continue being obstinate if you want Ishy, that's fine.

The time of his posts are irrelevant, the content is not. What don't you understand?

This describes you much more than Ishy.

Problem is...it had previously been stated by the mod we start the day with 3 when he posted the wiki link.

Well, to be fair, mod didn't actually say we all started with 3 loaves of bread. He just posted the link then said, "ONE OR TWO BALANCING MEASURES HAVE BEEN ADDED." Who's to say one of those "balancing measures" wasn't changing the quantity of loaves? I mean, I get your point. And once it's out in the open and being discussed? Sure, it makes sense. But don't you think it was strange that Des DIDN'T pick up on that? I mean, if it was supposed to be so obvious to everyone - scum included - why didn't Des immediately call Mish out on it as he is so apt to do? My gut? He didn't see it. And I think he didn't see it because Mafia have a different game mechanic for handling starvation.

So your "town slip" post could be a grasp at town cred yourself. It may not have been...but there is a possible angle there.

Valid concern and I can't refute this. So we agree I'm not auto Town. I'm okay with that. I would, in fact, expect heavy scrutiny if Mish were to flip scum at some point as the person that derailed her wagon. But I can't worry about that unless/until that happens.

To be fair, she's had that out there for a while. Unless you've been at the mall since last night?

I know the feeling. /AtE
