Game Review System

Okay, so here is the idea.  This thread is for moderators and players alike to take games and review them.  The setup, the theme, how well it was played, etc.  

 

The idea is to help generally improve games online.  

 

For a game to be reviewed the moderator must post a link here and generally discuss sections of the game that they intended to work as they did, interesting mechanics, and things that completely surprised them.

 

If a player posts here they may only comment on their impressions of game design and balance.

 

This is in no way a thread meant for bashing of games that people had a bad experience in.  

 

As such, I will start with both one that I created and with one that I was integral in.

I have to say that in this game I had a blast moderating.  My setup was a bit generic and the idea of Kings was totally overpowered in hindsight (literally, the last three days were practically a wash as the mafia controlled enough town votes to win by rote) and I should have accounted for the mass claims that were inevitably coming.  As my first experience modding I can say that this game would have been a terror without the expertise of Ithillian (who helped me co-moderate greatly) and yet it seems that people had a lot of fun.  I was really proud of the special mechanics that helped this game remain exciting and active, doubly so that the game is still occasionally mentioned.  All in all, I was satisfied with my first frightening experience as a mod.

 

Spider Country Mafia

My first DPR game and I am still speechless.  This game was perhaps the most unique variation of mafia that I have ever seen and was balanced beautifully, to the extent that neither team was ever in the know yet both mafias seemingly decimated one another.  The balance was.. perfect.  If I could play this game again tomorrow I would, it taught me a lot and was not at all gimmicky.  Wes has earned his reputation as a moderator without doubt.

I remember your Game of Thrones. It was actually only the second game I'd been involved in as a Mod Type. It was nice to be able to have someone to talk to with regards to the game and I still smile about you cracking up laughing in that shop when Turin found out about the Third Party and promptly killed them. I think we had about 8 QTs on the go?

 

Very complicated but lots of fun Worthy of an Empy Nomination maybe

 

I also liked that game where we were all computer game characters and I got to shoot people, although being Mind Controlled was not as much fun as you would expect. I wish I could remember what it was called.

As an aside, Ishy bumped an old game called Hunters? and it was very funny to read the Mafia QT and see Darthe being all noobish and uncertain lol. Look how far he has come

I loved Game of Thrones mafia Darthe. Lenlofinger is still one of my favorite nick names. Though Leno is up there with it.

I know this doesn't need to be said, but I will anyway:

 

1.  no ongoing game discussion

 

2.  if mod/player bashing starts, I'll come down hard on the offenders

Game of Thrones was a very fun game to play. And althought you are correct that the mafia ran the last two days I think we were very much on the ropes in the middle of the game. The funniest part of that game was that the 3rd party and mafia did all the killing of the other side (while getting a few townies in the crossfire) until we finished the 3rd party off. Alannalynn should have never had Arez send that correspondence.

 

Earthbound was also very fun and challenging too. Best part was we got to kill Verb twice

 

Spider country was also wicked. To think I actually saved you on D1 and you were the  leader of the opposing mafia. I could have saved my team a lot of trouble if I had just went with the flow.

 

The other one that I really liked to play was Labyrinth. Very very fun.

I truly wish I had played Labyrinth, it is one of the few that I chose not to since I began here.  And yes, Ithi =p  My game 1 was awesome.
