Yeah... about those 10 mans... I'm a lvl like 14 I think.  Would be a good idea to tell me if you NEED a human mage... I think I have one profession thing?  But telling me what you'd need and all for these dungeon things would help since I can easily still start over at this point and get to where I'm already at with the Mage rather quickly.  ( I lvled my rogue gnome to 7 in like an hour)

we'll have to do up a raid roster of who we got and when we want to schedual raids and see who can make it to those times.  Play what ever you want Nae.  Counting khan we're still short 1 person, what i don't know yet.

for our raiding roster we might have to do rotating raid times each week so everyone can get experience.  go on wowwiki and look up raids and raid lockout so you'll see what i mean.

zul'aman (lvl 70 in Ghostlands) is after karazhan (lvl 70).  we've been talking about the 25man Zul Gurub (lvl 60) in stranglethorn vale.

lower blackrock spire is 5man, lvl 60, and has been 5man for years.  i've soloed it at level 70.

upper blackrock spire is 10man, lvl 60, 3manned this at level 70.

Onyxia's lair is now a level 80 10man between ulduar and icc difficulty.

for zul gurub khanrhyd and i can probably solo it but then i'm a well geared tank and he's a well geared healadin.  and we've been partnering as that for over a year.

but we're talking about getting everyone experienced with working in large groups and learning how to deal with unusual and new game mechanics/spells and looting rules.

When it comes to raids, The actual duration of the raid isn't actually raiding, its gathering the people to do it. SPecially if your Pugging.

Guilds, you say, 6pm, and if you don't login at 6pm, you lose your spot.

Basically you all pick a time, say, 8pm Eastern, and everyone gets tot hat location, BY 8pm. ASsuming no ones late, you walk in and start clearing.

The raids only take along time, if your wiping constantly on trash mobs.

Put it this way, back when Zul'Gurub or whatever its called, was still 'end game' for the 12-24 man raids, at lvl 60, going in the first few times, 3 hours was spent clearing trash.

Another 4 hours to even get close to killling the boss.

Next week, we got through the trash faster, Killed the boss on the 3rd try. only 5 hours that time.

As you progress, it gets faster.

I think by the time we got to the final boss, we one-two shot every boss, and one-shot hakkar.

BAsically looking at 30-45 minutes to get to each boss, 3-4 hours was pretty good for a raid...

Age of Conan, heres how the raids went.

Clear trash, in 30 minutes.

Spend next 3 hours trying to kill boss, Wipe, re-clear trash, try again until people say 'fudge it'.

After you get good at taking down the boss, and can 1-shot it, its fast.

Put it simply, when I first started Raiding in Age of Conan, we spent roughly 6 hours 4 days a week, trying to take down the first, second, or third bosses.

Today, there are 4 bosses per wing.

We can clear each wing in an hour.

Theres 3 wings

WE have to wait 1 week to go for it again.

You have no idea how addicting it is, trying to LEARN in Encounter, and absolutely Dominate it, Only to be hit up again by another brick wall and climb over it.

The guild I'm in in Age of Conan, (Though at this point i'm in it ony in name, since i got no money to play anymore) was the first guild, in the world, to down the hardest boss in that game. And we did it with 2 people short of a full raid.

We didn't tell them that, cause they'd probably yell hax. :P

Yeah, can we please keep other MMO discussion out of the thread specifically labeled WoW discussion? I couldn't care less about all of these other games, and I don't want to read about them on a WOW thread. :P Yes, I'm being catty about this, but really. It's just going to confuse our newer players.  8)

You know, I have to be honest and say that I just don't play the game this way. I play it to relax and have fun and to NOT take it seriously, and all of these details don't sound like fun to me. If this becomes a chore, or another job, then I'm probably not going to get involved in this at all. Sorry guys.  :-\

raiding is actually fun, just needs some preparation.  khanrhyd thought he'd hate raiding because it sounded chorish and daunting but then he went on his first raid with our old raiding guild and he had soo much fun and really felt the sense of community co-operation.

perhaps before we try raiding as a guild i'll try and get each of you in on someone else's raid as dps so you can see what it's like to raid with other experienced raiders.  pretty easy to find a pug raid now with the weekly raid quests

Casuals ussually start out fearing the concept of raiding because they've heard the horror stories of them.

And most of that horror is misunderstanding.

Like where I stated I ran raids many times a week for 6 hours.

IT wasn't a job, it was fun.

I didn't 'want' to leave after 3 hours. :P

some people do have to leave, and its entirely possible if you got more people wanting in, then you can actually use in a raid. ;)

Wiping constantly trying to take down a boss, having to re-clear up to the boss many times, it is fun. Its an odd sort of fun but it is.

ITs the fun in the way that once you accomplish your goal, Thats the fun. Once you've mastered it, its even funner.

Think of it like learning to riding a bike.

Get frustrating as hell trying to learn it. Constantly falling, scraping knees, ect.

But when you finally master it, that first time, thats the 'fun' you seek...

In some ways, thats the difference between casual and the hardcore raiders.

The casual are easilly amused by the 'easy' stuff, the hardcore raiders, are addicted to the tougher content. :P

fortunately with the raid lockouts it means that once we down a boss everyone in the instance at that time is then saved to that version of the dungeon and we can work on finishing that version of the dungeon till tuesday maintenance.  but they've changed it so the raidleader can extend the lock out for another week.  so that'll give us two weeks to kill everything.  I believe the raid leader can keep extending the lock out for as long as they want.

once you get saved to that version of the dungeon it will show a Raid ID number in the raid tab of your social window and on the calendar written on the tuesday square: naxx 10 raid ID 12345 expires.

once you're saved to a Naxx 10man, you can only join another Naxx10 if started by another member of your naxx10 12345 group (or if you start up the continuation) but if you try to zone into Naxx 10 9872 then you will zone into 12345 and the rest of your raid is in 9872.

once you kill a boss, all the trash up to that boss will not reappear until the raid id expires.

there are only two ways to not have fun in a raid.

1) someone starts the blame game.

2) wiping on a boss for the 5th time and not seeing ANY progress AT ALL.

if the situation is 1) then we just need to boot the person that started blaming people for their mistakes.  we're all going to make mistakes, especially stupid ones, as we learn how to raid and stuff.  even me.  you'll be learning how to raid and i'll be learning how to lead a raid.  so there will be plenty of mistakes and those that didn't make a mistake that time will have to remember that it's their turn to make a mistake the next time.

if the situation is #2, then we just have to call it for the night and figure out why we're not making any progress on dropping him and try again next time we get together.  fortunately there's plenty of online resources like the LJ communities Worldofwarcraft and wow_ladies.  if you're on LJ i suggest joining them and reading people's posts about their raid experience.  you'll get good and bad.

one more thing.  I don't like people that Raid Under the Influence.  Don't make me cite you for a RUI and take away your raiding license.

What a crappy WoW week for the servers.  Lag has been awful since they installed the new patch.  Today is another urgent maintenance day and I am at hope due to snow.  Sucks.

Last night I dinged 78 with my main.  I am trying to play at least one random dungeon a day with him to get those two triumph points.  That way when I hit 80 I can get some gear.

I have my priest up to 55.  I am really tired of running Upper City.  Man it takes like 2 hours to run.  I am also debating dual speccing with her.  Not sure to spec as Discipline (to heal main tanks) or Shadow (to run as DPS).  It seems kind of silly to pay 1K in gold to spec as another healer.

Tried the random dungeon last night - me as DPS and my buddy as Tank or Heal.  We waited about....3 seconds.  Awesome.

Turns out my buddy isn't the world's best healer, but he's pretty solid as a tank, so we did about 2-3 randoms last night.  Not bad - I got a level (up to 62 now).

Best thing is that I've been leveling my herbalism and selling the herbs in the AH and saved enough to finally purchase flight training and a shiny new flying mount.  Fun.  Flying in Outlands was pretty cool.  Looking forward to now saving for dual spec on my Shammy.

Oh, and highlight of the night was getting called "hunny" by Canuk.  Woot!  ;D

emp, can you remove bathroy from my character's list as i never, ever play her.  can you add Hudsonsbayco to it instead and add Falryth and Vyxvlyn under horde?

thanks

ps: silver, my skype id is Canukistani  but i'm hardly on.

also, everyone, i've found a vent server that's free for other guilds to use and stuff.  i'll be going to thier website and seeing what we have to do to get a set room but they have like 20 channels called "Bum Room 1" 2, 3 etc

so we can see about using those for bringing in pugers to our raid
