Alright, so to summarize my claim:

• This is my true character (I have to claim as myself).

No, I think that replacing or mod killing inactive players is the job of the mod. The people who are playing the game shouldn’t have anything to do with deciding about it.

 

 

Why are you only asking Dice, Peace has barely done anything but tunnel on GF (barring a few mafia bandwagon posts) and a post on Csarmi that was only to bring the focus back to GF

Peace hasn’t been tunneling on GF imo, he just wants to policy lynch him based on his play style which I’m not a fan of. We are still only on Day 1 and GF has enough time to step up his game. He is active enough, although he isn’t really contributing much. I don’t think that it will become an issue, but if it does I trust that the mod will deal with it.

ive been in 2 games recently where rushed voting D1 caused a doc and a cop real ones claim on like page 5 of D1. It annoyed me. I dont want to see it again.

Quoted the above two because of the differences in approaches. Leelou = salami is someone who SEEMS scummy. Despo = salami IS scum.

 

Only three people speak in absolutes: Sith, scum, and stupid town.

 

Leelou on the other hand is smart enough to know better than speak in absolutes on D1. Her statement is far from a town tell but she's at least acting relatively normal. For those that play with Despo, does he usually have these bold "OMG ITZ SO OBVIOUZ U GAIZ!" moments?

Yeah he actually does that quite often, but I feel like this is even a bit much for him.

@Thorum, I got a few questions to you about character claiming and roleclaiming. Making it in public as it might interest others too.

• Just for the record: Are the twelve possible characters in the game: Weasley: Arthur, Molly, Bill, Charlie, Percy, Fred, George, Ron, Ginny (Weasley) and Malfoy: Lucius, Narcissa, Draco
• Is it possible for two players to get the same character to claim? How do you distribute 12 claims between 9 players?
• Players aren't allowed to hint at whether the claim they got is their real character, right? To what extent can players discuss their own character claims? What is allowed and what isn't allowed?

Wowowow hold on a sec. I don’t like this post AT ALL. You are bringing up the possibility that two players can have the same character claim, and then you start hinting that your real character is actually someone else. You are trying to defend yourself from any possibly counter claim and that is scummy as hell.

lol & I'm not instantly accepting his claim, but I don't have the information to prove him wrong and I wasn't happy to leave him at L-2 before I've had a chance to reread/think through.  If he is lying then he'll eventually be outed, either by one of the real lovers or by the cop as and when they choose. 

 

I'm baffled as to why you'd ask him for his lover - if he's telling the truth then you've given mafia a 50% chance of killing 2 townies (even assuming the doc would protect one of them) and would you believe anything he says at this point if he is mafia? 

 

I did read the rules Thorum. Specifically, this part-

 

- Polyjuice will be applied freely. This applies to lovers (yes, there will be lovers). It also applies to characterclaiming. I've given a town character to claim for everyone. Half these claims are lies, half aren't. You must stick to it. Even no hinting at the 'real' character.

 

tells me character claims are essentially useless this game. Since all scummies have been given safe characters to fake claim, we're not gonna catch anyone using that method.

 

Is there something I am mistaken about, or am I misunderstanding anything about the rules? No one is going to claim a Malfoy, in fact you even make it clear that doing so would be breaking the rules (and hopefully they WOULD get modkilled for doing something so dumb lol).

 

I think you're wrong on this.  I suspect it will become more useful towards end game however.  For a start we know that half the fake claims are mafia, eventually we may get information that then points to some claims being true, ergo confirming town players.

 

 

 

fwiw I've been assuming that there will be two character claims for each character and that 3 Weasleys and the 3 Malfoys will be left out, this seems the simplest way to ensure that claims don't favor town or mafia (since Csarmis claim gives lie to my 'the 7 Harry's' theory/nod to the books.

I've clarified all this with our mod because none of what I asked was evident (not to me, anyway).

 

You see,

 

1) There are twelve players and only nine town characters (and Thorum said everyone has a town character).

2) The mod specified which character you can claim, but I wanted to be sure what you're allowed to talk about and what you're not allowed to talk about, as technically it wasn't even clear to me to what extent I could discuss my claim, whether I could even say whether this was my true character or not.

It is a team effort to cleanse the game of inactive players.  If normally active players are inactive, whatever.  It happens.  They get a pass and everybody continues about their business.  It is the habitually inactive people that hurt the game.  Those people need to be dealt with by both mod and players; otherwise, nothing will be effective.

The character claiming is not complicated, but the most simple tool I can imagine to balance out the fact that everyone knows which 12 characters are in the game, and which 3 of them are mafia. Well, apart from not allowing characterclaims, but that would have been boring, imho.

 

Only one thing is not allowed: claiming or hinting at another character than the one you have been given to claim. ANYTHING else is allowed (with regards to claiming).

He's not lying about being a lover, I can attest to that (I'm his partner).

 

That said, that doesn't preclude him or myself from being scum.  Especially considering this game, there are certainly positives to taking us out to be safe.

Salami's play is considerably less scummy to me, but that's also through the lens of sharing a QT and the conversation in there -- something that is easily manipulated.  He could very well say the same about me.

 

Personally, my best bet is Despo.  

 

However the longer Salami and I are to stay alive, the greater the WIFOM and let's be honest -- there's no real reason for scum to take us out IF we are both town.  Their pool of major roles has been narrowed down and they can easily get a twofer later if/when they need it.  They also would have the chance that town lynches one of the two of us for fear of being scum.

 

I do sort of feel like the smarter play is removing us now simply because of the chance that either of us could be scum hiding in plain sight.  Would love to hear some insight from Verb, Leelou, etc
